Taquile is an island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca 45 km offshore from the city of Puno. n 2005, "Taquile and Its Textile Art" were honored by being proclaimed "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
Taquileños run their society based on community collectivism and on the Inca moral code ama sua, ama llulla, ama qhilla, (Quechua for "do not steal, do not lie, do not be lazy"). The mother earth (Patchamama), the principal Andean deity which directly controls harvesting, fertility, offering a number of payments (offering) each year and three coca leaves prior to each activity or trip.

Just found this today, after being sent by something in a talk given by Patricia Cota Robles, called "The Divine Plan". Good resonance. She says The Feminine Polarity of God "enters as a shaft of light in the location of Lake Titiqaqa, in Bolivia" ( The male, in the area of the Himalayas in Tibet). That really struck Home in me, so to speak. :-) Then this video came up, after I went to Wiki, to look at Lake Titiqaqa. I enjoyed esp. the silence in this. Not so much the children 'performing', as if for money. It is a delicate balance; how to record something pure, without turning it into a 'show'. I appreciate the intent.
