I am the son of a tornado chaser, seen hundreds, but this is the most vivid one I've ever seen. No distortion, no rain wrap, not too dark, didn't match the clouds behind, just perfect. My heart goes out to those affected. That being said, this is one of the most beautiful tornados I've ever seen.
15 years ago me and a few others from my class helped plant some of those trees around the lake and old event center. I made an effort to visit the park every year since then to see how they’ve been growing. To see them getting blown away like that, It’s hard to watch 😞
So sorry dude. That really sucks. It's wild to think how little control we really have over our futures... but it's no reason not to get up and try again because one day, hopefully, it'll all be worth it.
It really does look like it could be, doesn't it? I doubt it is though, judging by other close up footage available as well as the slower, more natural looking motion of items farther from the funnel at the same time. It would almost be more comforting in a way if it turned out that it was sped up, because being real, wow...amazing but terrifying. It helps to understand better just how these things can be so destructive and deadly, even the smaller ones like this.
Everyone praising the American Flag, but the other two were actually still fully flying while it was only hanging on by one loop. Just amazed all three survived.
What was scary about this tornado, other than the trees that were being sucked out, is that it was accelerating and that the funnel clouds were dipping before going back up and vice versa. Imagine how long the tornado is far from above when up close.
@@mynameisyourname148 If it looks like it's slowly getting bigger, it's moving towards you. I'd assume the opposite applies if it was moving away. Either way, I'm taking cover if a tornado strikes down, even if it doesn't look like it's coming towards me. I'm not taking the chance.
The Tri-State tornado of March 18, 1925, killed 695 people in Missouri (11), Illinois (613), and Indiana (71). It pull a child from the arms of her mother she hut a lamp post so hard she split in two. So for those that say a tornado is harmless stop watching movies.
Just visited Andover last summer and swam in the actual YMCA that 22’ drove a car into a water ride there. Exciting yet sad. Ryan Hall Y’all first made me aware of this on his live stream as it happened.
If you zoom close enough... You can see that white suv chevy tahoe or gmc yukon slightly lifting up as the tornado aproaches the parking lot and across behind the building 😮
It's amazing, scary, and informative to see how instantaneously the tornado changes direction once it meets the land. There really isn't any time to outrun it and no way of knowing whch way it will turn within the spilt-seconds it does. Amazing and terrifying at once.
Some of the trees disappeared so completely that if you had been a student and then came back after this storm, you might not have even been sure what trees had been there before. Snapped off at ground level and then dragged off to never be seen again.
It's interesting how the tornado is just lollygagging around in the background not doing much of anything until about 4:05. Then suddenly it picks up both girth and speed. I was awestruck by how fast it suddenly moved! Wow!
Sad to see all the damage, on the flip side this is excellent footage that someone may be able to use to build the damaged areas back stronger. Video shows great view of how tornados cause so much damage.
I saw this tornado from my back porch. Missed us by about a mile. Video on my page. Not as incredible as this one! I live about 7 miles north of here. The storm took a direct hit at the YMCA my son was supposed to be working out at and he was so mad I didn’t take him that day

That's a mighty strong rope holding those flags down while trees are learning to fly right next to them

Respect to you and your friend
I feel so bad for you sorry for your loss
scary how calm everything was before the Tornado even entered the picture...
The way it sweeps everything towards it is insane and its not even passing directly on it and the force close to it its amazing wow
Scary. Tornadic winds are far wider than the ''visible'' wedge of a tornado.
I really thought they sped the video up at the end. Those winds hit incredible speeds.

@dacoge It isn't sped up, this thing was spinning at 155 mph. One hit the same town in '91 but it was almost a mile wide and 260 mph.
It is sped up. Look at the movement of the flags at the beginning. It isnt natural.
The flags hanging on for dear life!!! Incredible wow. Seeing the tornado come to the camera so close, I could almost feel it. Great footage!!!
When the tornado begins to come towards City Hall, is really terrifying.
Everyone praising the American Flag, but the other two were actually still fully flying while it was only hanging on by one loop. Just amazed all three survived.
The American flag is the focus, not the others. Period.
I bet the Flags were RIPPED

Incredibly violent rotation.
The American flag was flapping like CRAZY and one corner even came lose. It`s amazing that it stayed.
the power of America baby.
that is a vantage point I would never have thought of! amazing
What makes this scary to me is the lack of sound. The tornado creeps in.
Wow, those trees got ripped out and disappeared. Imagine what that power can do to a person(s) just walking right there.
If a person may be blown in the air so high.

Old Glory still flies!
i was pulling for old GLORY to still be there
Only because it was not in its path
How did the car survived I saw video and I was actually surviving. I cannot believe with the tornado didn’t see it. 😮

I love how the USA Flag survived.

God this is so heartbreaking for me, I used to live in andover until 2018 and moved to Texas, when i see these videos of the destruction I cry.
Especially since it was 31 years after the fatal EF-5 tornado in 1991
Whoa! Scary!

Trees out front of the building just got sucked up like no big deal.
Wow. This really shows that America really is the greatest country in the world. The fact that even it's flag was able to withstand a tornado.
Lol a flag has no divine power over mother nature. If the tornado had been closer it would've been ripped to shreds
That American flag holding on by a single peice of rope is absolutly legendary. Reminds me of the national anthem

Wow! Those flags were stronger than I thought!
Cause they made in the USA. One of the few things that didn't came from China.
Well its not like it was in the tornado path. If it was the whole pole would be thrown a mile away and probably impaled into something.
I bet those flags were RIPPED after the tornado went by.
Love how Old Glory hung on. Hope for one and all.
Detention of and the fall was still there
More violent than I remember. That one random estimation of 200mph winds seems reasonable now.
April 29 is my birthday i never see a tornado cuz i live in Washington state but it looks scary
The cars don't even move...strange
I wonder why we dont use these type of lights on roads, they are stronger from the looks of it
