    I'm hearing the guitar, the bass and the drums. I'm also hearing some tones that feel like they must be overdubs, but this is live. Its all very confusing. But absolutely wonderful. I can feel the warmth of the late afternoon sun and can hear the buzz of the insects in the background. I want to sit there in the grass with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and just listen.

    It's very difficult to sound different than everyone else, but Yvette has done that. Really interesting playing. Love it!

    Yes, there are overdubs- some xylophone (or guitar synth) pads (1:33), and the musicians are performing to a pre-recording, but it's wonderful music.

  • @msiband

    Isn't this jazz rock too? How did it get labeled math rock? What's the etymology of that, is it mathematical related?

    • @JoeSzilagy
      @JoeSzilagy Год назад +2

      I don't know where the 'Math' term comes from. To me it is 'prog', and good prog at that. I can only guess that perhaps the term comes from having various time changes and signatures. And yes, there is often a relation between jazz rock (fusion) and prog too.

    • @capnjames
      @capnjames Год назад

      It’s not a clear cut thing tbh but usually if it’s got some Midwest Emo/Post Hardcore leaning elements it’s more likely to be described as math rock than prog rock or jazz rock. Sometimes I call it emo jazz. Some other artists in this genre to check out would be Toe, Tricot, Algernon Cadwallader, Capn’ Jazz, Pens+, American Football
