As russian, I must say that all of your information about this food is pretty correct. Usually there is a misconception (especially) about beverages, but you got that right. Kvass is a yeast beverage similar to vegemite but sweet, and Baikal is a coke with herbs.
And I can approve that this kind of products is what (my family) used to eat.
I hope you liked it, because I enjoyed your video - great work!
Hello from Russia! Really liked your video. It's good to see such nice and polite people! Good luck to your chanel!:)
Also don't be deceived by cyrylic that looks like latin letters, they are pronounced differently lol. "Kopoha" is actually "Korona" (crown) for example.
@British Bulldog oh yeah, baby.
@KJ Dempsey
No no no, but i get the joke lol
Glad you guys enjoyed the food we sent you :) Always a pleasure to hear your opinions on different foods - the descriptions and comparisons you make are always interesting and on point!!
Sorry about those wafers that got crashed; we promise they usually keep their integrity lol
- Toby and Kane
thanks for showing them these amazing snacks!! :)
What an interesting food haul! I'd really love to try Russian food. Thanks for introducing me to this cuisine.
Make a Butterbrot with white bread and butter and put varenye on top. And drink tea. That's the right way to taste it!
The Bear Waffles are called "Mischka Kosolapij". This means "Bear with hunched/crooked claw. The Marshmallows are called "Sefir". They come in a large variety of flavours e.g. with strawberry or cranberry.
On the thumnail is the dutch flag
Kvas is pretty big around middle and eastern Europe but it's an acquired taste.
Hello from Ukraine (southern neighbour of Russia). Glad you liked the snacks (I've tried them all and consider most of the very delicious).
Not neighbour anymore.
Alex Noizekiller it’s not like they moved
@@danromoda In one way yes, in another not really. Both are slavic you know but now kind of hate eachother.
How very sweet of them to send you all those goodies! Loved this video, as always! Xo
There’s something about these sweets and the tea and the fall decorations, it makes me crave fall and winter and feel so relaxed and happy like it actually is a nice fall morning. You two are just the best. Daiso should sponsor a Netflix series with you lol
Toby and Kane, thank you for sending all of these wonderful treats! Everything looks so delicious. It is so fun watching these treat videos from different places...it's like traveling the world while sitting on my couch! Thanks so much for another great video! PS You both look great in plaid, gentlemen. Satoshi, your hat is wonderful. :-)
I love you guys !!!! Your so gracious and honest !!!!!!
I have a russian supermarket where I live (germany)
I always go there just to buy wafers
Captain Geno no but just because I don't drink any alcohol ;)
Wie heist der laden?
Rias Gremory wahrscheinlich Mix markt
And now I want to try all this stuff 😍😍😍
Wow great vid guys. This is like THE most respectfull russian food review.
What fun snacks! I’m a huge fan of mushrooms, so I think that I would love the mushroom flavored potato chips. The little bear chocolates looked yummy too! I can’t wait to see the last half of the remaining Russian snacks on your next video. Thanks for sharing brothers!!
Mindy's Mom the bear wafles are weary good and the image on the pakage is a famous Russian painting "morning in the pine woods" (if I remember corectly).
Inese Venzele......Thank you for sharing this with me. ❤️
9:50 - yep, that is exactly how it is made. Sunflower halva is perhaps the cheapest sort of treats you can get in Russia, but that does not make it any worse. I love it.
Hello from Russia! It's nice to see that foreigners appreciate russian food :) I hope to taste some japanese snacks too!
We have something similar to the chocolate covered marshmallow here in the U.K. too, they are called "Teacakes", the only difference is they have a slightly soft cookie at the bottom. We also have traditional herbal Cola too by a brand called Fentimans.
those preserves would be amazing on yogurt or ice cream
So many of the treats looked so yummy, especially the preserves.
*I am rassian,было приятно как вы оцениваете нашу еду, 👍👍, you are cool guys*
Russian, бро))
That cola drink sounds interesting! I'd love to try it one day.
Not Kopoha, but Korona(means Crown). I was thinking to send you guys some Russian snacks, when I was living there, but, unfortunately, I moved to Japan, so no possibility nowadays...
