The Unsolvable Scooby-Doo Mystery

- I love the fall season. Everything about it is just amazing. Fall is truly the "feel good" season in my opinion. Nothing pairs better with the feel good season than getting bundled up all cozy and watching a good mystery unfold on TV. The two go hand in hand. If ever there was a show that meets right in the middle of mystery and that "feel good" feeling, it would be Scooby-Doo. It's a show that has been entertaining generations of kids and adults alike for decades now. That's why today, on our nostalgic walk down memory lane, we are attempting to solve what might be an unsolvable Scooby-Doo mystery.
Thank you for watching!

I always felt that the best Scooby-Doo movies are the ones that have an air of real mysticism to the mystery, The Zombies being real, The Loch-ness Monster actually being real, The Witch being real, Alien's existing, Cyber-chase gets a pass for taking place in a virtual world.
Supernatural crossover.
Camp Scare tho
Ghoul school, Boo Brothers, Werewolf, and some others. Before Zombie island were a thing. While not great we did know monsters existed like dracula.
@@DemonicGoddess technically yes but most of those monster were the ones that came from the original universal monster movies and are so well known as movie characters most people would think those were dreams specially given the fact that most adults know shaggy is a stoner. Where as zombie island interduced the idea that real people can become monsters and not just because of greed behind a mask. Witch in my opinion is what made the original live action interesting because it took the concept of real people being corrupt, becoming real monsters and ran with it.
@@deamea5098 He inherits a house in boo brothers, + in the other his girl friend was kidnapped. While ghoul school i could see as a trip it is a bit odd for him to stone up a school of monsters and then challenge prep boys to volly ball?
“How humiliating, getting chased into a hole by 1/3rd of a BLT” shaggy kills me to this day
Same he was my childhood crush and now my bf is a snacking, smoking, funny guy 🤣
@@cryingline9697 Someone pass Shaggy the baggy, so he roll Scooby a doobie.
Zombie Island is legendary. Always enjoyed how dark it was, such as having tourist zombies in with the civil war etc zombies, showing recent victims that were killed and dumped.
Yeah..... And watching this video, I realized I don't remember anyтнιng about the beginning of the movie before they went to the island 😅
And Return to Zombie Island was crap as fuck*3
The plus-sized zombie with the dress and flowers, I had thought she was pregnant or something. Seeing it is really sad.
Bro, if you look carefully the film is freaking dark. The Cat God is basically a demon (A god that curses and demands blood sacrifices?) And a the zombies, sure, some look like civil war era, but a lot of them look like modern tourists, and there were dozens upon dozens of them, is the only Scooby Doo movie that implies that people died beyond the ghost themselves, and died Horribly!
Easily my favorite, man I LOVED everything about it, the setting, the mystery, the characters and morivations (I mean for a scooby doo movie)
Did I just spend 40 minutes of my life watching a video essay on direct to DVD scooby doo movies? Yes. Did I enjoy it? HELL YES!
The one where Daphne’s like a world class martial artist and gets invited to Japan is wild
samurai sword was next level mad lmao
Samurai Sword was one of my favourite Scooby Doo movies
@@aliceofei2813 yeah but it was an exciting movie nonetheless
@@andrewsanusi8462 dogg ok

Love samurai sword!
Zombie Island was definitely the darkest scooby doo movie out there. You have actual monsters that lured and slaughtered countless victims (granted they were the victims at first because of Moonscar), some of the most graphically shocking zombies at the time for a kids movie (seeing zombies being reanimated from bones to rotten skin is definitely a shock factor, as well as Simone and Lena turning into skeletons and then exploding into pieces.) I actually found the transformation scene too scary for me when I was little. This movie was definitely a one of a kind treat for the franchise. The animation factor in this movie was brilliantly well done too.
Cyber Chase was really cool too, being transported into a virtual reality world and seeing all the different worlds the gang had to go through, it was a pleasent experience. But, I think Zombie Island is the one that sits on the throne.
