  • A look at a forgotten rock shelter deep in the forest that directly connects the present to the distant past and where we came from.

    Excellent video Terry! I agree, an iron ore furnace built in the middle of the woods is way more interesting to me than a pyramid or cathedral.

    Hey brother, that is a great video, and i am sure when you got into this cave , you got the chill, because i believe that this place have lots of spirituality, i mean the native activity, which is part of this land history, and wish that those whom visited this place or visiting places like that , to not put their initials or paint over any old artifacts such as signs or signals ..etc, which it could teaching us about that Native Americans tribes cultures who been in this land thousands of years ago , and others that lived there in the past .. but i believe that the place is still affected and active by that native culture...
    Thank you , great job.

    We have similar structures in blue springs Mo. They’re on a bluff overlooking the little blue river valley, a tributary of the Missouri. According to local myth Quantrells men rested there and the Jesse James gang hid there later and both used it to raid traffic and Federal enforcement on the Mississippi River. The fall Holliday we celebrate is called bushwacker days. Very few people remember why. Cool video.

    Your narration is really great. You make an ordinary thing like graffiti, which is considered vandalism today, sound like an historic art form. I don't think I would have watched the entire video if it were not for how well you spoke.

    Cool place! Ken Burkett and I are conducting a survey of Native American rock art (petroglyph) sites in Western PA for the State Museum. We are including a select number of historic rock art sites, partly because they are interesting, but also to define what is Native American Rock by providing examples of what isn't Native American rock art. This is a site we may consider documenting.

    In most large rock areas like this, there are tectonic caves hidden among the rocks. Some openings may be quite small and often go unnoticed.

    I indeed enjoyed your production quite a bit. I just love the rock shelter and canyon (?) area, wonderful formations and size. The story was spot on and thoughtful. I was immediately reminded of the various signature rocks associated with the emigrants/pioneers trails west. There's a really nice one in the City of Rocks, Idaho where names written in axle grease on the rock have you imagining what that individuals life has been like up to that point and how it ultimately turned out as they reached their destination.
    I am curious if any archaeological digs have occured at the initial cave area? Obviously there are a ton of leaves that fall each year and eventually the ground level continues to rise. I just have to believe an excavation would reveal a wonderful story about this area.
    I hope you left your name.

      Thank you. It can be difficult to know how others view your work, whether the message is getting through. The connection for me is that I have known some of the people, or have come across them in my research and do know something of their lives. The Ollie Stover inscription was a real connection. He established one of the farms in my neighborhood in the early 1900"s. I was friends with one of his sons who was a generation older than me and has passed away. One of Ollies daughters is still living, she is in her late 90's.
      the neighbor who lives on that farm currently visits her and wants to photograph his inscription to show her.. So I am going to lead the neighbor there. You don't get those connections with a pyramid.
      Sadly artifact hunters have destroyed the archeology, but I do have a archeologist friend
      who wants to document the carvings. I plan to leave a hand print.

    • @forestcountyoutback7540
      @forestcountyoutback7540  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, in fact it is very public. Panther is off the Henry's Bend road, there is a offical sign and a parking lot. So the Spray Paint Rangers have trashed it, that is why I usually do not give locations.@@charlesdague9064
