This was in 1995. I was in my 10th std. I refused to believe that it was a godly miracle and asked my science teacher. He said it's happening because of surface tension. I gathered a couple of my tuition friends, called them home and demonstrated the same with a pen and water. The water also looked like it was getting sucked by the pen. I then explained to them that if you see, the water is not sucked but collected below. And this is what is happening with all idols.
The next day, both these friends began to tell others the same. I had done my bit.
The moral of the story is: the voices of belief are always louder and stronger. But it doesn't mean that everyone was fooled. There were people like my science teacher who silently knew the facts and truth. It's only that those voices are never heard.
Similar experience. , people like to take easy route.. blame/credit on something rather than finding how/why?
People always hear what they want to hear.

I remember this day very clearly. I had just finished my schooling when one day my dad who went to shop for veggies and stuff came back one evening and told us about this phenomenon. He apparently saw many temples where there were long queues and people were feeding milk. Those days we had a plaster of Paris Ganesha idol at our home which gulped the entire milk or it flowed out and was absorbed by the material. I tried to repeat it on a porcelain idol of Krishna and it failed. I realised what was happening and told my parents not to fall for the scam and luckily they believed me. Good work Pranav to bring back the long forgotten scams to our memory ! ❤

Exactly. Science community always feels attacked whenever the masses aka fools try to experiment with science and call it miracle. These people were not going to do anything dumb because of one illusion they thought was cool. But scientists always freak out and feel the need to attack people before even themselves completely figuring out what is happening. People still continued with their experiments even after those explanations so sometimes it’s better to just let people enjoy things that are happening instead of debating and calling them out. Just say what you personally believe the reason can be and why you won’t participate in it and let them decide what they want to do with that info

This is something our new generations need to understand. I have seen potential youth of our country shouting and abusing with a saffron flag. There was a news headline about some youngsters who bullied old aged patient on Holi while shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' The same people could had been in a better place. But religion has completely blinded them. If we ask them about evolution, origin of universe and basic principles behind daily life events, they would not able to answer. It is because they never focussed in their Science classes and were busy in doing Hindu Muslim. And then they start spreading messages like '5g causes cancer' or 'Cow dung can cure skin diseases' Scientific temperament has been completely lost in our youth.
Yes when Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan were formed, your rationalist eyes were sleeping but now your eyes have woken after 2014 and Hindu-Muslims are only done by saffron clad people and they used to bomb mosques in Soviet Russia, China, Cambodia.... Where are you when Hindus were getting killed in Kashmir or Mizoram with no retaliation and still they are facing persecution in Bengal or Kerala and slogans like "Brahmin desh chorke jao, Eradicate Hinduism which is like dengu malaria" are told openly but when Nupur Sharma told something about deeds of a great prophet but 6 Hindus are killed for supporting her in a Hindu majority country or where are you on millions of people were murdered by radical atheists of 17th century France, Soviet union, Cambodia, China, Mongolia, Revolutionary Mexico etc. ?

math is used in physics (all the subtopics), chem and bio. now, someone would say that math is math. someone else would say math is bio, math is phy, math is chem etc etc. here, the subject your relating it to is the religion. math without all of these is still math, so math is the right answer.

Dope again you skip half of the science. This event happened worldwide. Even metal statues consumed milk and hundreds or people fed milk and it consumed more then the size of the statues. There were many who left this as an event that could not be explained. There are also some idols of Mary and Jesus that bleed and goes on for days without any explanation. I remember this event as a kid back then and saw it happened here in Canada. Also if you go to the same statues they will not consume the milk today but it did in sept 1995. You can’t explain this by science

