    Thanks for sharing cedar. That was great. I only roped up with Brad a few times, but when I did it was quick walls, such a fun partner. What a legend 💪

    I climbed and traveled extensively with Brad from 2009-14. He was truly a one of a kind person. I miss him and the world is a little bit worse off without him.

    I always felt some solidarity with Brad growing up in Denver. My climbing career kinda traced the line of his bigger films, really learning to climb in all the same places he was throwing the fuck down at. Everything in Eldo, the Grammici film in the Creek, etc. I was so heartbroken when he died, and I can hardly imagine how intense that feeling was for people with a real relationship with him, instead of a parasocial one like mine. Glad you waited to put this out, Brad’s legacy deserved time to settle, and people who loved him deserved time to do the same. A friend of mine recently spent the night on the ledge his partner landed on during the accident to avoid rapping off in the dark, so what happened to him has positively affected the safety and risk calculus of at least one person. I take some solace in that. Thanks for sharing, Cedar.

    I was at Virgin River Gorge, wanting to get on a classic 12. I asked multiple people if they’d belay me. Rejected, I started packing up to go to the other crag. Brad asks me if I wanted a belay. I didn’t know who he was. Super down to earth. I soon saw him on the front cover of a magazine and messaged him on Facebook. I don’t remember him acting this weird, without cameras on him. He seems to be uncomfortable with cameras lol. Dude was an alien.

      @@CedarWright I get that you obviously have to earn a living and people should pay for the media that they consume, but it seems very sad for the best video of Brad to be stuck behind a paywall. This won't help his legacy as a climber to be remembered, as time goes on his name will be heard by less people than it would by say it remaining on red bull tv which is a fairly large platform. I'm fortunate enough to have seen your video when it was freely available on RBTV and will forever look up to him as a climber, but people discovering climbing now will likely never even learn of the video. Just a thought.

    • @CedarWright
      @CedarWright  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can also watch it on outside tv if you are a member of their streaming service. Redbull TV isn’t exactly a huge audience…. Also that streaming license is up in another year and I can relicense it somewhere else if I want . Safety 3rd is going to always have an audience which probably will grow over time.

    I am kinda concerned that people will watch this and maybe they pulled off a couple stiff routes and may be drawn to free soloing.
    Well, all I can say is to do it only for yourself. If you are up, say 500 feet, and you blow it and as you are falling you were doing it so someone will stand up and take notice you had a very bad trick played on you.
