There is no diagnosis being done here, just assuming it's the coils/plugs and replacing them. That's really not very useful. In particular, a bad coil or plug will not throw a Code P0300 (which is for RANDOM misfire) unless there are two or more bad at the same time. It will show a code P03001 - P03005 which specifies the cylinder that is failing.

180k miles and I’m still on the same set of Bosch coils. Am I the only one that is questioning “change all coils every time you change spark plugs” that is a bit overkill. +200 every time you change plugs

Iridium plugs are designed to last 80K miles or more, while the coils, which are solid state and rarely fail unless they develop cracks, in which case they can fail or start working erratically. Visual inspection of the coils will usually reveal cracks, and indicate a need for replacement. If you get a persistent P0302 code on a Volvo 2.4 or 2.5 5-cylinder engine, and swapping out plugs or the coil doesn't fix the problem, then check the electrical supply to the fuel injectors with a PFI test light. If all your grounds are good on both the fuel injector harness and your coils and coil harness, the problem may be due to the failure of a little vacuum check valve on the crankcase ventilation hose system that mounts to underside of the intake manifold (on the left side of the manifold looking at the front of the engine) with a 17mm banjo bolt. When that check valve fails, it can result in a little steel ball and spring that forms the check valve getting sucked into the hose, down through the oil trap, and up into the top of the valve cover between cylinders 2 and 3, and into the valve head of number 2 cylinder, interfering with the intake or exhaust valves, creating a tell-tale loud tapping sound emanating from the vicinity of number 2 as the little ball pounds the piss our of your valves in that cylinder, possibly damaging the valves, breaking a valve spring, degrading the lifters, etc. It may be possible to pull the fuel injector and the coil/spark plug to number 2 and fish a magnet down the ports to try to catch the little ball and spring from the check valve and extract it. It may also be necessary to remove the fuel rail and the intake manifold to be able to get into the head via the intake port of number 2 with the magnet and try to extract the ball that way. If you can't extract the ball, which could be jammed in the valve port or have gotten behind the valve up into the guides/spring, then you may have to pull the valve cover (to inspect the cam shaft and the lifters and to replace any damaged valve springs, which can be replaced with a special Volvo valve spring tool without having to pull the head) and then pull the head and send the head out to a shop for a valve rebuild. And with the intake manifold off, it is then easy to inspect and replace all of the pollution control hoses and electrical connectors, the oil trap, the throttle body (for cleaning or replacement), starter solenoid and starter motor, degraded loom on the electrical conductors, etc. As the hoses and other components of the pollution control/crankcase ventilation system tends to fail around 170K miles, that is a good time to pull all that stuff apart and to replace the pollution control hoses, clean the throttle body, replace the intake manifold gasket, fuel injectors and coils, etc. Doing so will keep your Volvo running well for another 150K miles.

+myviews We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