Damn the thumbnail! xD I thought yay dutch food. Then I read the title. 😂
After recently having run across kvas here in town, I came back to see if you'd tried any -- and sure enough, it's the first item! your friend was very kind to send you one of the best, most popular commercial brands (Ochakovskiy) -- which I have yet to try, as it sells out as soon as it shows up at our local European market!
This was a very enjoyable episode. I think you should make a t-shirt with Satoshi's face on it saying "I was enjoying."
I'd love to try the mushroom flavour crisps (chips). We don't have that one in the UK and it sounds yummy.
I can send that one for you, if you want.
That would be great, thank you. Email me on joeylk71@gmail.com and we can discuss further :)
That cardamom soda looks so good! I love cardamom. And that chocolate covered marshmallow looks like it would be so nice with that tea. Very comforting. :)
I love the translation insert at the end. Nice new touch :)
😂
excellent video.Just what I expect when I see a food review video and more!
Authors is good! You tasted all of food is really correctly, actually usually authors tasted how easy rider. Good luck in your creation.
I would love to try the cola, coriander, eucalyptus drink, sounds very good. The strawberry preserve sounds like it would be good served hot over vanilla ice cream!!! A lot of that looks good for snacking and treats.
Looks delicious :) Gotta go to Russiaaa
Great job.. Makes me want to go to Russia. Can't wait for part 2.
Marshmallow and chocolate is like my favorite ❤️
Can't wait for part 2 😊
Baikal contains: licorice root, eleutherococcus, St. John's Wort, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, laurel oil, fir oil.
The russian coke looked interesting! It almost reminded me of a rootbeer since rootbeer has all those different sort of flavors to it. I would have liked to try that!
That actually makes a lot of sense, since Root Beer traditionally does have similar mixture of flavors, even a wintergreen sorta like menthol-y element to it which is similar to Eucalyptus.
Just thinking about it has got me cravin' a nice ice cold root beer!
Kvass is great in the summer.
This gives me so much nostalgia
Russia makes some really good chocolates. My mom likes to get them from Amazon and they're delicious. I also love the graphic design on a lot of these sweets. They're beautiful, especially the ones with pictures of animals. I find that really charming. :)
not really, as a russian who tried almost all chocolate i can safely say i hate russian chocolate as it mostly tastes like butter/spread. Japanese chocolate is much better
Great video! I enjoyed watching you try kvass since I found it to be really awful the 1st time I tried it. If you liked the sunflower halva, I suggest you try some Middle Eastern Halva which is made with sesame paste and honey. I can't have it in the house because I love it so much I will eat the whole chunk and I'm diabetic. My aunt, who was Russian, always had her jam or preserves in a spoon on the saucer and would eat a little bit of jam and sip the tea, then repeat the process until both were gone. Another very Russian way to drink tea is to take a sugar cube and sip the tea through the sugar cube. Not surprisingly, many adult Russians have steel teeth in the front. Also, many Russians drink their tea in a glass, often with lemon if it's available.
9:49 he literally just described how to make halva
I am always so excited everytime I see a new video! The wafers look especially yummy!
gracelia The wafers do look good don't they. Even if they were destroyed 😋
gracelia if you like this channel try watching emmyeatsinjapan!
How have I never seen this video! I’m Russian and from Russia and never had Russian snacks or food!
Thanks for the review, pitty that Russian products are hard to come by in the Netherlands. I especially liked that you said most of them where not as sweet as the western products,
I agree that things are much to sweet in the west. Would love to try these tastes myself.
The basic soup you make with kvas is often eaten with stale bread crumbs ( light staleness helps it not get soggy) and sometimes served in a hollowed out bread loaf. Eastern Europe is the bread people.
PS: Isn't the mushroom flavor portobello?
Those potato chips sound so delicious.
I loved this video!!!!That’s what I thought about it!!!💚❤️
30 years ago a Russian snack 'haul' would have consisted of half a loaf of stale bread. Haven't they come a long way, bless them - they're even wrapping their food in plastic now.
Here Puff Puff unnecessarily rude.
Secret Diary of a Foodie In the Gorbachev era, individuals would be queing for hours for a piece of bread. Why is history 'unnecessairly rude'?
Thank you capitalism.
Yummy they all look so good :D
💘 love you video's
👌 keep ☝ up the 👍 good work.
