Firstly, thank you to all subscribers to the ‘Lowleigh’ videos. Your support and encouragement are most appreciated. Sadly, Lowleigh is no more. But I have incorporated as many as possible of the buildings and smaller models into my new layout ‘Ashcombe’. And some of my favourite old locos are still plying their trade albeit converted now to EM gauge.
Lowleigh was, of course, closely based on Highley, Arley and the railways and trains of the Severn Valley and thereabouts. Moving south, the lines radiating from Wells in Somerset are the inspiration for Ashcombe.

This is our last visit to Lowleigh Station. It's 1964 and much has changed since our first video set in 1957 - 'A Day at Lowleigh Station'. Brombury Loco is a 4mm scale model of a small engine shed in the Worcestershire market town of Brombury, terminus of the ex-Great Western Railway branchline which wends its way through Lowleigh from Kidderminster. The video depicts a typical day in the life of the shed on a Saturday in late September 1953.

On Sunday 19th August 1962 British Railways organised an excursion from Brombury and Kidderminster to the Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester. In this visit to Lowleigh we see the 'special' as it makes its way up and down the branch.

A weekly livestock market is held on Fridays at Brombury, terminus of the branchline which wends its way from Kidderminster, via Lowleigh. A dedicated working (Fridays only) transports cattle to and from the market.
