Now you are talking! Old school KISS and one of their best songs 1974. This is off of their first self-titled album was incredible - this song, "Deuce", "Firehouse", "Nothin To Lose", Cold Gin", "Black Diamond" and more. The entire album kicks ass! I would listen to the KISS ALIVE I & II (both double albums) on constant repeat when I was a kid and just stare at the album cover, open them up and look at the images and read liner notes. It was mesmerizing! Great reaction and choice of song!
A couple of months ago a very close friend from my childhood passed away of cancer, and his favorite group was Kiss, today would have been his 54th birthday. I know it’s just a coincidence, but thank you for doing this reaction on his birthday.
Sorry to hear of your friends passing. Chills and am sad. KISS has always been my all time favorite band and have been there my whole life. God bless you and your late friend and family and friends.
Fun fact: This song was inspired by good-looking women in New York City who wore sexy clothes. If you were looking for introspective lyrics in 1974, there were lots of places to find them, but not on a Kiss album.
YES, finally something from the debut album, imo, their best. So many tracks from this album were staples at all their live shows & Strutter being one of them. Guys, keep hitting this album. Black Diamond Deuce 100,000 years Cold Gin Nothin' To Lose Firehouse Like I said, all staples through out their career. Jay, I got two things for you. One, why are pausing it in the middle of Ace's solo, never pause in the middle of a solo. Two, Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go.
@@DavidRold-pt3ngin his defense, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to pause the song again to avoid the copyright strike. For all he knows, the solo is going to last the rest of the song. I had a friend that knew more about rock stars than anyone else. he was a rock and roll encyclopedia. I saw KISS on TV one night. Like most people, I was blown away. The next day, I asked him about KISS and he never heard of them. I was the one who introduced him to KISS. Of course he found out about them. But for one moment, I was the king of rock trivia. I felt like I had just whipped Hulk Hogan in a wrestling match.
“ Hooligan” with Peter Criss on lead vocals, a catchy rock’n song that’s tongue in cheek funny. It was my parent’s favorite Kiss song. I could play it loud in my room and not get in trouble.
My high school band played Strutter for our senior talent show. 35 years later, my current band still plays this song (along with many other KISS songs). Old school KISS is timeless.
I would love to see their reaction to "Plaster Caster"....and of course the meaning behind the song. It would be priceless. Oh, Miss Cynthia Plaster Caster.
The very beginning! 1st song off KISS' 1st album, and the image you had up was the album cover. It's still one of their best albums. You MUST do Black Diamond, preferably live on the Modnight Special. Peter Criss does a killer lead vocal.
One of my favorite songs of all time. I cruised many miles to this tune cranked up all the way! Their whole first album absolutely rocked. Play "Black Diamond". If you liked Strutter, you'll also like Black Diamond.
I agree with you! They are simply the best! the total package! All the bands and pop stars of all genres stole the KISS Pyro, Flames and over the top shows, and dare I say, most fail big time in doing so, being their music is not proper to have the pyro & flames.
THIS is the first KISS song I ever heard. I have been a KISS fan since 1974. I saw the first album on the rack in a local department store.... I was fascinated by their appearance (make-up) so my Uncle bought it for me. We were both hooked. A few weeks later he came home from work with 2 tix to see them that night... Seen every U.S. tour, 70 shows... including their last on December 2, 2023.
classic Kiss....i grew up on the original four....so the first five years of Kiss are a part of my heart. deuce, parasite, strangeways, i stole your love, calling dr love, shout it out loud. but please guys, you need to do Kiss concert videos when you do the songs. amber mentioned paul stanley and not seeing him. Kiss was known as a live band. their first three albums flopped because the fans felt there was a disconnect between the albums and their live performances. Alive blew the roof open for Kiss. two songs you need to react to are firehouse because gene breathes fire and 100,000 years because gene spits blood at the beginning. these songs need to be viewed from the 1975 era....peace
One of my favorite KISS songs. I've been listening to them from the beginning. Years ago, my then teenage sons were playing Guitar Hero and trying to play this song. I grabbed the "guitar" and proceeded to perfectly nail it. It helps to know the song inside out.
I saw them live in June 1974 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. They played almost every song in this first album. They were the opening act for a British group called Savoy Brown, but Kiss definitely stole the show. “Black Diamond” is epic Kiss.
KISS is best experienced live. Their stage presence is phenomenal, and their antics are something to behold. Their best performances are with the original lineup of Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter. Some of their best live performances on RUclips come from their 1970s tours, their 1998 reunion tour, and their Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Concert. The 1998 Brooklyn Bridge Concert is killer, especially their performance of Rock 'n' Roll All Night.
It's amazing how you don't hear a song for years and when you do finally hear it again you still know it word for word! I had forgotten about this song. Thanks from an Okie to ya'll Okies!🥰
Old KISS deep cuts are *so* underrated. Everybody thinks they were only about the "look," and only had a few good songs, but their back-category is wall to wall 4/4 cock-rock bangers. They're simply undeniable.
"Deuce" and "Shock Me," next please! Ace is my focus, and "Shock Me" has the bass, the drums and Ace's best solo on wax! "Parasite" is also killer.. written by Ace, sung by Gene... heavy, early Kiss!
@One_Proud_Papa the catalog of Awesome solo material from Ace is pretty large for this guy! "Rip It Out," "Snowblind," "Speedin' Back to My Baby," just scratch the surface! "I hope you suffer!" 😁
This was my first KISS album back in the 70's. I was 7 or 8 and my friend's teenage brother had it and I wanted it. To my surprise my mom actually got it for me. I think she thought they were kid stuff because of the makeup😂 She wasn't up on any current music as she was an older mom. Love this song!
First 3 Kiss albums are absolute gold standard pure rock n roll. I can't begin to comprehend how a rock/hard rock fan would dislike them because of their self-exploitative commercial tactics. Guess what? Every single legendary rock and metal band is doing it these days, so I guess Kiss got the last laugh, and was the most honest of the bunch.