First of all, your comment just reminded me of Science Is Dope channel's old About description where he too stated something like "We often focus on memorizing textbooks and vomiting them on exams for marks, but never strive to understand the concepts..." Obviously, it's been changed; don't know why, but glad that some similar text can be seen on the channel's official website.
Secondly, there's two channels that come to mind when I read the "education system trap" aspect in ur comment, both of which have been promoted by Pranav himself - bioshala 01 and StayQrious. (The former was recommended in the penultimate video on DD Rational while the latter was more like a sponsorship collab in a Dr Pal video on the same channel)
But again, there's some things to consider: the bioshala channels are in Hindi; so if you're someone who's a Hindi speaker or atleast who can understand the lang, then u may find this one useful. The second one, StayQrious is focused on younger age groups, ig (Anyone who's aware of this one, correct me if I'm wrong)
I would also suggest you the Shorts from The Planetary Society. And, finally, would recommend you to ask questions in AI chatbots if you need answers to certain things. I personally rely upon Google's Gemini since it can access info from real-time net, and most importantly, if I do enquire bout something in it and the response sounds a little unbelievable, I would write my next prompt as "Provide proper convincing legitimate scientific evidence for the same." I know it's too much words but that's what I do to get the best results. 😁
At this point I think miracle is anything that is not well researched.

For background I have been following atheism/rationalism discourse online for past six years by following various online debate personalities like Destiny, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Cosmic Skeptic, Rationality Rules etc.... One thing that is common among all the conspiracy theorists they debate (flat-earthers, anti medicine, anti-vax) is that they do not trust institutions of science which actually does research and promotes science based worldviews/solutions (NASA for flat earthers, Big Pharma for anit-vaxxers etc..) Obviously blindly trusting them would be an appeal to authority fallacy. But if you are making a claim against them you must have great evidence.
I recently saw your podcast. Your guest supported capitalism and you were making arguments in favor of socialism. Now most economic think tanks and organizations like the World Economic Forum, World Bank, and generally most of the economists in the world are against socialism and support a capitalistic system with lots of social safety nets. The particular brand of capitalism may vary, but all of them support a free trade, free association based system (so essentially capitalism) and oppose socialism or command economies of any kind.
So what made you defend an economic system that almost all economic institutions are against? That approach seems very similar to the institutional distrust conspiracy theorists have. I am not criticizing you just curious :)

One man named Narendra dabholkar used to run an organisation named 'Andhashraddha Nirmulan samiti' in maharashtra .He used to expose all these fraudsters babas and all. He became very popular during 2012 ,2013. He just used to do one thing to expose them . Go in the darbar with random men and the baba wasn't allowed to contact anyone before that so he don't get the information about them from anyone. And the babas were then asked to predict and tell about the man and guess what everyone used to fail. After his miraculous work in exposing them he was killed in 2013 and in a year or so his friend running the organistion with him were also killed. Guess the name of organistion who killed them . It was men from SANATAN SANSTHA . It was in respect of his death that gov of maharashtra passed a law to criminalize such superstitions. ( It was prevention of superstitions act 2013 or 14) . And the case wasn't allowed to progress further as bjp government came later. It was just a few days back the accused for his murder were given life time jail. It took literally 11 years for his justice . This is what happens if we expose them.
Also dhirendra uncle (bagha boy) was challenged by the same organiton in 2022 or something when he visited maharashtra . Guess what he ran away to rajasthan after they challenged him and told them to come there as he knew that the law only exist in maharashtra so no one can do anything in Rajasthan .

In 2004 at the age of 13,I heard about this incident from my elder cousin sister who herself offered milk and she told me that ganesh ji drank milk. She was brilliant in academics and she was intelligent to ask for advice. That time I used to theist So I had to believe her.

The funny part is, The most beautiful and perfect explanation was given by the ' mochi ' ( cobbler) sitting in front of IIT Delhi when he spoon fed the milk to his shoe mending tool and apparently that tool drank the milk too.
It was a worthy watch.
The explanation is that the milk has a property, if it is spilled over even on a black object in thin layer it almost disappears instantly. Giving an expression as the idol just drank it.
It's sad that the diverse and unorganised nature of Hinduism creates a lot of room for superstitions.

Yes but his RUclips channel remains active because he's exposing superstitions in Indian culture. If he targeted Abrahamic religions, he might face ban or at least heavy trolling. I say exposing superstition is very much beneficial for the well being of people but, not all religions tolerate such criticism well. I'm saying that.

I have a vivid memory of this day. In this particular place, Lord Ganesha is revered as the deity. Interestingly, in my maternal uncle's village, they offered milk to Mata Sambaleswari. I was just a young child, around 4 or 5 years old, at the time.
