Botan's ability to so effortlessly follow the story and make callbacks to things that were only ever mentioned once makes me so happy. A lot of people either just straight up don't read or listen to anything that's said, and then wonder why they're confused later on, and simply blame the game for being confusing or not upfront enough. Glad that our favorite lion is enjoying her time with the game and is understanding and enjoying it's characters and story.
She said she has read up on the lore between her sessions, iirc. So, she's done her homework which may be why she has so much insight. As you said I'm one of the people who would prefer a more straightforward approach to these game's storytelling. That's the reason I play most games; the story. I don't mind working for it, but I don't want to be Sherlock Holmes to find all the relevant information. Also not a fan of how it's so easy to miss big plot points by being late/early or simply missing an area etc. Shrug.
@@TallulahSoie Even having read up a bit on stuff, she makes sure she explores, picks up items, and reads the written description on the item, since every piece of armor, weapons, and consumables have something to say about the game's context and world. The game's setting and context is mainly what you make it out to be, so if you go on a one track quest to the end, you'll have a one track idea of how the story is and what your goal was. Only when you explore and listen to what characters and areas have to say, does your context expand more on the world and allows you to make connections and form your own thoughts, and the game has multiple endings for that exact reason. A game having a "story" is a very general term nowadays, since there are many ways to tell a story in a video game. There isn't a whole lot of dialogue in this game, and there aren't any 20 minute long cutscenes explaining to you what you're, doing, why you're doing it, what you have to do to get it done, how it all works who everyone is why can't you die etc etc. It's for you, the player, to find out for yourself. Of course, if you couldn't care less about the story, that's fine, the game is made in this way to allow players who just want to play to be able to do so, and not get context and exposition shoved down their throat every 5 minutes. But at the same time, there are lots of people who blame the game for their inability to understand what's going on, instead of just taking the time to read a couple little sticky notes, or listening to two lines of dialogue, and that's where the problem lies and why I find Botan's opt for actually paying attention and looking into a few things on her own very commendable and why it makes me happy. She chose to engage with the world of the game instead of just running through aimlessly, and constantly at a loss on where to go next. Plus it takes like two seconds to read a wiki page on something you might have been confused about, it's really not that big a deal. I'm pretty sure her quick dives between sessions is more to just refresh herself before starting again rather than just reading all the major plot points. Anyways I'm done ranting, I just really like video games and really appreciate Botan's choice to really enjoy it and not just play it from time to time to get something out of the Elden Ring hype.
Yeah well even with reading everything, i still need a wiki to explain me some part... It's really confusing when english not your first language, all the metaphors and things.
Been following this Botan series for awhile now. Have definitely fallen for the cheerful lion. Can't understand moon yet, so thanks a whole bunch for subbing. Appreciate it
In here we not only got watch Botan propose to Ranni, but algo her fight against -Guts- Blaidd. Thanks as always for the Elden Ring content, that is saldy, coming to an end.
Ranni's plan is to basically to cut the lands between off from the outer gods influence and do away with the golden order and elden ring entirely. The cold dark path she talks about is in reference to this and mortals being responsible for their own fates and actions.
@@VtuberBits We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close. Lol that would've been epic. Thanks for the subs. Any plans to sub Tempus for JP viewers?
Thanks for the translation. Did she actually say waifu? I thought that was a word that they didn't like or understand for some reason compared to _overseas bros._
She said [嫁]: yome, which means wife. I've seen it used before in a similar way to "waifu", and since she was being silly I wanted to reflect that a bit more. That and calling it the "wife-sword" sounded really weird to me for some reason xD
To be honest, I really like the use of music here. It tends to be like... vaudeville or instrumentals, mixed low enough that it's not overwhelming Botan or the game. I understand wanting to see the footage as is, but it adjusts the mood and joins disjointed clips without blasting it in your face or slicing in obnoxious split-second memes, which happens...too often on certain channels.
@@vieronna all cheekiness aside, that is kinda what I'm going for. I know not everyone likes it and I'm definitely not the best at it, but you can't always please everyone, at least _I_ can't 😅

Woah… I'd never seen Blaidd's grab attack before 8:32, that's brutal. Thanks as always for putting this together!
I hadn't seen that before either, it's awesome
