Some people don't seem to understand that these movies are made for families. So of course they're not going to be dark and serious all the time. And frankly its hilarious watching all the comic book bros whine about children just having a good time; like I assure you no one cares this much as you do lol. One of the things I appreciated the most about this film is that we got such a great send-off for Jane. If this is the last time we see her character, it is so much more of a satisfying ending compared to just being put on a bus after the second Thor movie. And Natalie Portman absolutely killed it.

How is this a great send-off for her character when she spent most times in the movie being a person who hasn't moved on from Thor? Sure, Thor also hasn't moved on from her, but he's a god. Jane is a human. Beside, Mjolnir only accelerated her decaying state of health. How is that a great send-off for her?

Making Thor a dad that has finally come to terms with all the loss he's experienced was great. That's actually an interesting place for him moving forward.
How do you make an all powerful god interesting? Break him by having him lose everyone he ever loved, teach him to move beyond his grief, and then give him more people to love and teach.
The CGI helmets were really weird and the movie was super fast but overall I enjoyed it. I would've liked a few extra minutes with Gorr and Jane separetly near the beginning just to establish their arcs and make use of some great performers, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few good deleted scenes on the home release.

That is definitely the route I hope Marvel chooses to take when handling Thor’s death. That is, that he dies in battle, perhaps to save his daughter, and that he is reunited with his loved ones in Valhalla, and with Jane last. Their on-screen romance is my favorite one in the MCU, and I agree that it would likely be one of the most impactful scenes of the franchise.

Shivers ran down my spine. I laughed, cringed (the play, it just made me shrink in my seat in cringe), I was freaked out (thank you Bale) and had fun. Oh, Russell Crowe’s little skirt fluff, posing and majorette twirls, had me in tears!

I finally got around to seeing the movie. Honestly, it was a little too jokesy for me (and this is coming from someone who LOVED Ragnarok).
I loved Christian Bale's performance, but I really wish he presented more of an immediate threat. Hela crushed Mjioniir, killed several previously established side characters (including an entire army of Asgardians), and took Thor's eye. Gorr killed a bunch of unknown off-screen gods, and retreats from his first fight with Thor because he saw he was out-numbered. He was visually scary, sure, but there was no real feeling of danger to over-come. Even Korgs death ended up being a psych-out moment and a joke. As much as I (and probably most everyone) love Korg, that would have been a great way to establish the seriousness of Gorr on a very personal level.

My favorite part is when Stormbreaker is basically giving Thor side eye like “oh you talkin to HIM? Ok then…..” that was brilliant.

I feel the same way about this movie the way i felt about guardians 2.....it was an emotional spectacle and contained solo movie....I think Marvel is getting more hate than it deserves
And I've moved over the fact why this or that didn't happen in Infinity war and endgame.....they can never expand on the Marvel lore that way

This movie was a parody of Ragnarok. It didnt take itself serious. Gorr and Jane were only the characters I liked in this movie. Thor was a buffoon, Valkyrie looked uninterested, and Korg wouldn't shut up. The Goats were funny.

I love Ragnarok and I absolutely don't like this movie. The key word is balance. Ragnarok has that and this does not. Not to mention the razor thin, messy plot. Christian Bale was great like always but other than that, this movie left me cold. This is mid to bottom tier MCU

My theater was completely silent the entire film, none of the jokes really landed for me and I was a little disappointed in how much they changed the God Butcher story. I preferred the second half of the movie vs the first half. I loved Ragnarok, but I think the story and writing lacked a bit. Natalie Portmans performance was really touching, but I wish they would have fleshed out her battle with cancer a little more.

This movie was a total let down for me. The comics this movie is based on is freakin awesome and with the budget they had I thought they would deliver some godly content but nope. What we got was a total parody. It looked and felt like something that shoulda aired on Comedy Central.

Wish we saw Gorr butcher more than 1 God. Woulda been cool to see Gorr go where Zeus was and started killing Gods to show how powerful he is and then show Thor and co. steal the thunderbolt and try to escape amid the chaos.

Slight correction: I believe that the young girl who plays gorr's daughter is actually Chris Hemsworth's daughter, India Rose! Which if you think about it, makes their interactions at the end of the film even more sweet. 🥲

At the end of the day the most important thing is if you're ultimately entertained. You can have a movie that hits all the beats but as a whole it leaves you empty. I'll take this movie anytime than a Man of Steel or The Batman.

Immaculate visuals, use of color, and breakout performances by Gorr and Jane. My major problem with the film was the ending didn't make sense. I won't completely spoil it for those that haven't seen it, but they fiercely fought to stop Gorr from getting to a certain place and then in the end just gave him a motivational speech and left the fate of countless beings up to his good judgment. What if Gorr said, "F*ck it" after the pep talk and completed his plan? Couldn't Thor have used that opportunity to get what he wanted? It was a rushed and contrived plot that ultimately left me confused and disappointed.

Brett Goldstein has a terrific podcast called "Films To Be Buried With" where he interviews people, tells them they've died, and asks them questions about their lives through/via the films they've watched..
    Questions such as....
What was the first-ever film you saw?
What was the film that scared you the most?
What was the film that made you cry the most?
What film is TERRIBLE but you love it?
What is the film you once loved but watching it now you realise it's terrible?
What is the film that means the most to you? ...
    What is the sexiest film?
    It's very good.

Returning villains are here - Zemo, Emil Blonsky (Abomination), Kingpin, Vulture, Taskmaster (technically previous owner is retired, but still alive, the suit itself can be taken by someone new), Shocker, Thadeuss Ross (actor passed away, but they can easily say, he had military son, who pursues his fathers work and becomes Red Hulk?), Ghost, Agent13 - Sharon Carter is now a villain as well. Also anti-heroes, like USAgent (potentially a villain, he is still conflicted, but does really bad things at times and makes horrible choices) are still around, with Yelena making occassional mess. We also can very easily bring back Ultron with his multiple appearances in other multiverse shows clearly indicating he is to be reminded (What If, Doctor Strange MoM, Spiderman Homecoming).

I've been hearing the same thing from people watching it a second time. I had the same experience. I enjoyed the first time but the second time it was better. I dont know if it is the second viewing allows you to get more invested. The two montages, at the beginning explaining Thors sadness and at the end going thru Thor and Jane's breakup are beautiful and hit the feels even more since you know the outcome already.

I finally watched it last night on Disney+ and while I enjoyed I couldn't help but feel it could have been split into two, one focusing specifically on Gorr and the other on Jane becoming Thor. That or add an extra 20 odd minutes to flesh out both a little. I just felt like it was rushing through proceedings a bit.
