That’s one of the hallmarks of great climber. Pretty good climbers can do hard routes , but everything has to be perfect. Great climbers can adapt in split seconds to feet slipping… or holds breaking … and still send
Feet slipping is something that everyone experiences, and everyone is able to hold on if the holds are good enough and the position is secure enough. It's really just a matter of whether or not that particular move is at your limit or not. Clearly, based on the commentary, this section of the route was several grades lower than the crux.
A perfect example of the need to use all your limbs while you climb and not rely on just a hold or foot placement. The foot slip was barely an interruption in this case.
I had a friend that would belay real tight and I would always ask for more slack especially when clipping In, you’ll find it really does hinder your productivity when trying to clip and positioning your hips if the rope is tugging on your harness even a little bit… just tell homey you need more slack! You’re not gonna fall a hair farther if you have a foot of slack to play with!
Tell me this do you fall in your dreams? I can’t imagine how frighteningly difficult that must be to then go & climb where you fell albeit in a dream world 🤯
What would happen if he fell given how the terrain looks? Would it be near certain death, or would the line he’s attached to save him? Can’t see that line doing a whole lot to prevent you from massive, even deadly injuries, it looks like it’s a bare minimum safeguard so you don’t completely fall off the mountain and not much more. Could someone who actually knows this stuff explain?
Climbing ropes are designed to take hundreds of falls! It looks skinny, but it’s actually incredibly strong and meticulously tested. Just on this route alone, he had likely fallen dozens (if not hundreds) of times. Most of the time you just fall a few feet before you’re caught. It’s all pretty safe if you know what you’re doing :-)
It's way more safe than you think, falling in climbing isn't some scary remote possibility, it's routine. If you're trying routes at your limit you might fall a hundred times before you manage to do it in one go.
The King of good saves.
What is bro babbling about?
Climbing the route. 🤷♂️

Haha, you also need a bit of luck. It's like dropping a glass and catching it so badly that it bounces off and you still manage to catch it again.

i think recovering the send is just luck, but not letting it affect you is the hard part
Respectfuly, Please shut up.@@MattMcConaha
being able to send during holds breaking and feet slipping is definitely not the differentiating factor between good and great
So inspiring! “Easily” and “Basically” he is a master of understated adverbs.
Loved watching the full ascent!
這個總算是真的影片,前面幾個沒繫安全繩的影片好假。
This is insanely hard and is impossible for anyone who doesn’t climb to comprehend 😅
I know how you feel. My foot slipped off the couch earlier today.

So happy to be able to view these in my lifetime;! Well done!
In most accidents Footstep error is the reason of falling down.

You're a machine man! 👍👍👍
Unfortunately, I can't do that. I don't have the rope and nobody has shown me how to do it. I'm afraid I'll never be recognised as a climber :-(
Oof I was holding my breath
Why is it that when Alex Honnold climbs, he looks like he barely moves???
Well done, though!
Oh my gosh my stomach just turned 😮

He just clipped the last bolt so he'd fall like a couple of feet, it's on an overhang so he wouldn't hit anything. About as safe as it gets.
Wear helmet