As I got older (24 now ) zombie island was always king but The witches ghost definitely is number 2 with it's vibes , colors, hex girls , plot it's fantastic
for me its 3. Zombie Island, 2. Camp Scare, 1. Witch's Ghost
Hex girls and Gwen cemented my love for goth mommies when I was a young man
By far the one that lives in my head rent free is the witches ghost and the very first live action one, idk why but I loved it
@@professorwizard8916 same witches ghost is the best movie
Witches ghost is iconic even if solely for the Hex Girls. They just bump up the movie from a solid fun C to an A- by being there. Of the OG 4 movies I feel like top 2 are definitely Zombie Island then Witches ghost. Cyber & aliens are both about the same level for me.
There’s something so unique about that era of scooby-doo right before the “what’s new scooby-do?” era(which I also like). It’s like the creators of that era weren’t afraid to get actually creepy and dark with the subversions of there being actual ghosts and monsters like obviously the zombies, cat-people, the ghost of Witch Sarah Ravencroft, the cyber-stalker, aliens, etc. the witch’s ghost and zombie island was legit creepy enough that I had nightmares as a kid over them.
The scene when Velma reveals the name of Moonscar's ship is brilliant. It's the third beat of the joke, transforming the "get out" into a Maelstrom -- it changes the warning about the house into a warning of a mighty, terrible storm. It's a clever reveal, but it also builds on what's established in the scene.
Honestly this is the first "horror" movie I ever watched and as a kid I actually got chills when the trailers came out. I watched it on my own but always made sure to leave the lights on. The zombies looked real and everything felt so high in stakes
This is a great film, but nowadays zombies are not really seen like moving slowly with arms stretched out. Now, they're seen like Walking Dead walkers or the zombies from Z Nation.
Finally, someone else who appreciates November for being a fall month! And thanks to Caddicarus, I can only think of Cyber Chase as "Scooby Doo meets Spindly Johnny"
All hail 🧡😝
*in a deadpan voice* “oh no it’s Spindly Johnny run, get away he is so menacing*
winter: December January February
Sping: March april may
Summer: June july August
fall: September October November 🥰🥰
"ITS SPINDLY JOHNNY! RUN FOR YOURLIVES!"
Not to mention this was posted on December 17th, which is technically fall as well!! People forget that the first three weeks of December are autumn haha probably because of Christmas commercialism
I never could decide as a kid between the ghoul school or the boo brothers. But when zombie island came out. It literally took Scooby-Doo to the level everyone always wanted it to be at. My father grew up with it as a kid. And he really enjoyed zombie island and even quoted himself that's what he always wanted to see in Scooby-Doo.
Same
As someone who lives in the NOLA area, this movie is a love letter to the food here. And yes, crawfish is as delicious as it looks.
Thank you
I'm only 5 minutes in and don't know which movie that is yet. I do agree, mudbugs are yummy. They are like giant shrimp you can easily catch in mud holes all over south Louisiana. I like them with fried catfish I catch in our lake by the Treasure Chest Casino. After you boil them in crab boil, peel then batter some with fish fry then flash fry to crisp up the coating. Yum. I'm more interested to see the rest of this video now.
I love November. Its my birthday month
WHO DAT
Fred’s trap expertise would actually translate well to stage-hand knowledge with lighting, electrical, etc. Love that bit of character development, Daphne’s the face and Fred’s the BTS
The first four movies have a special place in my heart. I love them a lot. Watching a Scooby movie with real monsters was a huge treat for me as a kid. It changed what Scooby-Doo was.
I think the two things that really make zombie Island stand out to me are Fred's attempts to make some explanation other than actual magic make sense, imo it works better than when it's Velma slotted into that role, and the fact that at least to my knowledge it's the first time at least in the animated movies that has badass Daphne where she actually shows that she can fend for herself and be a key piece of the gang on her own.
would love to see you talk about alien invaders and witch’s ghost as well since these 4 movies kinda all go hand in hand together as the “real monster” movies (my personal favorite has always been cyber chase)
Why does everyone forget that this set (Real Monsters) started with Reluctant Werewolf? 😅😅😅
@@bradecurrencyfarman2164 because it was released 10 years before the other 4 and not marketed as part of the set of them
@@bradecurrencyfarman2164 It wasn't part of the home video release series. These four movies, Zombie Island, Alien Invasion, Cyber Chase, and Which Ghost were all made on the same contract deal to make more movies for adult. You can really tell these movies were made by the same group to, just by the new art style, the story telling, and themes of these movies. While Reluctant Wear wolf does feature real monsters, as does Boo Brother and Scream School, they were not made on the same deal, nor were they even that popular or good in comparison these movies.
