I am pretty sure there have been tornadoes Hurricanes and storms before the internal combustion engine was invented..
The Grand Canyon was not carved out by heavy, melting snow, and heavy rain water that just showed up in the past 150 years..
The Earth has been going through warm cold cycles for tens of thousands of years. In fact, we are overdue for the next ice age by a few hundred years. We know this by earth core samples. The last Ice Age was around 10 or 12,000 years ago, that’s the one that carved out the great lakes in North America. The ice that carved out the great lakes was 2 miles thick in parts. If that sounds unbelievable, think about this. Greenland, which is larger than the continental United States, is mostly covered with ice, some of which is from the last ice age. Pure Frozen water before chemical compounds were created by man on Greenland in many parts, that ice is over a mile thick… they are still finding tusks from mammoths in the gold fields of Alaska, that have been there since the last Ice Age..
when I was in school, a few decades ago, we learned that the temperature will go up A degree or two over the next thousand years or so, and that will be a good thing for the growing season the further away from the equator you are. They will be able to grow tropical crops as far north as the Carolinas in North America, the growing season will not be just 90 days, it will be about 120 days a year around the 45th parallel. there will be a longer growing season to feed the world. this is a good thing
another good part of the temperature rising a degree or two will be, people will not have to burn as much fossil fuel in the form of coal, natural gas, or wood to heat their homes in the winter, large buildings won’t have such a big gas bill in the winter either..
nature has a way of balancing things that are out of balance. If it gets a degree or two warmer, this will cause more evaporation of water from the oceans, and more cloud cover, which makes things cooler, there will also be rain from these clouds…
we do not get our oxygen from trees or plants as much as we get our oxygen from the oceans. From the plankton in the oceans, and they need carbon dioxide to live, they absorb carbon, and they release oxygen.
trees on the other hand, do release oxygen during the day, but when the sun sets they actually absorb oxygen..
The British have been paying very close attention to the temperatures of the planet around the world since World War II. Some good things come out of advances in science brought about by wars.
so the armies of the Americans, British, Australians, Canadians, needed to know the weather day today and weather trends, so they could plan battles and invasions..
after the war, they maintained that close detailed gathering of weather averages around the world ever since World War II. It’s still going on today.
as of 2020, all of those places that the British have been gathering temperature data from around the world, not specific places that the one-sided people like to twist their agenda by taking temperatures in specific places, but the British that took the same temperatures from everywhere they have been taking them for over 75 years, they have come up with the average temperature over the past 70 or 75 years. They found that the average temperature has not deviated more than Half of a degree Celsius, in 75 years on average..
it’s not really a good thing to allow yourself to become a victim of propaganda, companies, planting a seed of doubt, using out of context, examples of weather extremes..
I worked outside most of my adult life. I remember 1988 here in Pennsylvania when I worked outside that year. We had 44 days above 90° that year, and two days that it actually went over 100°, that has only happened less than five times in this part of Pennsylvania since they have been keeping temperature records. That was 36 years ago. The very next year, I think we had 58 inches of rain, it rained so much, that I gave up waiting for dry days and started riding my motorcycle in the rain on weekends..
since 1988 and 1989, most years it never even goes near 90° here. And we haven’t had as much rain as we had in 1989 since then.
what about the dust bowl years in the Midwest, all those years with no rain, now, here we are watching videos on RUclips, about terrible storms where, in the Midwest
two years ago, the Mississippi river water level was too low for barge traffic in many places, now along the Mississippi, and in all the reservoirs of California, they are at a surplus of water. All the reservoirs in California or above maximum.
My point is, just because of a couple isolated years, you can’t say the world weather is going to change forever. The fact is, nobody knows.
Today?
Should residents of high-risk areas have more input in disaster preparedness plans and policies?