The 1st album that started all the chaos!!! There's so much more in the KISS history. Songs from the ELDER and Unmasked. Two unrated album's. Some good songs like the Oath, World without Heros, I, Is that You, Shandi, What makes the World go Round... Ect. Jay would love also War Machine great bass by Gene in it.
I was acquainted with a local musician (a KISS fanatic) for years but I could tell he still hadn't made his mind up about me for some reason. That is until I busted out some Strutter on an acoustic guitar at a party. We've been friends ever since🤘
The first song on the first side of the first album by the greatest band of all time--KISS! I tore the house down on karaoke night singing this song. If you like this, you should check out C'mon And Love Me--a very underrated song, but also a great song--just like all of them!
My all time Favorite Band. Seen the well over 30 times. Met them. Gene was my first Influence and Hero on Bass when I started playing back in the mid 80's.
I remember the version of Strutter on Double Platinum where you could hear the fingers sliding on the strings during the chorus. I always thought that was cool. I've been calling for "Unholy" on your last few KISS videos. "War Machine" would also be a good one.
1st album- saw this tour when we only had the album cover to go by not having a clue what we’d see - saw them again in ‘76 when they were starting to get huge.
A great song. KISS has a song called Ladies Room that is quite wild. I thought about this song the other day when you did Meet Me in the Ladies Room. Another song is Black Diamond. There is a great video from a show called The Midnight Special. You will see raw early KISS in all their glory. Drummer Peter Criss sings the majority of this song. It leads to Peter's drum kit rising into the air and then a total destruction of said drum kit. Back in the day this song lead into Peter's drum solo so you also want to find a concert video of this song to see the whole thing. One last song, Plaster Caster. I just need to see you guys react to the lyrics and subject matter of this song lol.
This is the very first Kiss song I ever heard in 1974. They were just starting out and played this and "Black Diamond" on ABC's Friday late night "In Concert" TV show, their first ever TV appearance. There were a bunch of us hanging out at my buddies house and when Kiss came out in the makeup and started playing "Strutter" we were all like who are these guys?
Classic Kiss with one of many classic songs on this album. Also, a classic Album cover as Peter Criss had his makeup put on by a studio member. Hence the wiskers and others features on Peter’s Criss’s makeup that was night the Cat design, that Peter actually used as his makeup design. All 4 were also holding up black sheet like material, to hide their bodies, so just their heads would show.
Great Song! Truly one of my all time favorite KISS songs! Next off same Record, BLACK DIAMOND from the 1975 live performance on the great show MIDNIGHT SPECIAL. You two are the best! And so is KISS!
Thanks for listening to the 1974 studio version. 50 years old and still sounds fresh. The sign of a classic song. Check out the Donington monsters of rock 1988 live version of this song, it's awesome. Paul's voice is amazing
@billa3785 yes I did notice. I remember buying a Greatest Hits CD years ago and there was a very crappy mix of Hard Luck Woman on there. Plus, they had since re-recorded a lot of songs, maybe to eliminate Ace and Peter's names from the recordings. I wouldn't want them to react to any of those either.
A band I woked with did this song. Our singer, from New England, had a Steve Tyler voice. Our lead guitarist played a Gibson SG and did a good job matching the drag-along sound. Imagine Steve Tyler singing Strutter..lol.
Yes, finally something from the debut album, imo, their best. So many tracks from this album were staples in their live shows all through the decades & Strutter was one of them. Black Diamond Deuce 100,000 Years Cold Gin Nothin' To Lose Firehouse All staples in their live shows. So please, keep hitting that. Jay I got two things for you. As a guitarist who had never heard of Kiss before I bought this album at 11 years old just because of the cover. I later joined the Kiss army (nerds in middle school) and to this day I can't leave the house or the car until the guitar solo is over in any song. 😂