@@zero1zerolast393 yet my mind always adds a fifth movie to this four movie group. That being the one In Australia with the vampires. It’s probably the fact the hex girls are in it that makes my king naturally tie it into this group of movies.
@@DevinEMILE Legend of the Vampire?
I associate that one with the rest too just because of the style, but it ended up being another "the monsters were humans and there's no supernatural beings" situation
For me, Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost is the best because not only was the mystery real, but it introduced 3 of the most legendary characters in all of Scooby-Doo canon. The Hex Girls, who were so awesome they not only appeared in other Scooby-Doo movies (Legend of Vampire Rock most notably) but also got to pop up in both "Whats New, Scooby-Doo" and "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated" the latter of which even provided them two new looks, and gave us a sweet supernatural-ish battle of the bands.
Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders and Cyber Chase will always be the best, i wish they did more animated movies with this style
In that order...
Zombie Island used to terrify me as a kid when I would do my rounds of the Scooby Doo dvds on snow days, days off, etc, but I loved it. Looking back, watching it now, I hold a deep love of the movie
I was always creeped out by the film but for me personally I never thought it was scary, although the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode after Alien Invaders on VHS traumatized me
This Dude NEEDS to watch Camp Scare. it's got great action scenes' a shocking plot twist and a interesting story.
Agreed
Agree 100% it’s Friday the 13 th meets scooby Doo!
You got it! I’ll put that right at the top of my list of videos to make 👍
@@DuskTillShawn you wont regret it, its the same vibes as zombie island
yup that's easily my favorite of the Direct to video Scooby Doo movies.
Zombie island was so freaky and cool. I remember being so freaked out by the voodoo dolls part
I have been obsessed with voodoo dolls since I was young just because of zombie island. Always wanted to make one of my friends but after doing a bit of research I realized they don't work the same girl lmao.
It's Terror Time Again was my ringtone for the longest time. I LOVE Scooby Doo on Zombie Island for such a long time. THANK YOU for highlighting this
I feel like the main difference is that even though I think that Zombie Island is the better quality movie, Cyber Chase is the more digestible movie. It’s not nearly as dark (both in tone and design). There’s much more comedy. And of course, you have the carnival level with all of the cameos. It’s a much easier movie to enjoy compared to Zombie Island unless you’re prepared for a heavier movie to watch. Either way, these movie releases during the 90s and 2000s were so iconic that I can’t fault anyone for loving any of them more than the others ❤️
I love both of these movies, but Scooby Doo and The Witch's Ghost will always be at the top of my list.
Same.
Same here. It had the best villain, imo.
Yes, I feel it gets overlooked way too often.
Zombie Island is first for me, Witch's Ghost is a close second.
The one thing that I didn’t realize till years later is the ghost appearances progress from barely visible to out right zombies the closer to the harvest moon symbolizing the event to come and that the supernatural is stronger during this event
I'm an O.G. Scooby-Doo Fan and I completely get why you're torn between these two movies. Both were classics that feature riveting plots, fully fleshed out twists and surprising villains (three elements many of the other TV movies, live action movies, and even the plethora of TV series incarnations clearly lack). However, I have to give the edge to Zombie Island because of how it showed the gang having not only gone their separate ways but also working regular jobs (and thriving in them - well Velma, Daphne and Freddie anyway) before "getting the band back together" so to speak. Those opening scenes made the gang appear like real people instead of the cartoonish versions of Dobie Gillis character on which they were based. In a nutshell, Zombie Island gave the Mysteries, Inc. Crew a soul - something that neither Cyber Chase nor any of the other properties of The Scooby-Doo Canon have ever come close to succeeding in doing.
I own both films, but I feel like they he should have compared Zombie Island with Witch's Ghost. I feel like Witch's Ghost is a better film to compare to Zombie Island. It's actually got horror stuff in it, and it has a cursed spell book that has no origin story other than it being buried by a tree.
