Still got my iPhone 8 Plus since launch. No plans to update till it loses software updates. As one of the 10% who can’t use OLED and loath the notch, really enjoying the 16:9 screen, ideal for media, the SE may be the way I’ll have to go. Still wish Apple had produced an SE Plus, but I guess it may eat into the other phone sales.
I got a used 8+ to gift and tested it for a couple days. It’s insane how good the 8+ is. For a 5 year old phone it feels premium and looks beautiful in hand. I have the 13 pro but if the SE was the 8+ I’d buy for sure.
Omg finally someone who understands! I also enjoy the 16:9 aspect ratio tons, it’s so convenient and still looks nice. I think the bezel design also just looks retro but in a nice way. I use the 8+ and the SE 2. Love both of them.

Just found an iPhone 8 for $169. I’m used to closing apps I know I won’t be using. The speed on the SE 3 comes from the RAM, having 4gb vs 2gb helps a lot. But if I keep myself closing apps, $169 is better than $429 for casual use.
i have an 8 and it really struggles with ram managemet. ususally opening the camera makes everything in the multitask close. if i'm playing an youtube video in the background and go browsing safari it sometimes stutters really bad, to the point that safari has crashed on me multiple times. if i open the camera while the video is playing either the camera app will crash or youtube will stop. the 8 also can't handle apple maps Look Around feature, crashing if i move the image too fast or move around a lot. the 8 is starting to show its age for sure. 2gb is not enough. and why are you always closing apps? that actually doesn't do much since you're gonna have to open them all again anyways, what ends up suffering the most is the battery if you keep doing that.

I still have my iPhone 8, been using for 5 years now, still going strong. Only the battery is something that has gone down in capacity sadly. But I still take amazing pictures in comparison to my friends with newer (non apple) Phones. I just wish Apple would make phones with home button! Or maybe an SE with better camera.
My iphone 8 died and I was lucky to find a used iphone 8 256gb that works perfectly for under 100$. As long as the iphone 8 works smoothly, its an absolute bargain. I would never pay 400+ bucks for a phone.
I just put my 8 to the new SE , I am holding out with the home button till the end. The 8 is a great phone only upgrading because T-mobile is paying for most of it.
I think the only real deterrent from the 8 is battery wear considering most examples are nearly 4 years old. I'd rather spend extra and get a brand new experience but if you get an 8 with a decent or brand new battery, you'll love it since chances are you have never used something newer than an iPhone 8, you won't even know what you are missing, and an 8 is a huge upgrade over the 6s. These speed comparisons are interesting to see and it's impressive how much speed increases every year, but in day to day use, I don't think the 8, 8+, or the x which share the same chip, would hinder you in any way. As long as it's a decent deal (under $200), and the battery is recent, the 8 series is still a good budget option.
I will always choose performance over design, at reasonable prices if possible. That's why I personally got an iPhone SE 3, there was no way I'm getting an old iPhone with a less powerful chip.
So basically, since I don’t play games, my iPhone 8 is still perfectly good. I really only do social media (IG,FB, Reddit,etc) and my camera. Imma wait to upgrade.
The outer dimensions seem to be the same but just be careful with where the speaker and camera cutouts are placed. Sometimes they may obstruct the mic at the bottom or fit uncomfortably around the camera/flash setup on the rear. 😎👍🏼

I have an 8 that is almost 4 years old at this point, Apple is going to continue software upgrades and support for at least another 2 years. Thanks for the review. Just bought a carrier unlocked iphone 8 256GB on ebay for $144. This has turned out to be a happy accident (though I porposely bought that specific model). Honestly after some looking and comparison including this review, The iphone se 2022 simply is not worth it, at least for my use case. Yes, the iphone se 2022 is a bit faster but for basic tasks, not by much. I don't do intensive graphical gaming on my phone which is likely where the speed differences really show up. I presently can't afford an iphone 13 pro max, which is what I really want, but I needed to inexpensively replace my iphone 7plus that was stolen with a cracked screen and the droid that just broke even worse so as to be unusable. After much research the iphone 8 runs current and upcoming iOS, has the same max memory as the SE 2022, and should fit my use case just fine, while keeping an extra $435 in my pocket. (enough to buy a brand new apple watch with both cellular and gps to pair with it and still have a fair chunk of change left) The SE just does not seem worth it. The SE 2022 really only has 2 features I'd consider over the iphone 8.... the iphone SE 2022 is dual sim capable, and it offers 5G. Yes, apple will offer updates longer for the 2022 SE..... But by the time that's relevant I will have upgraded to the phone I really want with gobs more performance and features and when I upgrade, I'll still hav the iphone 8 as a backup in case the unfortunate occurs! For my use case, when compared, the 2022 SE simply is not worth it. I'm happy I chose the iphone 8 as right now it seems to offer the best value even when compared to the more recent models like the iphone x series or the 11, 12, or 13.