KISS unplugged, "I still love you"
One of Paul's best vocal. Ever.

"black diamond" and "100,000 years". Two good ones
Need to do the midnight special version of 100,000 years. Also "She" from the Midnight Special is great, Gene on vocals.

Kiss - War Machine

There is a great video from a show called The Midnight Special. You will see raw early KISS in all their glory. Drummer Peter Criss sings the majority of this song. It leads to Peter's drum kit rising into the air and then a total destruction of said drum kit. Back in the day this song lead into Peter's drum solo so you also want to find a concert video of this song to see the whole thing. One last song, Plaster Caster. I just need to see you guys react to the lyrics and subject matter of this song lol.
I was at the 87' TEXXAS JAMM ,Paul Stanley came on stage with POISON and played this song .
Amazing performance!!!
This song and Duece are my 2 favorite KISS songs. So happy you did this one finally.
All 4 were also holding up black sheet like material, to hide their bodies, so just their heads would show.
awesome to click to your channel again. Rock on Rob Squad
From “Alive!” Album:
Black Diamond
Cold Gin
100,000 Years
I always liked Let Me Go Rock and Roll off the live album to...just made u wanna get up and jam.
@@dawngipe6324 another great pick!
Reminds me of Guitar Hero 2! I played those Guitar Hero games so much
The debut 'KISS' thru 'Love Gun' are my favorite KISS era and albums. I never got into anything after that.
Detroit Rock City in Rock Honors VH1 is an amazing video performed by KISS.
Calling Dr Love by Kiss, that's the one you need to hear next!
From the Rock and Roll Over album. (it's original) No other version compares.
@billa3785 well, hopefully they listen to the original version because I wouldn't want to hear any other version.
@@magneto7930 Agree, that is why I mentioned it. The remastered, and on other albums sound different. Not sure is you ever noticed.
@@magneto7930 Smashes, Thrashes, and Hits?
The very first song on their very first album in 1974
A band I woked with did this song. Our singer, from New England, had a Steve Tyler voice. Our lead guitarist played a Gibson SG and did a good job matching the drag-along sound. Imagine Steve Tyler singing Strutter..lol.
YESSSSSSSSS...FAV song from Kiss,well top 5
Yes, finally something from the debut album, imo, their best.
So many tracks from this album were staples in their live shows all through the decades & Strutter was one of them.
Black Diamond
Deuce
100,000 Years
Cold Gin
Nothin' To Lose
Firehouse
All staples in their live shows. So please, keep hitting that.
Jay I got two things for you. One, why are you pausing in the middle of Ace's solo. Never pause in the middle of a solo.
Two, Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go
As a guitarist who had never heard of Kiss before I bought this album at 11 years old just because of the cover. I later joined the Kiss army (nerds in middle school) and to this day I can't leave the house or the car until the guitar solo is over in any song. 😂
Y’all HAVE GOT TO START doing live performances of KISS
You know when Rob says "Hey" he likes it🤘🤘🤘😀 you guys are so fun!!! Long time subscriber, love you two💙
Kiss is a band that almost everyone can tap a foot to and smile. Amber my wife loves your hair. Stay golden y'all. Peace
Gotta love KISS! Great old tune!
Hard to go wrong with something from KISS !
you can never replace the feeling of reviewing and holding the album cover while listening to the album
A great song that features Gene is “Domino”
This is my favourite kiss and my favourite song of all time. It is classic kiss
Live on The Midnight Special! Amazing, early, classic KISS. You’ll love it!!

Strutter is early Kiss, and the music that attracted me to their music as a kid. Really good stuff