As a kid I loved both of these movies. Zombie island had a tight story and dark themes, but cyber chase had that video game aesthetic and the meta-ness of the doubles blew my mind as a kid. I loved thinking about that kinda stuff. Overall I like zombie island more for the same reasons mentioned in the video. I still have it on dvd!
As someone who has lived in Louisiana their whole life, you should definitely try some of the food from the movie! Though be wary as crawfish stink to high hell (I personally don't like them simply due to that). I do wish they could have animated the gumbo a bit better though since that's definitely not what it looks like.
I love both of these movies so it's definitely hard for me to pick which was my favorite. Cyber Chase with its video game aspects appeals to my game design side while Zombie Island appeals to my Southern side since I am actually from Louisiana.
I remember visiting my hillbilly cousins in Louisiana and they lived wayyyyy out in the middle of nowhere and every single day for the two weeks I was there all we did was go fishing and cook everything we caught. Ever since then I absolutely love the taste of crawfish or crawdads as we Pennsylvania boys call them. matter of fact I just looked it up and apparently all freshwater crawfish are actually crawdads. Anyways yeah crawdads and catfish boy absolutely delicious with some onions and garlic with a side of creamy yams oh my god
I was raised on burnt CDs with different Scooby Doo seasons and direct to video movies on them. Zombie Island will always take the cake, but Chill Out Scooby Doo also has a special place in my heart. Also, anyone wanna talk about the dumpster fire that was Scooby Doo: Return to Zombie Island?
I have a few burnt dvd’s from Boomerang back in the day. Once I find them I’ll have to rewatch them I haven’t seen the burnt ones since early 2012.
Zombie Island is definitely the best one! I've always loved that movie! 😊
I loved all of these. I was born in 2000 but I remember being young watching these on cartoon network and all of these are just classics. Every old Scooby Doo is better than anything newer than like 2010
from nostalgia Cyber Chase is always going to be king for me, thats the one me and my brother watched repeatedly as a kid but zombie island as an adult is probably the real winner
This video just hit me right in the nostalgia feels. Zombie Island is by far the best scooby doo movie. The story, the music, the animation, nothing can compare. They even made a return to zombie island in 2019
however, Return to Zombie Island was REALLY bad
I have no intention of watching the unnecessary sequel. Zombie Island didn't need one. It's a stand-alone film in my eyes.
@@CassandraPantaristi good cause like I said: Return to Zombie Island is REALLY bad, I mean really, really, REALLY bad
@@bulborb8756 I heard.
I remember being REALLY upset for weeks after watching this movie as a kid because I'd never even thought about them spliting up and the idea killed me lol, it's one of my favourites now.
For me, it was always Scooby-Doo and the Boo Brothers. I always enjoyed the wide variety of ghosts, the escaped "ghost" circus ape, and the wacky side-characters causing trouble. But more than that, I liked all the riddles and the clues provided to solve the mystery. It felt to me like a more solid and solvable mystery than most Scooby-Doo stories while still maintaining the hijinks and such that make it so funny.
Cyber Chase... probably my favorite movie of my childhood. I was obsessed with the Virus even drawing him for art class. I still have the VHS and a DVD. #LoveThePhantomVirus
Oddly I also had a obsession with the virus, and I sketched a lot too and the other monsters
A lot of people really like him, including myself, we're just drawn to him.. It's weird.
After thinking about it, the fact that Ms. Lamwa turns into a cat monster could be seen as a possible nod to the fact that her voice actress, Adrienne Barbeau also voiced Catwoman in Batman the Animated Series. Tara Strong who voiced Lena also voiced Batgirl in The New Batman Adventures.
Scooby Doo On Zombie Island is one of my all time favorite Scooby Doo films, especially since it's the first movie where the entire gang face real supernatual entities, unlike the other films when it was just Shaggy,Scooby and Scrappy...well and the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.
How come everyone keeps saying that?? Ghoul school or reluctant werewolf are the first movies that the gang face real monsters!! Right!?
@@aubriecase2840 I think the 80s specials are considered an alternate continuity 'cause they don't follow the same plot formula as a typical episode.
Growing up cyber chase was to me what zombie island was to you so it will always my heart.

