    Great video, Patrick. The Lewitt sounded the best to me. I currently own a Samson C01 Studio condenser mic and it’s doing a great job at recording vocals and instruments.

    Next time I'm in Aldi I'll see if they stock pots of pickled penguins. They'll probably be on the middle aisle next to the pickled paragliders🤣. Great video, Patrick.

      That middle aisle is absolutely deadly. I’m not allowed to even have a browse of it in our local Aldi. Thanks for watching Si!

    The Rode NT-1 i, on my monitors, is the one that's the most natural and clear, specially on the guitar picking. A bit more sparkle.

    Thanks Patrrrrrrrick!👍 I'm needing a good new mic with an economical price...this was helpful! Needing a USB condensor mic...

    Good demo of these mics. I'm an Audio Technica guy, you can't go wrong with an AT2020 but overall, I was most impressed by the Lewitt, it has such a smooth, natural characteristic to its tone. I was not keen on the sound of the Aston - very muffled and boxy. Of course the Rode is excellent, but it would be the Lewitt for me if I needed a new mic. Ah, to savour the preternatural perplexity of a platoon of paragliding penguins .......

    I remember getting the USB version of the C1 as a backup mic. I found it passable, but the lack of an easy way to increase the gain held it back quite a bit for me, as well as the fact the boom-stand connection wasn't very stable with the setup I was using.

    for anyone this may help you can also make a pop filter out of old pantyhose/ thin stockings and a wire hanger or simolar. A friend from around Birmingham showed me how.

    Aston & Lewitt sounded great with acoustic guitar....best vocals, I think, was the Rode.
    I'm going for either an at2020 USB mic or a rodes👍Also, have always like Shure Mics...have to ck those out as well👍

    I’m listening on an iPad, speakers not ‘phones. The best sound for vocals and for guitar is the Rode NT-1. Not wanting to be negative, I have to say that the Aston Element is strange, not bright enough, a more subdued sound.

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  2 месяца назад +1

      The element definitely has a sound of its own. I find it’s quite situational and (as you say) can be quite dull at times.

    I have the C1 mic. Bought from Amazon for about $2 out of pocket. The rest on gift cards :-).

    Vocals: Rode sounds best followed by Behringer
    Guitar: Behringer sounded most natural.
    The Aston Elements sounded muffled for the guitar.
    Listened on Beats Studio headhones

    you ever think ov doin' audio books? your tonality, cadence and joviality would be perfect for it. I'd listen to you reed a phone book (assuming they still make them).

    Just out of interest, whichever DAW you used to record the audio samples, did you apply any preset vocal or acoustic guitar settings? If so, which?

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  2 месяца назад

      No, they are just the raw recordings from GarageBand - though I did adjust their volumes in the video editor. I’ll pop a note saying so in the video description.

      @@TheGaragebandGuide Thanks. The sound quality sounds fine on all of them by the way. I just wondered if they were raw, as you've stated, or were recorded via settings such as 'Classic Vocal,' etc. No criticism implied!

    NT1 for the win on your voice. I see why this mic are in so many studios even though it's on the pro-sumer side price wise
