The nastiest part was that they all went to McDonald’s afterwards and sat and ate with no problem. That’s so gross to me, having an appetite after murdering someone. Shows the level of lack of remorse or care, imo

The scariest part of this for me isn’t the jealousy & mental/emotional health (abandonment) issues that contributed to Melinda’s murderous intent, but instead the (weak-mindedness?) (idiocy?) (mob-mentality?) (Lack of empathy?) (complete disregard of consequences/the future?) that allowed the other girls - complete strangers - to be involved in taking someone’s life.
If people are that weak & stupid it’s really quite frightening - one of them could’ve stopped this, but nobody was strong, smart or decent enough to stand up.

Well-said! I have always been strong minded, very opinionated, assertive, and always on alert to come to someone's aid when he/she cannot defend him/herself. It sickens me that weak people like this even exist. And Hope for one had a very normal childhood as she admitted herself on the Dr. Phil show 10 years ago. All Shandra's mother and sister wanted was for Hope Rippee to stay in prison and serve out her full sentence: that would have been taking ownership and responsibility for what she did. Instead she made excuses and blamed the others for her behavior, appealing over and over until she was finally released early. I am in shock that any of these women were released early. People are in prison for life who have done far less than these "girls" did. And as for Laurie Tackett, I believe she is antisocial psychopathic. I don't know anything about Toni other than that she was spineless and weak. Sad state of affairs that young people like this exist tbh.

Toni and Hope had no problem having sex with random boys while they waited for Melinda and Laurie to finish with a concert. Such a lack of boundaries. And it's sickening. Have sex, then off to bully someone with knife-wielding nutcase covered in a blanket and someone who identifies as a vampire next to her. 🙄

I've had a lifelong fear of authority, and I know I couldn't.
I can't even deliberately kill an ant, let alone a person. If I know I've accidentally killed an insect when gardening, I feel awful. I moved up here at age 14 just a few years after this occurred and my mom and I got the rundown from many parents in the community, which was still reeling from what happened.
I also was briefly very loosely acquaintances with Amanda in the late 90s, early 2000s because we knew mutual people and she may not have had anything to do with the crime itself, but she was not innocent in all the manipulation and lying and instigating. That girl was one of those people who triggers your hair to stand on end when you’re around them and when she talked to me all I wanted to do was find the nearest exit.

The police were able to piece together who did what to Shanda from the various stories the girls gave, but they were never able to account for the sexual assault. They never figured out who did that to her, and none of the girls spoke of it in their confessions. They all claimed they knew nothing about it. None of them did it or witnessed it.
All these girls had enough sense to know that out of all the disgusting acts of torture they committed against Shanda, the sexual assault would be viewed as the worst. This would be the most shameful and degenerate act. So clearly, they knew right from wrong.

I went to school with several girls whom I could have absolutely seen getting involved in something like this. Many teenage girls have that cruelty and/or callousness in them, and when that is accompanied by a low enough intellect to not understand the repercussions, then these things unfortunately can and do happen when jealousy strikes, pride gets hurt or recognition from specific peers is desired.

This horrific tragedy happened 45 minutes from where I live. If I remember this correctly, Lori also sodomized Shanda with the tire iron and one of the girls sprayed her wounds with window cleaner. I remember my high school current events teacher attended the trial and shared that information in our class. As a 16 year old, I couldn't believe something so awful could happen so close to our small, rural community. 30 years later, unfortunately it's become a common occurrence. Thank you for sharing this on your channel. Appreciate how you share these crime stories.

    • @shadowman6518
      @shadowman6518 5 месяцев назад

Hello, here are some facts,Hope, Lori and Melinda have all denied committing the act, and none of them know how Shanda was injured. Toni also denies any involvement, but points the finger at the other three, and I quote Toni Lawrence: "Mary, Melinda and Hope got out, opened the trunk, someone sodomized her, no one will admit it, and I was in the back seat, out of the way" (Toni said this happened on Lemon Road, so not long before he burned her).
So three girls were on top of Shanda and Toni didn't see exactly who sodomized Shanda because she stayed in the car, but the fact that none of the other three said who did the penetration makes me think that maybe all three took an active part in the rape, either taking turns or holding Shanda while one did the thing, which means all three are guilty of rape, regardless of who penetrated her.
(If only one of the three had assaulted Shanda, the other two or one of them would have reported the assailant, and vice versa).
Loveless, Rippey and tackett were officially charged with sexual assault.
But later, the rape charge was dropped along with six other charges as part of the guilty pleas, meaning that none of them would be tried for sexual assault; in other words, it was as if Shanda had never been sexually assaulted.
In the end, following an agreement with the prosecutor, only three of the original ten charges were brought against the defendants: arson, murder and criminal confinement.
So, based on the elements of the case file I've cited in above, I think Hope, Melinda and Laurie assaulted Shanda. In any case, we don't know who sodomized Shanda and we probably never will, none of the three girls wanted to denounce themselves or the culprit(s), in my opinion, because all three of them did it in one way or another.
In conclusion, I don't think we can say with any certainty that it was Lori who attacked Shanda, and the same goes for the other two. The only thing we do know is that, at the precise moment when this despicable act was perpetrated, Shanda was under the influence of three attackers, not just one. But even if we can't state anything with certainty, nothing prevents us from having hypotheses, obviously based on facts and reliable sources.
For example, I'm 99% sure it was Melinda's idea to rape her, so I'm 99% sure it was her who sodomized Shanda, but that doesn't mean the other two didn't take part. I could argue my opinion if you're interested, but for now I'll stop here as I realize I've already written a lot, in any case, I wish you a good day.

In Russia there’s a practice for not just defendants, but also for the victim side to hire lawyers. I kind thought it was odd at first, but the idea is to make sure the state/prosecution does their job and doesn’t let criminals get away too easy. Cases like this make me think it’s not such a crazy idea. What’s crazy is that these sick people are out free now among the society. The society gains nothing from them being out. The fact that Shanda _almost_ didn't get in the car had a profound effect on me, and I have never discounted my gut feeling in a situation since. I've heard of so many cases but this is definitely one of the worst I've heard of, if not the worst. I read the book on this case and it's repulsive beyond words what they did to her. They aren't human, I don't know how they sleep at night knowing what they did to an innocent twelve year old child. The fact they are out of jail makes me very disappointed in the justice system.

I doubt the church member was concerned with Melinda’s demons; I’m sure he was more concerned with satisfying his own. 😢 sick, sick people. All four girls were very damaged; however, it doesn’t excuse the horrific behavior later. IMO, Amanda held responsibility in this case, as well. She was older and had no business introducing a 12-year old child to sex. Amanda also played a large part in pitting Melinda against Shanda. My opinion, don’t come for me.