its hilarious to me that you keep mentioning how good the food looks in this movie cause I literally always felt the same way. I never would've thought someone else would have this same take
Same I finally tried beinets
SAME
I still want that gumbo now, in my 20's
I always thought this too. Specifically, I really wanted to try crawfish as a kid lol
I felt the same too the food looked so good whenever they were eating spicy I would eat something spicy and watch the movie lol 😂
I have Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island on VHS Tape too, my old TV had a VHS Tape Player and I watched it almost everyday, multiple times a day
The food animation as a kid made me want to try southern cuisine too! So glad I kept my old VHS tapes also. 💙💛
As someone from Louisiana, yes you should try the food here
I agree with everything you said. My family also owns zombie island and I've seen it multiple times and i think its the best by far. the soundtrack is genuinely great, the animation is pretty good considering when it was made, and if you're watching it for the first time, its kind of captivating because you expect it to just be "a guy in a mask" and then it turns out there are real ghosts and zombies. THEN later on, the amazing plot twist that they are HELPING the real monsters and the ghosts were warning them of the danger that the land owner posed. THEN once they defeat them, and have no evidence of what happened THE GARDENER is a detective. all in all it leaves nothing to be desired and is truly an iconic movie for anyone who has seen it. I appreciate your in depth dive into each movie and breaking them down and comparing them. You did a great job.
Epitome is pronounced as "eh-pit-oh-me". Just for future reference. Also, great video! Any chance to watch Scooby-Doo makes me day brighter. ❤️
I briefly went to school for animation and I JUST ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE ANIMATION IN ZOMBIE ISLAND. I re-watched it a few years back, and besides some animation failings in the film, it still holds up to this day. That, the story, and the soundtrack makes it my absolute favorite Scooby-Doo thing ever created.
The sound editing on "who opened the window" and the creepy music behind it freaked me out as a kid, so too that the monsters were all real and wanted to kill the gang for reals. Truly a scary film. Cyberchase had this feel to a lesser extent but there were too many obvious clues with the baseball references to sustain that feeling it might be real. Cyberchase also did a lot of random location jumping (which makes sense for the film), but Zombie Island really feels like they are stuck in a terrible place. Zombie Island will always be up there with Gunn's 2002 live action Scoob film as the best Scooby Doo productions, and definitely the best part of the animated content.
I remember having this movie on VHS when it first came out! I was SHOCKED to see Scooby and the gang in such a dark, close to reality film. I loved it for that reason! I love how they tied in the real history of confederate slavery with the mystical aspect of the zombies and were-cats.
Even now, I still say “and you ain’t never gonna did” 😂😂😂
I remember when zombie island premierd on cartoon network, it was october weekend. had some mc donalds happy meal and watch this movie along with other spooky shows. man that time of year felt unforgettable because of all thre great shows theyd air, along with the buzz with everyone at school who watched it.
Zombie island is easily the best of the movies I've seen, between reluctant werewolf, ghoul school, witch's ghost, cyber chase, alien invasion, attack of the Vampire, night of the chupacabra and a few others from the mid 2000s. The best overall quality in all aspects of the writing and production, and its genuinely dark and terrifying material for children. Even as a grown man, that catperson transformation is disturbing, almost looks like the animation and design from attack on titan. Watched it after only seeing a few episodes of the show from the 70's and had me hooked, when the newer Era of the show came out, I believe around 2002, I was intent to catch new episodes when they premiered
Not me rocking out to this soundtrack the entire time and somehow remembering the lyrics.
To be fair, my husband and I did get nostalgic about a year ago and watched it lol!
Zombie Island was the best if not the darkest Scooby Doo movie ever
Like it’s version of the Dark knight Returns
These two in particular were my favorite back in the day. When cyber chase was brought up I literally clapped because that one was my number one. I also remember playing the game.
As another “I’ve watched every Scooby Doo movie” person, you’ll hear Zombie Island and Witch’s Ghost and Cyber Chase spoken about constantly as the best movies and yeah, they’re definitely great (I love Witch’s Ghost and Alien Invaders) but I do think a lot of it is nostalgia talking. There was a definite drop in quality in the mid 00s and 10s but things like Curse of the 13th Ghost are so good and rarely given a look. I think my thing with Zombie Island is that it’s fun as a stand-alone but the animation is that rough late 90s style that doesn’t work for me and the voice performances are weird and everyone feels slightly out of character.
