Made one today. Started with a 7.5" by 8.75" ripstop lining and camo denim outer fabric. Had a 7" zipper from hobby lobby. Learned a lot. Thanks a bunch for the video! Wish I could post the picture.
I enjoyed your tutorial. I have made many of this bag style but never in nylon. The other things I don't do is use a double pull zipper. My suggestion is to install a handle at one end or the other. Just cut a 1 1/2 strip by 5 inches. Fold in half with right sides together and stitch to make a tube. Then trim and turn right side out. You should have about a 1/2 strap. I often cut out my corners before sewing them, so I slip this stap between two corners, and when I stitch there is a handy strap to carry it with or for unzipping. With a two head zipper you might want to put one on each end.

Great video. I've watched it several times, and today finally had the opportunity to complete a small project. Some closeups of the presser foot on the fabric would have saved me sewing the zipper with the teeth facing out out instead of in toward the center of the fabric on the first stitching of zipper to fabric. Good thing they were short lines for ripping out! I used a 12" separating zipper but will look for the #3 coil zipper and sliders when I am in the big city. I'll be making more of these!

I'm going to see if I can figure out how to incorporate that zipper into my bag, but I really learned a lot about constructing this type of bag through your tutorial and I appreciate it
Oh wow. That was truly THE BEST tutorial for zipper pouches. I loved the result of the heat cutter so accurate and the seams were PERFECT with no frayed edges. It's the first time I saw one. The double zip was a great tip. just in case the pouch was sewn without pulling back the zip at least the two sliders left a tiny space to pull the zips apart. Installing the two parts of the zip separately was a genius idea. FANTASTIC loved the video tutorial from the beginning to end and loved YOUR SOFT VOICE too. 😀💕👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing and caring.

Hi Randy! Good easy project that would make a good gift for friends or family. Rather than spend a bunch of money for things that might not be appreciated, this year I think I'll make some bags and gear that anyone can use as I learn how to put a vintage Kenmore to use.

Thank you for this project I just bought a machine and made a stretchy pouch for my micrscope glasses. I like the 4 cornner pouch better so I'm going to make this for it. I also like the hot knife Im going to get one I have a piece of marble I could cut on. Keep em coming. Nice work on the video.

I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion. if you put another camera (GoPro?) on the back side of the sewing machine giving a close up of what is being sewn that would be great. Excellent video Randy. I know there is some sort of math to determine what size blank you need to get the size box bag you are wanting. Would you be able to share that? I love the bag. Probably wouldn't want to use it for hiking or camping but it would sure make a great possibles bag for toiletry items etc. Hope to make one for my son and a few buddies, and of course, myself.

To determine the starting dimensions of your fabric: length + height + about 1inch = starting length (2 x height) + (2 x width) + 1 inch = starting width These are rough measurements so you may have to adjust slightly to suit your needs.
What model Juki are you using here? The one in your Juki DDL video has a standard reverse lever over on the right, at the base of the pillar, but here you are conveniently back-tacking with reverse with your thumb right there under the head of the machine. It's always cool to see what machines the pros are using.

I use a soldering gun instead of heat knife. Not as handy as a heat knife, but gets the job done.

That dimension will increase as the bag gets larger. The easiest way is just to fold the corners and see what you need. Good luck with your projects.

This one is a Juki 8700-7 and our other machines are the Juki 8700 without any computer controls.
