Oh my goodness that was absolutely amazing 👏 I worked through Pulborough nearly every day of my career and often wondered how it might have looked, now I know. 🎉
Hello Steven I'm glad you enjoyed it. As I'm sure you know, the two terriers converted to 2-4-0's didn't stay like that very long. They were somewhat inelegant in that guise!
For the first couple of years on the exhibition circuit, the signals were non-working. Making them functional (including all the ground signals) made a huge difference to the pleasure of operating the layout, and also dramatically reduced 'operator error'. We had a plan to interlock the lever frame (as on Plumpton Green), but I only got as far as drawing up the locking table. For the last few years we used the block bells from Plumpton, which improved operation.
@@pauldyer3312 Not quite the same thing, but I am signalman on the Bluebell Railway (as is another of the operating team) hence my interest in signals and block bells. Have you seen 'This is Plumpton Green - setting the scene'?
I’ve not personally seen this wonderful layout, but one day hoping too. It a shame that is only going to remain static. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and narrate the video.
If folks enjoy watching, it's worth the effort. We were very reluctant to retire the layout, but it was getting old and needed a lot of maintenance to keep it going (a bit like the ageing team of operators!). Hopefully, the Pulborough Society will be able to display it, but only as a static exhibit.
Very impressive layout I like these early look at a station pre grouping with this pre third rail and units. There's a 1913 era Semley layout on the Southwestern which is a non exhibition layout of similar time that's really good too, I love the ground signal moving with that freight run round. I look forward to more of this stunning layout.
Hey Barry, I know Pulborough station quite well, not as much of it left these days of course. Up until retirement recently I went through it twice a day on the way to and from London. Looks absolutely amazing the layout really has captured the feel of the place as it would have been back then. Shame it has now been retired but things move on.
This is an amazing layout. I am more into 1940's GWR than pre-grouping but this gives me ideas for my future OO layout about atmosphere and detailing level.❤❤❤
@@barryluck1625 yes, also inspiring me. I may even switch from a branch terminus to a branch line junction or through station if I have enough space for it in OO.
@@barryluck1625 I am studying a shortened version of it as a junction with the branch converted into a heritage railway, a bit like the West Somerset or a GWR version of the Watercress line (Mid Hants). Went to the latter one once and loved the scenery, as it reminded me a bit of my favorite GWR area, the Vale of White Horse (like the Pendon layout and the Pendon Parva station, that I too visited once). It was hard choosing between the late 1900 and the 1940's but as I am also a military modeller and amateur historian (grandson of a member of the Belgian resistance) my choice was logical...
Pulborough was built by the Mid-Sussex 1883 group, a Scalefour area group. In 1997 we embarked on a new layout called 'Brighton Road'. Various members of the group moved away and we disbanded sometime around 2005. Brighton Road had a brief period on the exhibition circuit but was dismantled in 2014. In 2012 my son and I started a new layout 'Plumpton Green' which has been exhibited many times over the past ten years. (We own all the stock which ran on Pulborough). We are now building a smaller layout 'Ouse Wharf' which will be exhibited at the Bluebell in July, and Uckfield in October. Details of all these layouts are on my website here: www.lbscrmodels.co.uk/index.html Search for 'This is Plumpton Green' om RUclips
Suberb....absolutely fantastic skill !
Thankyou for this charming exposition of the "Brighton".
Wonderful old-time layout; full of atmosphere and amazingly skilled model-making. Thanks so much for sharing!

That Barry was a pleasure to watch .Love the attention to detail & the terrier was very interesting .Thank you for that .😊
Hello Steven
I'm glad you enjoyed it. As I'm sure you know, the two terriers converted to 2-4-0's didn't stay like that very long. They were somewhat inelegant in that guise!
A superb video. Superb layout. Brilliant loved it. Well done.
Thank you for this superb presentation - truly a masterpiece.
p.s. Great filming, too. Nice clear, sharp pictures with super steady camerawork.
Nice layout and filming.
Everything looks very natural.
Great work.
Happy Modelling
Cheers Barry, wonderful to see that again! Glad it isn't going in the skip! Cheers, Ian in Blackpool
Hello Ian
Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm working on a couple more. The videos are more or less complete, but adding the sound is very time-consuming.
What a fantastic layout. I'm glad to see that all you signals work.

I should have said I'm a retired signalman myself from the North London line.

@barryluck1625 No, I'm afraid I haven't. Is the Blue Bell railway working under block bells? If so, you are a signalman.
@@pauldyer3312yes, block bells and single line tokens
Stunning layout. Superb work
Very nice station, awesome detailing 😎😎👍👍
Thank you

Superb!
Wonderful as I drove thru this area many times....great idea to use old photos...
A happy coincidence with the group looking for ideas for a new layout, and the publication of 'Branchlines to Midhurst' to provide the inspiration.
An amazing layout thank you.
Thank you
Beautiful layout. Hi from NZ. Regards Bernie
Thank you!
Great detail great layout thanks for sharing 😊 Fred ps love the sound track
Thank you. Adding the sound track takes longer than assembling the video clips but definitely adds to the atmosphere.

Beautiful layout, a shame it will be static but understand reasons behind that
What a lovely model. How big is it ?
The scenic section was about 30ft with 8ft fiddle yards either end.
Honestly, I've never heard of Pulborough, but now I'm just extremely annoyed that I'll never get the chance to see it!
Sorry.......! There'll be a third video coming along soon.

What project are they going to do next

I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Is this a real place or a model ?
Hello Atmakali
This is definitely a model! Pulborough is a real place, and the model is an accurate representation of the real place.
Great use of sound, well done. (Dislike the usual noise and talk around exhibition filming!)
It's a pity they did not choose a more interesting subject. The LBSCR is so bland.
What a comment... It started in 1983 and people have put many many hours into it with incredible modelling skill and you say that. What a pity.
