Bro the base ISO now on video is change from 640 to 1600..second base ISO (12800) is now gone when using atomos ninja v prores raw

No LUT support is the biggest joke ever. Like I spent $4500 on a a7siii just for an a6700 to be able to do something like that. But hey, have some PAID Custom Gridlines for $150. Biggest joke ever.

It really is man. One of the huge deciding factors in buying my FX3 was LUT loading/monitoring. And now a year later after real world use, I couldn’t live without it. Obviously external monitoring is different but having it in camera is essential.

The coolest secret update I found is you can now set the shutter to 1/48 if you are recording in 24 FPS.

Thanks for putting this out so quick. I just updated and was pleasantly surprised at the FX3 style menus and display. This in my opinion is as big of a deal as breathing comp. It makes the overall UX of the camera so much better. I also noticed that I can now shoot in 1/48 shutter! Overall quite pleased with the update. Would have liked to have shutter angle and cine EI but I can live with this.

Hey Matt, thanks for the great video i also used your presets! There is also a hidden feature that you can now use the anti dust function an close the shutter when the camera is off! I just have a simple question, is it not possible to change the icons that appear on the display left and right? I can´t find it in the settings... Thanks in advance!

To me the best update features I see is the new main menu and the new movie shooting layout. Which somehow Sony did not mention neither do you.

heyy matt! one quastion ! is there a way to display in recording screen (in discriptions) if i record with proxy or not? i can only check it at first new menus but in the old update was under the 4k-50 etc , thank you!

Hi Matt, longtime subscriber, well I have tested a few things since the update and for me, the true 24p only works in DCI mode but reverts to 23.9 in XVASC I, not sure if its a region thing since I live in Jamaica but can you confirm if you have true 24 in other modes ie. 4kHS or SI etc

I like the shutter closing feature, and something that nobody else mentioned - the peeking always on option. What I’m always fighting for is good clean audio and good clean focus. I’m not worried about the lack of LUT support

Keep up the good work. Any idea how to lose the new menu screen on the back monitor? The display button on the back scroll wheel used to toggle between full screen and display modes but not any more.
Swipe to the right or left on the side and it will hide the touch menu
Darn! As a Panasonic S1 / S5 shooter, I sure wish that Panasonic would allow for tiemcode in via the USB-C port on those cameras. Good on Sony for making this an option.
Hi Matt, I hope you're doing well. I need your help. My A7SIII suddenly stopped working while I was using it, and the red light is blinking. Even when I turn the camera off, it persists. Can you please help me identify what might be causing this issue? Thanks.
Great video as always. And fantastic news. Does anyone know whether there is also a 24.0 fps update for the other Sonys? I often shoot with an A7IV as a second camera and in very rare instances I‘m using a friends A1 for the 8K. It’d be great if all of these support true 24 so we can ditch 23.976 altogether.

Thanks for the update video, great stuff from you as always. Disappointed the update still doesn’t have lut support, focus mapping, or updated auto focus options but hey - that’s why I grabbed a zve1 I guess /shrug (minus the focus mapping)
Inb4, I have the siii AND the zve1. Upset Sony continues to have upgrade features in less “professional” lines

Did they add where the shutter door closes when the camera isnt on like in the a74? What about changing the shutter in increments to avoid flicker also a74 has this?

I have an important question. Before the new update, when I changed the automatic focus from the lens to the manual focus ( mode in the video mode ), "PEAK" appeared with the red color that I had previously determined, and again when I changed the focus from the lens to the automatic mode, "PEAK" was turned off in red. But after the update, when I turn on "PEAK" and put the lens in automatic mode, "PEAK" remains and Don't be off . where is the problem from ?
Matt, if we save our custom buttons etc to the memory card and THEN update, will be not be able to re-import the custom-save-file from the previous firmware version? Appreciate you want your subscribers to download your lead magnet but I have my camera set up already and want to retain the same mappings/settings... Is there something about the new firmware that blocks a user from re-importing their old custom mappings that were saved while running previous firmware versions?
Hey! The big bummer about this update is that presets made with previous firmware versions will not work with the latest 3.0 firmware, so I promise this isn’t a shameless attempt for people to download my lead magnet haha. 😜
When you update your firmware, you’ll have to re-create all of your settings from scratch, or download my updated preset file that I re-created after updating the firmware. :)
@@whoismatt Oh maaaaan! That's painful! To the download page I go... Lastly - on the timecode side; I don' suppose you know if the Deity C23 cable will work (instead of the Sony BNC cable?) I'm invested in the Deity TC-1 kit, and the C23 is their TC table for Sony FX3/FX30 - So I'm assuming it would work fine with this new FW...?
If it works on the FX3 and FX30 it should work on the a7siii but I don't have one to test to be 100% sure.

