    These are gorgeous! How did you lay the dichroic, up or down? I love your videos! Just got a microwave kiln and want to try some of your ideas. How long do you think these need to be in the microwave kiln? My microwave is 1200 w.
    Thank you very much! And Happy New Year!

      Hi Arlene. Thank you for your comment. Mainly I lay the dichroic up. If its a clear piece you can lie it down but dont let two dichroic sides touch. In my mwk it takes 9 mins for a tack fuse. I suggest you start a little lower and experiment because each microwave and each kiln are different. You should be able to do it straight from 100% power because they are small pieces. Hope that helps :)

      @@ArtsandCraftsTI Well, I tried your technique and put in at 100% for 6 minutes, and it was completely fused and gorgeous!! I wanted the look you have but over did it. At what point do you stop for a tack fuse? Is it at the very first second you see red? It’s not like yours, but I’m thrilled with it. Wish I could show you. Thanks so much for all of your help!

      @@arlenebain5678 The only way to do it so you can progress is to keep a record of times. The problem with opening the kiln to look at it is that there will be temperature drop and then timing gets really difficult to judge. So I would try for 4 minutes next time and then adjust accordingly. I am guessing you have the smaller type mwk which is a little more harsh than the one I use and fuses faster. The fact that you didnt ruin your piece is a really good start because, if it is fully fused, then you know now not to exceed 6 mins in your kiln. Exciting stuff, its like opening a present, you dont know what to expect :)

      Hi. I show in videos 3 and 11 what type of bails I recommend and where to get them from. I also show the method I use to glue and other useful tips. Too much to add to this video so I made separate videos of these. Hope this helps :)

    What is your firing schedule?

    • @ArtsandCraftsTI
      @ArtsandCraftsTI  3 года назад

      As a guide I use this one but every kiln is different so I adjust it slightly. But you wont go far wrong if you use this schedule. I used the tack fuse schedule. www.warm-glass.co.uk/images/pdfs/products/Basic%20Firing%20Schedules%20for%20most%20kilns.pdf :)