These snacks look so good.
Does anyone know about that sunflower halva? Is it made from sesame seeds like traditional halva with sunflower seeds added to the ground mix or is it made entirely from sunflower seeds instead of the sesame?
Pamela J Levene entirely from sunflower seeds
Interesting! Thanks. Halva here in Israel is always made from sesame seeds so I just assumed that was the rule! (Sunflower seeds are very popular roasted and salted in the shells. Chew and spit! 🌻)
Awesome haul!
That black tea (Maiskiy?) also features in Russian military MREs! (Please correct me if I didn't transliterate that properly, native speakers!)
J.R. Caldoon that's right
Thank you, +Uncle Alex. :)
I want mushroom chips!!
i want those mushroom chips, they would sell here, hell they could also do a local flavor with charntrel mushroom flavored ones... omg...
Wrong flag boys.
Same, I thought he didn't enjoyed the sunflower snack
I can never guess what will be your favorite item, sometimes you look so hyped by a snack, but goes to the one you barely seems to care about haha
Russian flag is white, blue, red from top to bottom. Dutch flag should be oranjegekte what?! Also, Drinks of Chernogolovka "Duchess Pear" flavor is one of the best soft drinks I've ever had from any source. Thank you, Russia!
You are welcome.
P.S.: I live in Chernogolovka. :)
I have to amend my comment. I've tried the Buratino and Tarkhun flavors since then, but our local store doesn't carry Baikal. The Buratino has nice, almost bubble-gum like flavor (similar to the original Ramune soda, I think?). Tarkhun is my favorite by far... I love anise, liquorice, and tarragon (tarkhun), and the unearthly green color would make it an interesting mixer for alcoholic beverages. Ersatz absinthe (minus the louching, of course), anyone?
Babushka strawberry jam😍😘
(Babushka)- grandmother
Cool tasting, guys! I would have loved that strawberry jam....I bet its delicious on toast. :)
Part 3!!! Do it!!!
mood rn: watching videos about something russian and laughing because u from russia

Where can I get all of these snack? I really interested try all these snacks
Somone buying in Petorcka hehe, same stuff i by and bring into my country Tula cake is good, there some sweet from cheese, like sweet filed creamy chese caled Sirok omg staff is soooo good, and also baycal i like, but halva is not Russian this one just produce by Russian company, but orgin land of halva is Turkey
I hope you get the Australian treats I sent you :D
Candy's you ate that had family of bears on it are pretty good. This picture was drawn by famous Russian artist - Ivan Shishkin
opisanie-kartin.com/uploads12/image242.jpg
You should get some snacks from Ukraine, they have Lay's chips in crab flavor! And when we get a nice chip flavor in Poland (usually polish themed flavors are only limited edition unfortunatelly) I'm gonna send you some for sure.
I was so excited for some Dutch snacks :'( but it turns out to be Russian snacks
the halva is actually made from sesame and not sunflower. at least if its traditional style
Colt Gustafson In Russia, halva is made from sunflower seeds. This is a by-product of sunflower oil production.
This one is a sunflower seed one. Russia also has many varieties of the sesame seed halwa as well.
Russian! Call out! I'm not alone here ?? (I hope my people know English) =)😂
Did you fail to say preeyatnova apeteeta
The Halva that you ate isn't exactly what you think. Because of it's made out of Sesame seeds and nuts a little additional sugar. And how do i know what's going on inside the treat is that Russians are very jealous of the middle East and Arabian snacks . (I come from the middle East ISRAEL is in the middle eastern country also Jordan ).
Yocheved Mendelson what do you mean "it isn't what you think"? They had the sunflower seed version this time, not the sesame seed version, which they've tried before.
Completely unnecessary to say "Russians are jealous of" blah blah your country's food.
Satoshi the voice in cooking with dog, is that your voice?
nope
People keep saying it is and that he said so, but doesn't sound like it to me so I keep asking which video he said it was on... I have never gotten an answer.
It's tea not "kopoha" it's name " Crown Russian Empire ".
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Do Ukraine next.
Sergey Sedlovsky they "do" what they are sent in the mail by viewers in that country. So if you live in Ukraine you can send them things to taste 😊😊
