My church choir sang this back in the day (SATB). Our rendition of it (ca. 1966) remains a high point in my memory, because (sorry to be so naughty) the part about the kine was given to a very hefty female TENOR who sloshed around pitch-wise -- the part about the kine lowing -- well, let's just say my pal and I should have gotten medals for behaving ourselves during that. I have been imitating and re-living that kine line for fifty years with great enjoyment!.

Wonderful. Wish I had found this first before sending other chosen ecards. The voice and music, graphics say it all.

Mr. Brumfield's improvisation is lovely, as are Liza Lehmann's song and Verda Tudor's interpretation. Quite the vocal feat, so gently (to the listener's ear) and beautifully accomplished.
Do we know if Lehmann's melody is from the Breton folk song, or did she compose the melody as it is recorded here? I'll look for a stricter translation, should be interesting.
    Thank you for this pleasure.
