2:35 one of the worst cases, there is not even snow around and it starts like a 92 year old grandpa coughing before he dies. I can bet it was summer diesel, not winter. They just torture good trucks for no reason... Diesel trucks do not need those funky low profile tires, disel is not about racing, but momentum needed to pull some heavy loads!
What are these people doing to their trucks to run like this? I’ve taken my truck on 1000s of mile road trips in sub zero temps and never not once does it ever sound like this? I got a 5th gen tuned and deleted with cheetah turbo and cold air intake and bunch of supporting mods with grid heater delete and use a banks ram air intake horn banks charge pipes and fass 250 kit, it never puts or sounds like this. Granted I use anti gel additives and raise the cetane and lubricity of the fuel but most of these sound like the fuel has gelled up and starving for fuel. Something don’t add up here
Well, thats exactly it. I can’t be asked to add this or that nonsense to my diesel. If I don’t plug it in my truck starts about like these, and will not start without throttle.
@ I don’t understand not adding anything to the fuel, diesel fuel is low quality because of the emissions and environmental stuff stripping out the sulfur, during that process all the lubricity and benefits of running it in the first place is now gone and must be added back into the fuel. Red deyed diesel although illegal for use on the road, has a higher sulfur content like the old school diesels we used to have and therefor has a lot more lubricity in the fuel. This prevents premature wear and tear in addition to helping your power train run efficiently as possible. If you refuse to add them back in or add something like an anti gel additive in subzero temperatures it is operators fault when things go wrong. It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when. That’s the reason many of these trucks sound choked out and need to be plugged in with the hopes of being able to start the truck without it bogging out or being starved of fuel. All that is avoidable by putting in the proper additives to your fuel. That’s the price you pay for driving a diesel in the first place, in addition you significantly improve the life span of power train when you remove emissions equipment in conjunction with adding additives to your fuel regularly. It’s not that big of a deal and when you average 25+ miles a gallon in a 10,000 lb truck I think that’s more than a fair trade off while sitting in your heated seats and gripping your heated steering wheel rolling in comfort but ready for work without breaking a sweat. Just my 2 cents
@ Well, it’s also the result of your truck being a common rail vs mine being P7100. I probably should have mentioned my truck is 90s like a few of the ones in the video. The P7100s can take far, far more abuse fuel wise than the common rails can, at the price of much lower injection pressures and higher volume (which makes idling for longer periods harmful for the engine in ways it isn’t for your truck).
If you have your grid heater deleted you’ve never been anywhere near cold enough. If the truck is starting and running the fuel obviously isn’t gelled.😂
