She's one of the few anime chars that can give their enemies a "speech of badassery" BEFORE fighting them cause she's simply right. Even while giving their best 4 of the 5 columns barely made it 30-40 seconds, so if they didn't Rena would likely have had a hard time not killing them.
The great thing about the souten is that Rena can activate the robe without a contract from her master. which is actually the weakness for all otomes because they need to protect their masters, because of the contract they practically share one life.
Only reason I would think they met their fate the way they did is cause Rena gave birth, which of course birth causes the nano machines to cease function if I remember correctly. Likely quite a few factions were waiting for this possibility, so Rena would be essentially out of the way.
Do you want to know what makes their beatdown all the worse. Rena did all that AFTER battling a robot in space and crash landing back onto Earth to destroy said robot. Rena is just a BAD@SS!!!!
I don't get it, why can't Sunrise expand this awesomeness of this OVA series?!? Like it could do better than the previous series as a TV series, and possibly to surpass HiME as well. Aye Karumba.... I swear, prequels tends to do better than sequels
Sunrise is milking the crap out of Gundam and love live, but not the Hime/Otome series 😭 It was popular back in the day, but it seems that they want to forget about it

@grandia09 4 1/2 years (at least in total since they were trips of 1-1,5 years) in Japan and around 6 more years of learning the language in my country. Oh and b4 we start one of those typical "i'm better than you"-discussions it's not just me. There's at least 6 subgroups that translated this OVA and every version came to the same conclusion. btw. in case you were in Kyoto or Osaka you might wanna check if you are mistaking some weird dialect for real japanese.

Considering Fumi died before Lena, and mikoto is born after Rena died/lost her powers as a result of birth. It can be speculated that true himes are the so called natural-otome that exist to observe and upkeep order in nature. Wherares otome are artificially-himes trying to replicate hime's ability. This is interesting since in the original mai hime, Alyssa Searrs is the only artificial hime, her child is a artificial child known as Artemis. In the otome world. Rena Sayers is alyssa's descendant who is a true hime, possessing Artemis as her child. The roles of alyssa seems to have switch in otome. Rena Sayers is a true hime, who becomes a otome which are basically artificial-himes.

@@SongShiyu sorry for being late, considering how OP Kagutsuchi is and what he grants which is possible immortality among other things, that's an incredibly high bar, especially considering that Mai is a QUEEN on top of that. Both are broken beyond belief and Rena is the only character that is potentially more broken than Mai due to being a three way perfect storm, an Otome, a HIME, and a descendant of Alyssa. Though how in the world Eclipse 1 Artemis is still around is beyond me, probably has something to do with that it was an artificial child. Similar questions for the Hime star and the obsidian prince. Either way when it comes to the most powerful characters in the franchise, those two are it. No questions about it.

If Rena was alive during Fumi's time and used the blue gem I think she would have been stronger than fumi. But since she wasn't then there is no way of figuring out.

So Uma is basically just saying "there?" which the subbing group changed into an "over there" sadly. I'm saying sadly cause it was supposed to have 2 meanings -> "over there" as in "oh i couldn't see you cause you were over there" and "up there" as in "so you're up there/completely out of reach (pointing out to the difference in power)".
Five years late I know, but Sunrise is notorious for recycling their character designs. Rena, Haruka M9 and Sarah etc were used in totally different IPs before the Mai-Series. So apart from Rena, I doubt these lot have anything to do with the older cast, just lazy character design

You'll either claim none of their translators can speak japanese, or you'll say something like "one of them did a mistake and all other subgroups just copied it" - so in advance: Doremis, Statics and ANS subs are usually very different but not so on this oneliner.