Scooby Doo and KISS is a personal favorite.
Legend of the Phantosaur is one of my personal faves
Tbh there is no set character model for anyone. Like they each have eras of a personality which movies usually choose a specific one to use. Like Daphne can be seen as incredibly competent or kinda dumb and super clumsy depending on which era. I think Jello Apocalypse (think that's the channel) did a good video explaining the various character traits that each character uses throughout the history of Scooby-doo when explaining why he thought Fred was the best character. Obviously the characters can seem off if this is a personality they've never exhibited anywhere before, but I feel like Zombie Island has them acting a way I remember seeing in other media. I could be misremembering though
I unironically love the Scooby-Doo Undertaker crossover movie and I don’t even watch WWE. It’s just a stupid fun movie.
@@anthonynguyen1289 I hope this comment didn't come across as combative, just enthusiastic! haha I've also watched that video and am a fellow Fred fan, but I - personally! it's truly just personal - don't love the way that zombie island has the gang pulled out of mystery solving before pulling them back in. It's like how i can't get into Big Top Scooby Doo because as fun as it is (especially the entire fred plot), anything that hinges a plot on shaggy being a bad friend to scooby just doesn't really feel like the very bare essence of the character to me. but there's a reason film is subjective and I think my frustration comes from steadfastness with which people will knock any deviation from The Big 3 scooby doo favourites, which feel so heavily informed by nostalgia. and I love nostalgia!
Cyber chase was my favorite when I was 7-10, I jokingly thought maybe cyberchase would be mentioned but I NEVER expected it to be one of the greatest.
The robot-man episode that you show, is actually the one episode that scared me the most, as a kid. Seeing it now, i still feel creeped out. Probably because of the whole abandoned circus fair and the fact that that damned thing actually a certain noise which was the scariest part to me.
Zombie Island is also a VHS I watched a million and one times growing up. Forever a favorite
Zombie island was my favorite movie when I was younger, so recently (Probably like 4 months ago) I decided to re watch it to see if it was still any good. It was actually really surprising to me cause I still loved it, the only part of the movie I remembered going back into it was the terror time song and it was even better than I had remembered. Hands down my favorite scooby doo movie
I both love and feel conflicted by real monsters in scooby doo because the gang really doesn't have anything to do but run away which makes them rather functionally similar.
Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island will forever be the greatest Scooby-Doo movie EVER this movie set the standard the movie was even so dark they had to tone down the movies after the gang actually dealing with a murder case and I like the villains in the masks actually attempted murder on the gang this movie was so good could have been in theaters.
Absolutely agree, Zombie Island is by far the best one in my opinion.
Yeah imagine if it was Scooby Doo was in John Carpenter’s the Fog (which is a coincidence since his wife in this movie)
The music on God was amazing!!
Scooby doo the cyber chase made me a huge history buff and coincidentally I’m studying computer science. That was my favorite scooby doo movie.
When Daphne says "The zombies are the good guys!" I always say "This time or debatable"
Im 26 this year but HOW many times have i seen that lovly fing dog lick that cotton candy off his face. Why would ANYONE want to ruin this series man, i loved almost every episode of this franchise ive ever watched
I'm only 6 minutes intro the video, but I just realized and had to skip ahead to make sure I was right! I'M SO HAPPY CYBER CHASE IS THE OTHER MOVIE BEING COMPARED!! I thought I was the only one who viewed this as an S-Tier Scooby-Doo movie!
That Box of Scooby snacks really speed ran cyber chase in sub 3 mins
Did you know the voice of the garden keeper is Cam Clark from the METAL GEAR GAMES PLAYS ON AS
LIQUID SNAKE
I had cyberchase on vhs as a kid and loved it and I feel like it always gets overlooked
This movie scared me so much as a kid, as an adult I still fully can't rewatch it.
These movies were amazing but man or man mystery incorporated was on a whole different level
I remember when I first saw zombie island. My brother rented it in order to show it to me because it was (and still is) his favourite scooby doo movie. I was around six years old at the time and let me just say, The zombies gave me literal nightmares. For almost a whole week. Yet, upon rewatching it i have to say it has become my favourite scooby doo movie.