I am using the 13 Mini. In my opinion gestures in place of button navigation has been pretty nice. I have no complaints what so ever. I never expected that. I am a huge advocate of tactile anything but I have to give it to Apple, their gestures work great. As for touch ID vs Face ID; well it's a slightly more complecated answer. I am not traditionally an iPhones user. I have used iPhones and Android phones. I prefer Android to be honest, but there's no good small Android phones that are small so I have gone back to Apple. Touch ID is in my opinion slightly better than face ID, but ONLY if the touch ID is done with a capactivate sensor (all apple phones with touch ID use a capactivate sensor). Under screen sensors suck big time. Capcative sensors on the back of the phone are better places in my opinion which no iPhones have done, but having a capacative sensor at all is better than an under screen sensor. It's all so complecated, but basically older technology worked better. Why do tech assholes keep changing shit that works good?! Luckily for iPhone users, Face ID on iPhones is pretty good. Better than what the competition usually offers but still not as good as what iPhones used to use. Personally I'm a huge fan of the return of the boxy look too, not only for appearances, but functionality wise. I never feel like my phone is digging into my hand like some reviewers state and I find the flat sides easier to grip with my thumb and index finger in an L shape which I tend to do a bit. For me personally, if the SE 2022 had boxy sides, I'd probably sell my 13 Mini and buy the SE 2022.
I did same tests with my iPhone 8 and actually got much better results, like App store was faster than your SE3. What internet connection you have? I also have iOS 15.4.1, which is super fast.
Facts. That's why I'm still on iOS 16.7.2 on my SE 2022. Usually the first big iOS update is safe, it gets a bit slower but it's mostly fine. With the second one, you start getting regular stutters and slowdowns, and from then it keeps getting worse and worse. (I also wanted to access Metal 3.0 apps, which are only supported on iOS 16 and up.)
These mfs really selling a 10 year old phone as new. I wish they'd make a new design so it kinda looks like their current phones just with a home button on it.
I hope apple kills off the 8 sooner rather than later. My 8 had gotten so slow with iOS 15, I kinda wish 14 was the last iOS for it. Getting a 13 mini very soon, my iPhone 8 has served me well, and I still like the phone, it’s just getting far too slow.

I hope apple kills off the 8 sooner rather than later. My 8 had gotten so slow with iOS 15, I kinda wish 14 was the last iOS for it. Getting a 13 mini very soon, my iPhone 8 has served me well, and I still like the phone, it’s just getting far too slow.
I've had 16.1.1 updated on my iPhone 8 a few weeks ago and the phone feels really quick with it.

@@jacure123 does the se 2022 stutter badly if i open safari while youtube is playing in the background? does the se 2022 stop playing whatever is playing in the background if i open the camera app? does it close every single app in the multitask when i use the camera for too long? because the 8 does.

iPhone dura muito mais tempo sem engasgar... O smartphone em 3 ou quatro anos já começa dá engasgos. Principalmente intermediário... Tem uns que quebra ajtes do tempo ainda
mas ai a gente ta comparando um celular de 2000 reais com um de 5000 ne parceiro? iphone tem que durar mesmo pelo preço.
agora nao sei se os android topo de linha duram tanto quanto. eu sei que atualização de android geralmente para depois de 2 ou 3 anos, mas se ele fica inutilizavel depois de 4 é uma incognita para mim.