You forgot the 2 features not really mentioned but are the most valuable.. at least for me.. I suggested them to sony staff some years ago... took a while:
1/24th shutter to have that little bit of extra light
closed shutter when camera is closed to prevent dust when lens changing
and i noticed much faster startup and readiness to record

Sir can you pls reply if we have shutter speed 1/16(60ms) and read out speed (rolling shutter ) is 1/48(20ms) then frame is becoming from information 0 to 60ms or 0 to 20ms pls reply

How do you actually add in custom gridlines ? Create png files? Download png files ? Purchase dng files? Is the size of the gridlines dependent in the size oif the sensor (apsc/full frame) i dont see a tutorial for installing custome gridlines. Can you or any help because i actually think for some there is a use case for custom grid lines for bwtter framing and workflow for certain social media aspect ratios- 4:5, 9:16 etc. thanks for the amazing informative videos !!!
Matt, Is it a true 4K DCI or just another crop into the sensor with pixel bining ? to me this 4k DCI brings not more horizontal résolution. is there a bug with pal country ?
On my Fs7 in 4K DCI i can see more horizontal résolution than 4K UHD not on my A7s3. Thank you Matt.
in fact i think it is fake 4 DCI like other Fx3 owner mentionned, i really don't understand the game sony is playing, it is very very confusing and i don't like that at all. I loosed so much time to understand this subterfuge...

The "Monitor and Control" app that pairs with the camera has a False Color overlay feature that will be of interest to people doing Chroma-key/green screen work. I was wondering how the A7SII was going to dust cover the sensor and I see it doesn't seem to be included.
hello Matt I love your content. You are good at describing complex things in a way so that everyone can understand. Matt I may need your help with one minor things regarding this update. I have the new firmware on my Sony A7s3 and have some issues with Auto focus with Face and Eye detection when set for Human subject. The issue is this: focus works fine when my head is horizontal but if I stay with my head upside down the camera fails to focus on my eyes. This did not happen with previous firmware version (2.10 I know not quite previous but that was last before updating to 2.15 and 3.0. Please let me know if you experience this kind of issue also. Maybe somehow is a problem. Happens with both lenses that I have GM2 24-70 & GM2 16-35mm. Kind regards and thank you so much in advance.

Off topic but what software tool is best used to document annual expenses for taxes - perhaps another video - but the IRS and Dept of Labor pushing “gig” work towards W2s and (if it survived court challenges) what impact would be expects for “gig” workers???

I want to upgrade my camera from Sony a7iii to other in coming August, Is it still ok to buy a7siii now? or should i wait for a7siv ? any recommendations will be helpful. (I dont like a7iv's 4k crop in 120fps)
there is no crop on a7iv in 4k 120p because there is not 120 p in 4k only 50/60P😉
The best camera is always the one you actually own and can buy. I have no clue when an a7S iv is coming or if one will ever arrive

I'm trying to update on my A7iv and it keeps failing, it just power cycles out and I have to remove the battery to be able to turn it back on. So strange!
I updated my a7S III and installed your presets. Now the camera does not turn on anymore. I changed battery already but still does not work. Any suggestions?

Hey Matt, I just downloaded your presets. Thanks for sharing. I just wanted to let you know that with the update, you can now choose 1/48 shutter speed for your 24p video setting. I went in and made the change manually. Just an FYI!
Do you know if 1/240 is available now if shooting 120fps? Or 1/120 when shooting 60fps for that matter, instead of the 1/250 and 1/125

@@KARTA_MGC I didn't mention anything about a hardware feature if you're referring to my question. Firmware is strictly software. Not hardware.
it will change on the Atomos ninja external raw external recording. Some people are complaining about that (The base ISO is now 80/1600 instead of 640/12800)
@@Intuifilm wow. That I don't like. I use Atomos Ninja V recorders for all my multi cam video shoots. I think I'm going to hold off from updating the firmware.
@@Intuifilm The worst part is that they don't allow you to set to iso80 when raw is enabled, unless you're using auto iso.
Matt, how can I enable back button focus when filming?
Did they finally add a way to set your custom white balance/color temp using a neutral grey surface in presets 1-3 as opposed to having to switch to movie mode? 🤔

