OUTSTANDING! Tapestry is such a great game. I love the asymmetrical abilities and the sense of progression while the tension 'crescendos' into such crazy madness toward the end. The game also brings a level of "freshness and wonder" that's hard to come by with so many releases every year. As always, you did a wonderful job explaining the new features - my favorite possibly being the new tie breaker. Bravo, Rodney!
I like the "tanks versus spearmen" art for Surprise Party. Reminds me of playing science-focused on the easiest difficulty in the video game Civilization... :)
I'm very excited for this expansion. I love the counter-trap cards as well as the unique landmark cards you get to start the game with. Getting buildings for my capital city has been my favorite part of the game and I love that you get more opportunities for that with this expansion.
Watch It Played I think so too, they look really cool. I likes the new monuments I also like the discs for the goal spaces on the board with monuments gives a quick look visual if a monument has already been taken if you are playing with more than a few players; it can get pretty crazy!
The new tokens on the landmark building spaces is a great addition! I was already doing this with coin tokens from another game and I definitely noticed that we remembered to take the corresponding buildings this way. There's something about the physical act of picking up a token that triggers that "oh yeah, I get this building too" thought process.
Here's a quick thought Rodney - maybe your videos should contain a rough idea of the 'footprint' of the area taken up by the game. I'd love to play Tapestry but don't think I have a table big enough!
@@WatchItPlayed I expect we will. We were finishing out a "Challenge" on BG Stats this weekend, so we didn't get it out yet. This weekend. Too long for our after work play time. We usually play Res Arcana or Watergate after work. You can knock two or three games out in short order. We will hit 100 plays of Res Arcana this week.... Probably today.
Having just bought Tapestry, naturally I must have this, I don't care I'm yet to play my first game. However, I already have Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion in my September budget :) Will have to do something about that... ;)
I really feel they are missing in giving each building some sort of special ability so you could customice your unique settlement. But I guess with the civilization and tapestry cards being unique it would need a lot of playtesting to make sure it does not break the game
@@dranawor that sounds cool. Kinda like what I mean. That the buildings type matter more than just for how many spaces it covered. Hope more of this Kinda of things are implemented in the future. Im still interesred in this game.
@@Totihno So Jamey basically included that one for people to try with buildings having powers but said that most people changed their mind about wanting buildings to have powers once you play with that civ. It might be too much to think about.
Since I keep seeing the Ashes: Rise Of The Phoenixborn box on your shelf in your videos, I wanted to ask you this: Do you think you would be able to do a tutorial video on the Ashes Reborn game coming out in the future, or do a tutorial video on the new rules between the old version from 2016 and the new version coming out soon? I would think you would be able to pull it off. Plus, if possible, could you also do a new game play video with Luke, your son, when it comes out? It would be nice to see the two of you play the game again after 4+ years.
Stonemaier Games posted to the Tapestry Board Game Facebook Group today that "The preorder from Stonemaier Games will go live on September 2, with shipping to follow throughout September."
I haven't played Tapestry, though I have heard that the base game had some balancing issues. Can anyone who owns and plays the game confirm this? Based on Rodney's presentation, do you think this expansion corrects any balancing issues? I like Civilization-like games and would be interested in picking up the base game and this expansion if people feel they're worth the investment. Thanks in advance!
I love the game a lot and I think the expansion should fix a lot of the issues players seemed to have with the original game. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the xpac!
Man, I never get tired.of those box flip tricks, haha, you're awesome
Every time Rodney shows how to play a game, I always want to try it. I love how you explain the rules, you're the best.
Thank you kindly Darío!

I like the objective styled buildings!
I like the "tallest miniature" tiebreaker. Makes the miniatures mean something beyond their initial placement!
I thought that was a nice touch too!
Since we are definitely big fans of the base game, I will definitely be adding the expansion. Thanks for the look!
I think you'll like the new additions Frank!

Agreed - this was a good idea!
When playing solo this sure makes the bots' nearest-attainable-building decisions much clearer.
So excited, can't wait to buy it! love the base game and is definetely one of my favorites!
So glad you've been enjoying - have fun with the expansion!
Looking forward to September slightly more now!
Great video, Rodney! Just a shame you did not cover the solo campaign...
This
He's just leaving you to discover that content on your own ;)
That's cool that Jamey included all those solo scenarios in the expansion. I'm intrigued.
I thought that was a neat addition too!

I have a dining room table measuring 180cm bij 90cm. I can easily fit the game and still have room left for snacks.
@@TheSmuey That's excellent, thanks for the info!
I just got mine, so I wanted to make sure I knew what was what..... Thanks Rodney!
Have fun with it Frank!

Thanks for checking it out!

I read that one of the new civilizations gets special effects based on the buildings on their mat.

Yep, game balance would certainly be a factor to have to contend with there.

Any idea when pre-orderes will open up? Can you post a link to pre-order?
Was gonna ask the same thing. Thanks Jordan!

Came here after watching Dice Tower unboxing this game.

Hey Velderak, you'll find this discussed in the video.
I own the game and played a few times, but it looks like there are some great improvements to the base game
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks Rodney! Watching again. I don't think my morning coffee has kicked in yet, haha.
The base game is perfectly fine. They've corrected the balance issues and it's a great great game
It's a great game. Def invest in it!
Does it fit in the orginal box?
I removed the plastic inserts, and then it did.
I love the game a lot and I think the expansion should fix a lot of the issues players seemed to have with the original game. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the xpac!
I think you'll enjoy it!
Which island do you live on Rodney?
Prince Edward Island.
I love Tapestry
Who is our "neighbor"? Players only to the left/right of us? Several new Civs use a "neighbor" mechanism.
Yes, that would be to the left or right.
Thank you Rodney!
You're welcome!
TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
