- Long Live Brad Gobright. I was cleaning out some hard drives and stumbled upon an interview I shot with Brad about a year after we filmed Safety 3rd, and only a couple months before he passed in a climbing accident. At the time I shot this I was thinking of starting a "talk show" and then I got sidetracked by other adventures and completely forgot this footage existed. It was bittersweet to revisit this interview, but I'm excited to release it to the world and watching it reinforced and reminded me of the fact that Brad was just a salt of the earth good dude, and truly a world class friend and climber.
Thanks for sharing cedar. That was great. I only roped up with Brad a few times, but when I did it was quick walls, such a fun partner. What a legend 💪
Pete
What a sweet, sweet soul! RIP
Thank you for sharing this, Cedar!
Thanks for that.
Brad is smiling right now, what a beautiful friendship.
It’s so bitter sweet…such a monster on the rock.
I climbed and traveled extensively with Brad from 2009-14. He was truly a one of a kind person. I miss him and the world is a little bit worse off without him.
as a complete stranger but also in a way being a fan of brad bc watching so much of him i feel he was just such a good dude man. did he pass away from soloing? i thought it was a bad tie off or something
This is so great. Thank you for keeping his memory alive.
I always felt some solidarity with Brad growing up in Denver. My climbing career kinda traced the line of his bigger films, really learning to climb in all the same places he was throwing the fuck down at. Everything in Eldo, the Grammici film in the Creek, etc. I was so heartbroken when he died, and I can hardly imagine how intense that feeling was for people with a real relationship with him, instead of a parasocial one like mine. Glad you waited to put this out, Brad’s legacy deserved time to settle, and people who loved him deserved time to do the same. A friend of mine recently spent the night on the ledge his partner landed on during the accident to avoid rapping off in the dark, so what happened to him has positively affected the safety and risk calculus of at least one person. I take some solace in that. Thanks for sharing, Cedar.
Thank you for posting. My condolences. Brad Gobright RIP. Very sad he had the accident.
RIP to the legend and best dirtbag. The gym bro antithesis ❤
this was great - thank you for releasing it. World lost a good soul too soon
Such a fun person. I thought he was severely underrated as a climber before this conversation and now find out he also murdered on the moonboard. I'm not surprised, it was just nice to hear. RIP
I can't believe I actually google to check if Honnold was ever in Playgirl.
I wish!
He was naked in ESPN magazine's Naked issue, though.
Does anyone else feel like that was actually the perfect way to end the interview 😂 . Would have liked it if it went longer, but seems very fitting to the style.
Big love!!
Safety third is still one of my favorite climbing movies. So sick. Thanks for sharing!
I was at Virgin River Gorge, wanting to get on a classic 12. I asked multiple people if they’d belay me. Rejected, I started packing up to go to the other crag. Brad asks me if I wanted a belay. I didn’t know who he was. Super down to earth. I soon saw him on the front cover of a magazine and messaged him on Facebook. I don’t remember him acting this weird, without cameras on him. He seems to be uncomfortable with cameras lol. Dude was an alien.
Can’t wait for this! Thank you for sharing Cedar, RIP BRAD GOBRIGHT!
Brad - the incredibly gifted, everyday Superman! Thank you Cedar for this fun, inside-baseball in memoriam.
R.I.P BRAD GOBRIGHT 🙌🙌. Grandísimo escalador, gran persona y una inspiración para Muchos
Thanks for this Cedar. Miss ya Brad. RIP
Golden! This so golden! And sort of unreal. It feels like nothing has happened. Love the black and white style. Who has crashed the set at end? Was that Sanni?
Miss you Brad. One of the last real dirtbags.
I never met Brad, but was deeply saddened by his loss. In EPC right now, for the first time. Thanks for posting, Cedar.
RIP. Thanks for sharing Cedar. Happy to keep the memory of Brad alive and the excitement for climbing amazing walls in pure style.
Rest easy Brad 🤙 what a tragic accident on Sendero. Always double check your gear and your systems folks!
I loved this video ! lol the ending to the video. bless ya. the camera fallin over was good and your preemptive be quiet ahah
Thanks for another great snapshot into a legends’ life Cedar. Brad has and always will be an inspiration, I remember him passing us on Epinephrine and giving beta to the guy struggling on lead while soloing. I’ll always wonder what else he could have accomplished in the climbing world. ❤
that is a SICK story/memory. amazing
My opinion but not a fan of the black and white.
Creative choice… 🖖
I never knew Brad but he inspired me a lot. Thanks for making this Cedar, Brad was such a unique, amazing climber

Me and my partner raced Brad to the start of West Crack thinking he was a complete Gumby. We didn’t realize who he was until he started soloing the route while his partner caught up lol! RIP Brad

Why isn't safety third on red bull tv?
Because I own it, not reel rock. I licensed it to them for the tour but not for streaming 😉
@@CedarWrightwhere can we watch it? Was trying to find somewhere to stream it and the only option I saw was sign up for $90 outside+ membership. Can I send you money and you send me the film?
You can stream it for a small one time fee from my Vimeo on demand page
@@CedarWright I get that you obviously have to earn a living and people should pay for the media that they consume, but it seems very sad for the best video of Brad to be stuck behind a paywall. This won't help his legacy as a climber to be remembered, as time goes on his name will be heard by less people than it would by say it remaining on red bull tv which is a fairly large platform. I'm fortunate enough to have seen your video when it was freely available on RBTV and will forever look up to him as a climber, but people discovering climbing now will likely never even learn of the video. Just a thought.
You can also watch it on outside tv if you are a member of their streaming service. Redbull TV isn’t exactly a huge audience…. Also that streaming license is up in another year and I can relicense it somewhere else if I want . Safety 3rd is going to always have an audience which probably will grow over time.
I am kinda concerned that people will watch this and maybe they pulled off a couple stiff routes and may be drawn to free soloing.
Well, all I can say is to do it only for yourself. If you are up, say 500 feet, and you blow it and as you are falling you were doing it so someone will stand up and take notice you had a very bad trick played on you.
