- Hi everyone! In this episode, I'm preparing some simple (and simply delicious) appetizers for cocktail-hour guests. Printable recipes for both the Bean Dip and the Salami in Puff Pastry are linked below. I hope the video inspires you to invite a couple of friends to your home for drinks and nibbles!

I miss this flair of the 50 abd 60's that my folks carried into my childhood. Not that I am that age yet but you keep alive what my parents did. Family and friends hosting on a reasonable budget without sacrificing class and dignity. That's what I remember from my relatives and parents. I wish more of this becomes tradition again.

Kevin, you must start using "Fresh Garlic"..... The taste is so much better...... and who knows what they put into that "Processed Garlic".......
This is what we and a lot of our friends do for dinner in Italy. Cocktail hour is really 5 pm-8 pm and called aperitivi in most of Italy. Meant to be little bites to get you thru to dinner, which doesn't start until 8 or 9 pm. Especially in the south like Napoli and Sicily, the food part is extensive and fantastic....lots of meats, cheese, salads, strata's, breads, chips, nuts, olives for the price of a drink or glass of wine. Sometimes we'll have a big lunch, then make the aperitivi our dinner. Adding some bean salads or grilled/sauteed veggies along with the other stuff makes for a complete and light meal. Then you go out for gelato at 9 pm afterwards :) And if you add some sweet red vermouth and Campari to the bar cart, your guests can make Negroni's! Very nice video, bravo.

I even made the apple pie (first time in my life I've tried a pie because the crust always seem difficult) I think I watched so many of your videos since then that I received a survey and a rating for your flatbread, I was very surprised as this was the first time You Tube has asked to rate or survey anything I've watched! I like how you explain things and give alternatives (except for alcohol ) lol .

Gorgeous open fire in your parlour with THAT mirror above...Heaven! I'm particularly taken by your Salami in puff pastry recipe. You make it look super simple. The cucumber wells are a great idea, better than pastry vol-au-vents for sure. Unfortunately cucumber doesn't agree with me so I'd need to try something else. Huge array of possible cocktails too. You can substitute courgette for the cucumber. Enjoy!!!

Made the salami in puff pastry. It is so easy and so delicious - huge reward for very little time and effort. I've made it about half a dozen times already and everyone adores it. It will be added to my `forever' list for of food for drinks parties as the `hot' element. Thanks from the UK.

Everything you do is simply elegant.
The puff pastry so reminds me of the cocktail hours (de riguer at my house) in the 60s & 70s. My mother did the most fantastic puff pastry appetizers. She did do salami and gruyere triangules.
The easiest that she did was a round of Camembert that she chilled well, then cut in half, sprinkled brown sugar and nuts (pecans or walnuts) over one half, covered with the other half. Put it in the fridge to chill, then wrapped it in puff pastry. Back in the fridge, or freezer, then an egg wash and into the oven it went. It was served with crackers. Lovely gooey cheese with the sweet nuts, devine!
