The humility and grace required to let an obviously inferior player win not once, but twice, is truly admirable. He proves once again why he is one of the most humble Grandmasters alive.
Love the fact that your response (up until now at least) just has a couple of likes.
Not that I dislike it, quite the opposite (I love it) you nailed it. It's just the fact that it also seems to prove that the s.k. smart bunch who loves to see videos like this one (self-proclaimed smart chess player), aint particularly bright when it comes down to it.
Your comment should have had ten times as many likes if they understood it. (Instead, most people seem to take your comment literally.)

The “hustler” is typically the one who pretends not to be as good as they are and so that would make you the hustler.
This. The title is exactly wrong.
what is a hustler? the translation given is misleading
Well said, "The pot calling the kettle black."
@@nettek8470 a hustler in general terms is someone who may use some kind of trickery to make some gain. in this case, chess hustlers usually pretend to be bad players, and then wager money on their chess games, and their opponent thinks it's free money because they're under the impression that the hustler is bad, and then the hustler wins and makes money
This is so stupid. The titles aren’t for us. The titles are for the normies. I‘m here for the chess, but I by started with videos like this. Chess hustler is pretty much a term for the RUclips search. The same way you search for Minecraft survival if you want to see that, you search for chess hustler if you want some over the board chess in public places.
The chess community is probably one with the lowest amount of native English chess speakers. I personally never had a concept of a hustler, especially not a negative one. All the hustlers Anna or also Andrea and Alex play are sweet people who have fun playing chess. I think most non native speakers associate the term chess hustler that way and not like a person who tricks people scamming their money or shit.
I don’t get why you are upset for this sweet old man, fighting his fights for him in the internet. It ain’t that deep guys, it’s a RUclips title

The vid last words he said were 'thank you for the clock'. I love when she says, "I have to be careful here," being polite, when the eval bar is completely blacked out and the position is almost unlosable.
@ 05:27? I don't think she was just being polite. She meant that she should be careful not to take the pawn. If she takes the pawn, the knight can fork the king and bishop, leading to black capturing her bishop... but I agree, almost unlosable position either way.
Hustler games are always fun to watch : )
"you have to say check" but he didn't say check when he checked you this guy is hilarious hahahaha
Actually you do not have to say check in rules of chess competition
What are you talking about. In chess you do not have to say check. Also in Blitz games if you move another piece other then your king whilst in check you lose. The rule is called an illegal move. Never in chess do you have to anounce check.

You don't have to say "check!" to regular players but when you play a Grandmaster you need to do it as a show of respect.
Why?
I write it down on a card, sign it, date it, time stamp it, get it notarized, give it to a postal carrier who will hand it to them and have them sign for it. Usually eats up about 20 seconds on my clock but I'm willing to burn that time for respect.
You also have to say it to oblivious waitresses.

Chess hustlers swear moving quickly makes them elite
She’s very charming, respectful and disarming.
The real grandmaster never say I’m a grandmaster in front of the opponent.
Not unlike these guys that run around saying they used to be a Navy SEAL. A SEAL would never do that.
*Unless you ask. Because sometimes you want to know if you're up against a strong, average, or beginner. When playing an average player or a beginner, I'll let my guard down and help them out. If it's a strong player, then I'll increase my focus level and carefully and strategically plan my moves more defensively or in an attacking mode depending on the color being played.*

@@aliasofanalias7448 yeah but she gave her knight away when she could've taken his and forked his queen and rook at the same time. What was that about (probably something I'm too dumb to see)?

Out of curiosity, are you keeping the games 'close' deliberately, or are you always taking what you feel is the 'best' move? I'm no where near good enough at chess to tell, but have seen masters playing to *barely* win before, seems harder than just going for the kill...so wondered :) You bring such joy to the game, as well! :D
Chess has always been about "barely winning" with an incremental advantage over several moves. It's impossible to be several pieces ahead midgame unless either player makes a serious blunder.
@@TheMCGamer2012 Thank you! And I wasn't horribly clear in my comment, I was talking about masters at *different* competitions that I'd seen (darts, to be specific)
I'm not great at chess, but I know a bit about it - I was tutored by an International Master, and I was first board on the chess team at my high school.
In the first game here she dismantles him positionally, then pounces and takes his rook when he blunders. It doesn't look look to me like she's giving him any breaks.
@@myblacklab7 So to paraphrase to make sure I'm understanding...She set herself up to be ready for any mistake on his part, then just waited for him to make one?
@@scottbrown411 Close - she played strong, and when he made a mistake, she punished it.
The move where he ended up exchanging his rook for a knight was very weak, but even before that she picked up a pawn, which would have likely been decisive anyway.
I suspect this guy would beat 9,999 out of every 10,000 Americans who know the rules of chess, and possibly more like 99,999 out of every 100,000. It wasn't a complete walkover, and she'd have been in serious danger of losing, if she played weak on purpose.
Incidentally, weaker players often play very aggressively. My old chess tutor used to say to my mom, "What are you feeding these boys?" implying that we were too aggressive, which was true.
Being a hustler is one thing. Pretending something you aren't is another. Especially if you claim a title you 've never earned.

I don’t understand why these players are called Hustlers They seem to play fair and don’t use apps or chess engines secretly Hustler has a very negatieve connotation imo Any one has a clue?
I think nowadays ‘hustle’ is associated with earning some income.. So, a person who play a game or 2 to earn some cash on the street could be what ‘hustler’ means. Turning a hobby into something that can generate income, nothing wrong with that. I don’t think the word comes off as negative.

*I remember playing one very bad so-called GM. He lost but he still went around telling everyone he beat me? So I started playing him without my queen in front of a crowd and he could never beat me.* *Not only did he stop telling people that he beat me but he stopped playing me altogether.* *When you're a good player you have lots of people challenging you (a target on your back). Good and Bad players.* *I had another guy also going around telling people that he beats me all the time. My friend came up and ask me if it was true that he beat me? I told him of course not but if you want to know who won the last game just see who's playing white (with this particular guy whoever won gets to play white). So every time my friend checked in I was always playing white against this guy.*
