I've never left a comment ever in my life but your amazing video guide has made me. I've been trying to update firmware and download openmemories tweak for the past few days, the recording limit was something that was stopping me from working with my a7ii as I picked up my camera after years and had no clue how to operate it anymore. I have a Mac and I watched millions of videos and did so many hours of research but it got me frustrated only. Your parallels idea worked as my Mac created problem after another for me. Turning my Mac into windows got my firmware updated and openmemories tweak just in no time. Anyone can't figure out please turning Mac into windows makes your work fast and easy. got done in an hour while I spent 2 days on it with iOS. sorry for a long write but if it helps anyone. thanks bro.
Know your USB cables and ports are working fine, just your Mac isn't supporting it, much more complicated than windows Ik don't waste your time and listen to this guy asap haha.
I spent 7 hours trying to update both my A7s3 and sigma lens on an intel Mac. Countless tutorials and Sony’s half ass of an excuse of steps that did not work for me. I stumble upon your video and viola, done in less than 30m. Wish I would have seen your video first! Would have saved me time. Sony updates SUCK!You helped make it suck less and for that I’m grateful. Great video, time saving advise.
Thank you so much! I had been searching bigger channels like Mike Smith to name a few and there was no clear solution. One of his subscribers found the answer and shared it with him. However, your explanation is so much easier to follow and understand. You saved the day! Blessings to you!!
I couldn’t even get a pc to recognize my new A7RIII. The pc sees it but the updater itself can’t find it. Tried on an older Mojave Mac too. Same thing. I hope it’s not a defective camera.
My Imac is 2 years old. I thought I would put this video out because i got frustrated trying to update it my camera and i found a hack. Sorry this didn't work for you and thank you for letting the channel know that it doesn't work on the New M1 Mac. Have a great day.
For mac owners on Big Sur (ver 11) there is a "system software update helper" that must be downloaded to work with the firmware updater. The helper file & instructions are on the sony.com support website. I just did this today on my macbook pro and the update for my sony alpha series camera went fine.
After hours of search, I found your video, tried it and boom it WORKED!!! Thanks a Milly
Thank you, appreciate the comment

no luck here in 2022 using Mac Pro with only usb C to Usb hub. Will not connect properly.
Thanks for the info. The vexing thing is that no workaround should be necessary.
