Good review, but to use an X5 as a comparative was a schoolboy error! RR Sport yes, but not the Full Fat version. It's like comparing a BMW 5 series to a Bentley Continental - hugely different markets and price points - the X5 is renowned for being a joke for anything but road use, whereas outside London a RR is used properly (typically) ;)

People buy expensive vehicles because they cost more. And the more pointless the vehicle the more they like it - it shows they've got money to burn.

nakaye omar Agree to a degree, as this would be in the likes of those who would want the ultimate in luxury and yet not have to go to the gas station because of the name brand of the car. Range Rover did very well to build this truck and the EPA will help it immensely i believe
Honestly now, if Range Rover cares about the "green image" or is trying to meet emission standards, then slapping a hybrid badge is a small, shallow step. It's like a Lexus hybrid, while it aids to refinement, performance, some added efficiency and that's really it for a car of that price range and audience. I hope no one actually thinks that people buy hybrids to gain a green image. The only time other than from morons on internet, I've heard that Family Guy.
It may emit less and is more efficient than all of the other models of its brand, but unlikely to be so compared to a simple family hatch. So none of this "Vegan Range Rover" nonsense.
If Range Rover is honestly trying meet with emission targets, they need a plug-in hybrid, end of story! There's nothing out there that really matches the emission reductions than a plug-in.
Look at the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. And they are pretty much swamped by demand in Japan and The Netherlands alone, even at 4000 units per month!
Overall, it's very usual for brands to deck out a hybrid with luxury, bells and whistles in trying to justify the higher price tag of a hybrid, but all of that extra lovely bling pushed it over £100G. They should've stuck to the same options as the diesel gets.