SCOOBY DOO ZOMBIE ISLAND FUCKED ME UP AS A KID... but god damn... it's so memorable and probably my favourite mystery the gang went through
what I love about this is that since everybody is suspicious there is no twist villain like in a lot of scooby stuff so you don't know who is helpful and who isn't; so if you forgot most of the movie or are watching it for the first time its a surprise about who is good and bad which is one of my favorite parts of this movie.
as a kid I noticed the post credits scene on zombie island because I had it on dvd but never saw it again glad you mentioned it
Personally, my favorite is easily Zombie Island. I love cyberchase of course, but Zombie Island was and still is on a whole new level
Cyber chase is my absolute favorite. The goodbye scene with the game characters is emotional.
The Witch's Ghost is my favorite. I love the aesthetic of a spooky small town, the autumn/ Halloween setting, Tim Curry, and the Hex Girls! I'm more biased because I watched it before I saw Zombie Island, but even I'm willing to admit that Zombie Island is the best. Cyber Chase is a close third (based on the nostalgia factor), Alien invaders isn't my favorite, but it's not terrible.
Cyberchase was my favorite growing up, I was a sucker for anything that referenced video games/theme parks
Zombie Island is my personal #1, except for the cat blasphemy LOL
But those freaky zombies were nightmare inducing as a kid. I mean c’mon! Fred ripped off someone’s decaying head!
Witch’s Ghost is #2, but honestly, they are both fantastic to me
Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase is hands down my #1 favorite Scooby-Doo movie.
Cyber chase holds a special place in my heart but it definitely is a “Needs Improvement” kind of film. The animation, music, and overall writing could have been better. The story could’ve been more focused and, especially in regards to developing the mystery and suspects. Speaking of which, you don’t spend a lot of time with the suspects at all.
I still love the hijinks in the virtual world, and the “meeting our virtual selves” part, but it did feel aimless and filler-y at times.
I’m always so surprised (and happy lol) at how treasured Cyber Chase is by the general Scooby Doo fan. I feel as if the Alien movie, the Witch’s Ghost, and Zombie Island are far more deserving of such high regard…
Zombie Island was always my favorite. I was born in 94 so I saw it a ton growing up around when it first came out and its original airings. I used to love the voodoo doll part where the dolls are placed next to a fire and they all start kinda burning up. That always stuck with me but I love how dark it was and the fact that it was with Confederate Civil War soldiers was a treat since I'm a Texan who loves history
I liked Zombie Island as a kid because I distrusted the trailers claim that the monsters were real and watched it completely unsure whether they would turn out to be real or not
My favorite Scooby-Doo movie is still Where’s my Mummy! I just love the setting and just ruin exploration has a place in my heart. It’s why I also enjoyed the desert expansion in Genshin!
I find their voice acting in this area of movies very nostalgic.
With cyber Shaggy wearing the red shirt and Cyber Scooby wearing the red collar, they’re nice call backs to The Thirteen Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo.
This just opened up so many memories, I remember being obsessed with Cyber Chase and watching it religiously...
Fine I'll rewatch it.
Zombie Island, is hands down THE BEST Scooby-Doo movie ever made; and I’ll fight anyone over it lol
Almost everyone I see apriciates zombie island but my favourite scooby doo movie is actually Cyber chase. So much of it just was exactly the aesthetic I loved.
The final Rollercoaster level was like The Backrooms before liminal space was a thing lol
Fun Fact:
Snake Bite Scrubs is voiced by Mark Hamill in Zombie Island. You'd think they'd give a guy like Mark Hamill a bigger role but nope.
24:59 YES! Always been my favorite Scooby Doo movie of all time
When i was a kid i was legitimately TERRIFIED of Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. i was only about 4 or 5 when it came out and i first saw it ( i think we also have it on vhs). But honestly I also love it. It did scare me but i remember watching it multiple times anyway. And now I LOVE it. Its one of my favorite Scooby-doo movies and I honestly think it helped get me into creepy media. Its funny as im easily scared but LOVE horror.
