Fun Fact #1 The "Bold to assume I won't rewatch the entire stream on the Stream Archive" comment he reads out at 11:20 is from me (Flagnarb) I said this mainly bc I figured I wasn't gonna watch the whole thing but... Fun Fact #2 I am now rewatching the entire stream as promised, even though I already watched the whole stream live. Fun Fact #3 rt noticed me and that gave me dopamine. that is all. Really nice watching the streams live, and the archive does good since I normally don't wake up early enough to catch the live streams :D
Barry is really good for exactly one thing, and it's admittedly a gimmick: If you time it right, you can activate Barry just before landing on an enemy, and you'll be able to get in a second hit with 50% power. This can be pretty crazy alongside Bowser or while using something like Hot Sauce.
45:44 It was a reference to a highly popular DS game called Brain Age. This game came out in 07 on the Wii so the reference would have been pretty timely, especially given the sequels. I think the youngest age was 18 or 25, and your brain age could be as old as 60 or 70.
This is one of those games I feel nostalgic for despite never playing it myself. I‘ve watched a Let‘sPlay once when I was way younger, but this kind of story stays with you forever, even if you only experienced it second-hand.
Wow this dialogue is completely different. Peach said yelled instead of spanked and Dimentio called Luigi a pushover instead of saying he's got a shag of a moustache
4:21:29 So in the North American version of this game Dimentio makes fun of Luigi's mustache instead of calling him a pushover, saying the shag of hair on his lip would make for a nice trophy. Anyone that knows English slang or has watched Austin powers knows why this is funny and why they changed it for the UK release.
52:32 This lady Hagness actually mentions something pretty juicy that you can glimpse but Dan glosses over... spoilers.... She had a thing for Luvbi's "father", the ruler of the Over There. She was Jades's love rival, and when she lost to her, her hair turned white like it is now out of depression.
I know you won't see this, but the Count did want to create a more perfect world in the place of all that was "rotten". But yes, it was hypocritical to try to bring about peace and love through multiversal genocide.
oh god yeah i remember the stairs from when i was a kid. they were too long for me and the questions were too difficult so i would just let my mom do it all for me while i watched. they were so boring. plus my mom didnt know that carrie speeds you up so we were always so slow, plus the fact she never stopped being bowser.
Me, watching this a year late, and I can only fixate on one thing, and it’s a pedantic nerd thing: …Middle English. The characters are speaking Middle English; Shakespeare, Marlowe etc. RT’s course was in Old English (Beowulf etc.), a language closer to German than modern English. No wonder it was so hard. Old English is evil.
When you meet "Merlee" in the castle and she asks you some questions about what enemies you fear, it reminds me of the original Paper Mario. You are given answers to choose from. A weak opponent, a stronger opponent(honest answer), or an item. It's so silly.
It's kinda good because the automod went derpmode and considered "count" as a bad word. Nobody could say "Count Bleck" or "Bleck count" the entire 3days this game was streamed.
This is a flawed game gameplay-wise, but it doesn't mean it has one of my favorite stories and premises. Perhaps the very reason why, along with the music, I still remember it to this day.
2:25:27 I said it before and I'll say it again. This song is eerily similar to the songs Phantoms/The Travel Agency from FFX. And given that Tidus and many characters here are in the same boat of not really being who they thought they were... I'm suspicious.
The reasoning of Luigi always being a vessel for evil is that he has the three emotions that make him the ultimate villain: hatred for Mario, always being in his shadow. Lust for peach, I wish I was joking, but he wants peach. Of course, he thinks bowser is a crap villain, and laughs to himself how pathetic he is. This is my shitpost of the month.
Really enjoyed watching RT play this. ONLY because RT was playing it, and made it actually funny. The game itself is abysmal dreck. The story contains alot of really fucked up things that it just rushes right past, and ends with Tippi saying " I'm cool with your attempt at genociding all creation." Super Mario RPG still remains the best Super Mario RPG. Not that Super Paper Mario is an RPG. It's an RPG like LaCroix is flavored.
Who asked? Your opinion doesn’t matter and never will. The people who love this game (me RT and many others) will love the game. Plus you millennials need to fuck off with shitty Mario RPG. No one cares about Geno and all that shit anymore. Grow up. There’s gonna be new and better games than Mario RPG.
