I'm in Canastota NY and I've been finding these super hard bluish to green stones, some redsish ones, a few pinkish, some black, some clear. some of them are crystalline and some not so much. I would love to send pics for your thoughts. when I look them up they seem to be similar to raw corrundum, possibly jadeite, or crossing my fingers granditerite. They are all pretty darn hard. Scratch pretty much everything , leave no streaks on ceramic, Sulphuric acid does nothing but make them cleaner looking. I just happened to be messing with some car batteries and wondered what effect the stuff would have on one of the stones, very anticlimactic, lol.
Hi! That does sound interesting. You could try posting pictures of them on the Facebook group rockhounds upstate New York. Thanks for checking out the video!
We found this south of Keene valley on the Sacandaga river. Later this year we’re planning to camp and hike near there (high peaks) and may look for some more.
@@themobleys If you go on highway 73 to Keene Valley....there is a place called the Mountaineer. There is a creek beside it. I find good stuff there. All along the Ausable river is Labradorite, moonstone, garnet, fools gold, and Wollastonite with diopside mixed in it. You can also find blue calcite near there.
I love in Ilion, great spot to explore
Live in...* Lol
It’s such a beautiful area!

@@dansrocks3739 I really appreciate the tip!
I've also found labradorite on the southern shore of Lake Erie. 🙂
@@RU3YJB If I ever go there, would indeed want to find some Labradorite.
