These are absolutely beautiful. And thank you for taking the time to show all of your steps. I've been fusing for a number of years... but I'm just starting to use smaller molds and texture molds... so it is very helpful to see all of the steps and to understand why you are layering the way you are. And... I am glad to know that sharp edges are OK! Thanks!!
If you are open to suggestions...If you would put your final layers of clear differently, you wouldn’t have the spikes. I put a layer of clear pieces then put a build up of clear in the middle the length of the mold. It will melt and slide towards the edges giving you a nice edge without the spikes you get from the glass sliding on the edges when the clear is flat.
Do you remember what gauge copper wire you used to make your tree of life? This looks like a fun challenging project to try. Thanks again for your videos.
Hi Judi. You could use 20, 30 or 40 gauge depending on how fine or thick you want your tree to look. I used 20 gauge if I remember correctly. Hope that helps :)
hi i love your videos, i was wondering how you can put copper, metal etc in the jewellery as its going in the microwave, does the kiln make it ok, many thanks for an answer chaela x
Hi. Thanks for your kind comments. You can put metal inside a microwave kiln and then put in the microwave. The microwave kiln absorbs the microwaves which creates the heat. It does not allow the microwaves to touch the metal in the microwave kiln. However be careful using moulds in a mwk because they can break :)
Hi Arlene. Thanks for your comment. Molds have a habit of breaking in the mwk, you could try without a mold, maybe use a cookie cutter to contain the glass. See my cookie cutter fusing videos. Everything else will be fine in the mwk including the wire. Hope that helps :)
Hi. The hole is 5cm x 3cm and this is a link to the same as mine. I cut mine in half because originally I only had a small kiln. www.slumpys.com/Sales/4-piece-Oval-Cube-Tray-Fusing-Mold Hope it helps :)
Hi Heather I cant remember where I got these actual molds. They were a set of 4 but I had to cut them into two to fit in my old kiln before i got my larger kiln. You should be able to buy them from warm glass in the UK or AAE glass in the usa. Or sometimes cheaper on ebay. :)
Hi Heather. Yes it is possible you might be better to use a stainless steel oval ring rather than a mould. I have only used one mould in the mwk but it broke. I know there are lots of people that have success with moulds though in a kiln. Some of my videos use a mwk standalone and also in conjunction with a normal kiln. I have a video in progess which uses solely a mwk for a different method. Hope this helps:)
Hi I was trying to find molds but don’t know where to buy them I like the one you have but I would like a few different shapes as well and maybe one that makes smaller beads as well could you or anyone recommend a few sites to look at,,, thanking you ,,, Ann
How beautiful they all are! I am just starting to learn how to fuse glass, and this was a great tutorial. Thanks so much.
Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated :)
These are beautiful.
Thank you
This is SO cool!! I've never seen anything like it before. TYFS

Great idea Gale! Thank you for the suggestion. This is the way we can help each other to make fusing much easier. :)
Yes, build up the clear like a pyramid. Happy fusing friend. 😊
can you tell me where you get the moulds from please thank you great video.
Hi. Aaeglass.com but they are sold out. So I found them here www.creativeparadiseglass.com/product-p/lf22.htm. hope that helps 😊

Very pretty! I love glass casting, it is fun and rewarding! 👍😉
Thank you so much. :)
Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing. I saw the link to this video in the Microwave Kiln Facebook page.
Thank you Judi much appreciated :)

Happy New year 🎆🎆
Thank you! You too!
They turned out great! Thank you for sharing. Do you fire polish in the mold?
Hi Sherri. Thank you for your kind comment. I dont fire polish in the mold :)
I love the trees!! Can you make them in the microwave kiln?

@@ArtsandCraftsTI does the cookie cutter need to be stainless steel?
bellisimos
Thank you :)
can clear frit be used instead of the clear plate pieces?
Hi Jennifer. Yes you can, you might get more bubbles though unless you do a bubble squeeze. Hope this helps. :)
Can you tell the size on the pendants in the mold to help me find the same size pendant?

can you add your firing schedule?
I added it in the description. It just a standard full fuse schedule. Hope that helps :)

Hi Ann. You can try Warm Glass if in the UK or AAE Glass if in the USA. They both have a good selection. :)