I love both Zombie Islands...Scooby-Doo is my happy place especially when I'm high 🤣🤣 but whatever movie that was with the Hex Girls in it...had me in a choke hold as a kid. They rocked to me.
They are actually in two movies and yeah... They rock.
I gotta say Scooby-doo and the Cyber chase is my favorite moive! It is mainly nostalgic bias talking but I cant help it. I know it may lack in some areas but everytime I watch it I am brought back to when I was young playing it on a jail-broken orginial xbox console with frankly the worst resolution. This films warms my heart everytime I see it. When I am in the mood for a feel good experience I watch this bad boy. For me not other scooby-doo movie/show gives me the since of joy that this movie does which does sound a little silly typing it out now but I still stand by this movie for always being there as an entertaining film to bring me back to when I was younger.
This is interesting to revisit, as I haven't seen, or really thought about either movie in many years. As a kid, I absolutely loved the Cyber Chase film, and now I just really appreciate how the 10th level was a nostalgic snapshot of what Scooby Doo's origins.
Despite feeling more nostalgia for Cyber Chase (and being a huge Tron fan), I'm going to have to agree with your assessment. I think they could have patched up the plot hole by making the Virus sabotage the device (since it was established that the Virus could control electrical equipment).
And it may have been more interesting if each level was designed to pay homage to Scooby Doo's history in one way or another.
This era of Scooby-Doo movies were the peak of the franchise, beside the Crystal Cove mystery series
The title gave me the impression that that there actually was some long-standing mystery with the franchise that the fanbase hadn't solved, but was instead just normal reviews of some of the films instead.
The title is as in "the sense of mystery that makes the films so good" it's not like it was tricking you or something, you just misunderstood
The monsters that are literally real make the mysteries unsolvable In that there's no normal dude behind it
I honestly agreed with the video perfectly...up until the cyber chase. And then like DuskTillShawn said about the music in the cyber chase, the video just kept getting progressively worse.
For starters, the "plothole" could just as easily be explained in three different ways, all that could be rationally thought out.
1) The Scooby snacks is a digitized object. They can easily pluck it in or out because it can't exactly move. However, they don't know what could happen if they just pulled the gang out, and knowing the science team, opted to let them handle it so the guard didn't just do a dumb idea.
2) Releasing them also releases the phantom virus again. So, once again, they let the gang do their thing to eliminate it.
3) Well... They couldn't have a plot if the machine they made _could_ transport the Mystery Gang in, keep the phantom virus in, and also prevent the phantom virus from getting out.
And with the music "getting progressively worse", it's like you went in expecting cyber chase to be just as moody and edgy as zombie island, only to set yourself up for disappointment. The music in zombie island is heavy rock which complements the dark, atmospheric nature of the movie.
However, cyber chase isn't supposed to be edgy, late 90's "but it's scary GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH". It's goofy, light-hearted and poppy, which reflects back at the *overall* family friendly movie tone that it has established.
Imo, these video have two completely different tones and set out to be two different things. But instead we have this, saying that Wind Waker is bad just because Majora's Mask exists. Sorry man, you lost me there.
I love Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island! It’s my favorite Scooby-Doo movie!
It's to bad they made a sequel making everything fake
@@shadowwolf8434 ugh! I know. Don’t remind me. That was super lame 😒 I don’t consider it canon, and Zombie Island didn’t need a sequel
@@777Rowen they also made a sequel to 13 ghosts of Scooby-Doo and im pretty sure its the exact same premise
@@shadowwolf8434 Oh wow really? I haven’t either of those movies
@@777Rowen I saw em last year in Walmart looked em up and nearly lost it those were my favorite parts of Scooby-Doo the monsters the trouble everything was real
I loved watching Scooby Doo as a kid and these 2 movies were definitely my favorite. I did enjoy cyber chase more as a kid but i do recognize that zombie island is probably the best movie because of all the monsters being real and also seeing the gang after their time as mystery solvers. it was interesting to see where they were now that they were older. and cant forget the best song to come from the scooby doo franchise.
I still love to watch Cyber Chase. I did like seeing the other worlds in the game and just thought it was so cool to be transported into a video game since i was quite the gamer as a child. I also loved seeing the old villains and having duplicates of the characters was fun as well.