Do you know if it causes any compatibility issue with 3rd party batteries? This is what happened with my FX30, it doesn't display the battery percentage anymore and it is showing warnings when I try to use them.
I unfortunately do not have any third-party batteries to test with this
Yes. After the update I have this the same issue with my third party batteries as you described. Pop up warning is annoying. 😢
You shouldn’t be using 3rd party batteries anyway
@@1985Photosin my experience, a lot of them are as reliable as sony's. What sony has been doing with the latest firmware updates is a shitty move.
You can also set the shutter to close when changing lenses now.

i have faced a weird issue, as usual i was using two card on shoot and when i copy the data i saw that first cards have free space(more than 10 gb) and then i noticed that camera has created same title of different videos in second card and some clips from starting of the shoot and some are from mid duration of the shoot. around 25 titles are same and i didn't swipe any card while shooting and how can camera swtich to another card when first card has free space.
Hey Matt, Thanks. I download and update with your preset. However, when I try to connect to phone, I turn off airplane mode and it tell me that my bluetooth/wi-fi is malfunction. I was able to connect to my phone when it initially updated to 3.0. Not sure if it was a bug or preset break it. Anyone has the same issue? I need to reset the setting to be able to get the connect to phone function back.

Matt, this is a great, informative, and useful video; thank you. I saved my settings, but when I tried to load them back, after making sure the cameras were in the correct NTSC settings, it saw it but would not load it, so now both my A1 and a7Siii are back to basics. What a pain that said thank you for yours; I will have to learn your way of doing things. :-)

@whoismatt I seem to have found an issue with the update or maybe there is a solution to my problem that I cant yet see but basically the focus peaking on setting instead of only working in manual focus it also works in AF mode and its always on or always off. If this was done intentionally I can't see why or maybe I'm the only one with this issue ??
This is how other Sony cameras are. Sony A7iv is like that out of the box. It’s so annoying as the peaking being on or off is a great indicator as to which mode your in

A7 IV recorded the lens information but ZV-E1 did not, hmmm... Could not find DCI on these two cameras, probably not included for them.
Hello! Don't do the update if you still use a ninja v or ninja v+ external raw. There are big problems with it... there are a few posts on reddit about that BIG problem... and one of the atomos answer is :" it’s Sony’s responsibility to fix this issue". Thank you Matt for your video !

after upgrade to 3.00 and 3.01 i (and may other) have problems contol shutter (and aperture and iso) via dial on my dji rs3 pro
Matt, first I love your channel and I am subscribed. I have to say this breathing compensation feature is a bust for underwater filmmakers like me. This key feature is missing from most of their lenses. Unless you have a gmaster lens it appears this feature is greyed out. I went to the trouble of installing the 2.15 and 3.0 and I can't even use this feature. This is important for underwater macro applications such as with my 50 and 90 mm macro lenses. What has Sony said about this? Any updates coming?
wasnt dci 4k implemented in fx3 with the same width as normal 4k..? im under the impression that it was a fake dci on fx3, where they just cropped the top and bottom.. am i wrong? is this implementation actually proper dci 4k width?
Same feeling here, i'm in Pal country and noticed this false dci 4K too ! same horizontal field but croped vertical field. When i do the same on Fs7 i have same vertical but more horizontal field. So is it really a DCI on A7s3 or FX3 or another crop into the sensor with pixel bining? or do Pal country have a BUG ???????
I even tried to reupdated the firmware but when i am on v3.00 i can't ré-update it.... software indicate that is not good software system update....
Matt, Can you confirm us please because it is very important. If you confirm us that this 4k DCi run normally i prefer shoot in normal 4k and then do 4K DCI in editing software since there isn't more horizontal résolution.

So the focus breathing compensation only works with Sony Lenses? Not for instance Sigma?
That has always been the case, and only with certain Sony lenses.
Always been like tha in all camera models. It’s locked to work on Sony lenses only
HELP ME MAT I swipe from the right of the screen and up comes a lot of functions my question is how do I get them off ( I tried swapping from the left NO LUCK swipe from the bottom it brings up another menu.... I just want it clean again
