Three Vans For Tuckers of Lowleigh

- In our second visit to Lowleigh, a passing station on the ex-GWR branch which wends its way from Kidderminster to the market town of Brombury, we watch the morning freight arrive. Three vanloads of supplies are delivered to Tuckers' agricultural business situated in the station yard. A now empty mineral wagon, which has been unloaded since our last visit, is collected from the local merchant's siding. This scene was played out countless times at stations up and down the country in the days of steam before this traffic was lost to road transport.

Can watch this all day...wonderful
Thank you.
What can I say , first class from start to finish ,the standard of modelling ,the commentary plus the sound really sets the scene .Looking forward to more please .
Thanks for your kind and encouraging words Steven. There are 5 'Lowleigh' videos in all. 'A Day at Lowleigh Station' is the first and 'Diesel Debut at Lowleigh' follows 'Three Vans...' We're busy with no6 at the moment which features the locoshed at Brombury.. I hope you enjoy them. Best wishes, Peter
I love everything about this video, the modelling, the operation, the story line, the narrator/narration - all magical!
Thanks you
That pannier made a visit to my railway today
It certainly gets about!
Beautifully realised !
Thank you Edward. Best wishes, Peter
❤ my grandfather was trainguard, shuntter and conduktor on a small railroadline in the middle of Sweden. I worked (😊) with him as often as possibly. When I was 7 years old the bransch were shutt done and grandpa was retierd. It al come back to me looking at Your wonderful layout and great videos. Thank You ever so mutch!❤️
Thanks for your encouraging comments and fascinating story Thomas. Happy memories! With best wishes, Peter
Hello Peter. I've watched your video's and I have to say that this layout is stunning and is railway modelling of a very high standard indeed. Absolutely everything to like and nothing to dislike whatsoever. You have set the modelling standards bar very high indeed. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful layout in the future. Cheers Chris.
Thank you so much for your kind comments Chris. Best wishes, Peter
Lovely layout and video. I'm struck by how well done the backdrop is, a seemingly seamless transition from 3D to 2D.
Thanks Dave, that's encouraging. I am pleased with the backscene...I try to keep it simple with rounded corners. I hope you enjoy the other 'Lowleigh' videos. Best wishes, Peter
Well done Peter and Julia , wonderfully realistic . Well worth waiting for .
What a lovely model, so well portrayed and filmed too, charisma of the past in spades.
I would love to see an overview of the layout if ever that is possible.
Thank you Peter and Julia for sharing this with us all.
Thanks Steve - the layout is 11'x8', 4 boards 18" wide. It looks far more extensive on the videos than it really is - 3x scenic boards, the 4th is storage - only 4 turnouts in all and effectively a good old 'tail chaser'. Lowleigh was featured in MRJ 241/242/263. Happy modelling, Peter
My second viewing & is just as good as the first viewing ,thank you both ,can’t wait to watch the new video .
Thanks Steve. Merry Christmas and happy modelling!, Peter
This truly is a standard to aspire to... Lovely layout and video. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your kind words Tony. I hope you enjoy the following 4 'Lowleigh' videos on my channel.
Best wishes
Peter
Beautiful and atmospheric model. Truly a case of less being more.
Thank you for your kind words Peter - debut of the diesel in the next video!

Far more realistic than a 'tail chaser' layout. Proves you don't need a massive layout to maintain interest. Excellent well produced video.
Thanks for your kind words Neil. The story continues at:

About the most evocative layout on RUclips. Truly mesmerising. I could watch this almost all day. If I was forced to comment I might say that sometimes the buildings do not look as if they are built on foundations in the ground - dirt and weeds tend to accumulate against wall foundations and create a sort of fillet of crud.
Thanks Rick. I hope you enjoy my other videos. Your comments noted and will bear in mind on my new layout. Best wishes,
Peter
A GREAT CLIP AND WELL NARRATED WITH CLEAR DESCRIPTION WELL DOE BOTH OF YOU
Stunning. So nice to watch as we can't sit and watch SVR trains at Bewdley at the moment.
Thanks for the compliment. Maybe it's not so long before we can visit the valley again scoffing cakes at Eardington and watching the real thing! See you there! Best wishes, Peter
Whilst the world waits for Top gun two we waited for Lowleigh two after a brief false start you created a masterpiece best wishes Laurence
Thanks you for your kind words Laurence. Sorry about the glitch - IT is not my strong point! Look out for Lowleigh 3 - the diesels are coming! Best wishes, Peter
Loved this one too Peter...…..Cheers Kev
Thanks Kev
Top quality work, please keep it up.
Thank you all for your supportive comments. Look out for 'Lowleigh 3' - the diesels are coming!
Any help you can give to the Railway Children charity would be much appreciated. Julia and I have visited the children's hostel in Delhi and witnessed what excellent work the organisation is doing. There is also now a greater emphasis on providing refuge for troubled young people in the UK.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful model railway. (I want to see more so I have subscribed!)
Beautiful layout! Just one small thing: your locos seem to be "chuffing" at half-speed. The exhaust chuffs are from steam being released from the cylinders, which happens at each end of the stroke. So a two-cylinder locomotive should make four chuffs per wheel rotation, and yours are only doing two.
Thanks for your kind words and helpful comments. Quite right I must sort out the chuff rates! Best wishes, Peter
Wonderful!
Thank you
So lovely...
Thank you Thierry.
nice layout, but a remarkable lake of people on it.
Thank you Hans-Ole - you are right of course but it always bothers me that the little people don't move. There are loco crews and passengers in the trains and some judiciously parked road vehicles! Best wishes, Peter
Beautiful layout, very well made video but if only you could get the chuffs right! Both locos should be doing four chuffs per wheel revolution and the prairie is miles out.
Thanks Peter that's very helpful. I will certainly get this sorted - no doubt there is some electronic wizardry in the Powercab to adjust chuffs. Sorry can't improve forthcoming videos 5 and 6 as they are 'in the can'. The Lowleigh story continues at

where there are no chuff problems with the 'bubblecar' diesel! All the best.
This might be an unusual compliment to make but the lighting is exceptional.
The way it falls across the layout and the natural looking formations of shadows just adds the the scene and really enhances the atmosphere of the model.
Could you please explain, How did you do it?
Thanks James, that's good to know, but frankly it's more by good luck than judgement though we do try to ensure that shadows on the backboard are reduced to the minimum. The layout is lit by a track with spotlights attached supplied by a very good company, excellent service and reasonable prices -

Thanks @@peterharrison6230Ill look them up
Hi Peter and Julia, again a real joy to follow the train movements. I have to review your video's for there are so many details to be discovered. I love the "Lowleigh" station sign. Did you make it yourself ? Again, thanks for sharing and greetings from France !
Thank you Filip - the running in board is a white metal kit - I remember it was easier said than done to stick the round upright supports to the board itself.
Hi Peter & Julia. These are really super videos, and in particular I loved your second video and the shunting operations. In times of Covid one could watch this for hours. I'd be very interested to know what your secret is behind the coupling/uncoupling mechanisms. Are they DCC? Greetings from Belgium.
Thanks Mark. No secrets and definitely not DCC! Just Spratt and Winkle and judiciously placed electromagnets! Best wishes, Peter
