    My goodness. William is basically a national treasure. He's the John Coltrane of motorcycle mechanics. And, these video series are brilliant. You guys are peerless. Now, please don't go changing a good thing. You've achieved perfect balance.

    Please accept sincere respect and adulation for an absolutely excellent series of videos, between the R90 and this R80.
    Having spent so much of my life with a 1985 R45 as one of my sturdy BMW companions, I have been able to understand and appreciate many of your tips, procedures and techniques.
    There's hardly a component on my precious motorcycle that hasn't had my grubby paws on it, more for maintenance than anything else.
    Your careful, precise and versatile approach ranks as the best work I have seen demonstrated on RUclips.
    Thank you for putting the time aside to share your wisdom.
    These Beemers will go on serving us for many years to come, if we take your work as an example to follow.
    The way you work on a component to get it ready to last another lengthy period is very respectful to the history of the individual motorcycle you are working on and reflects your strong bond with these airheads.
    Following you from the Emerald Isle (Ireland).

    Nice to see you taking care of these beautiful bikes. Bought a 1988 R80 new, and still enjoy it today, although it got a Siebenrock 1000cc kit and a "extra torque" camshaft a couple of years ago.
    The standard R80 is one of the smoothest BMW's of that era, engine runs like a turbine all over the rev range, and it handles like a bicycle. Greetings from Belgium.

    I used to visit Hendersonville once or twice a year back in the late 90s up to about 2002. A beautiful area and awesome riding all over that area. Used to love to ride up to Caesar's Head as well as all other other places nearby. Now I have an excuse to go back since I have an airhead.

    Looks really great William!
    To get the headlight gasket over the HL bucket, I would suggest trying a small piece of flexible plastic like a segment cut from a milk jug. That might be less likely to gouge the paint than a screwdriver.

    Hi !! Thanks again for these videos !!!!! It helps a lot ! And I like the way you explain things, it seems more easy to do thanks to you !
    For the next videos, can you give us the torque you are using each times ? This will help much more :)
    Because in specs, sometimes it's not so easy to find depending on the model.
    Thanks again !!!!!
    Greg

      Hi and thanks for your comments. Not everyone watching these videos is working on the exact same bike, so we prefer to not state torque specs unless they happen to be the same for all models and there are some that indeed are. Otherwise I think that it's best if you refer to your manual. I hope that you understand.

      @@boxer2valve Hi and thanks for your answer ! Yes I understand. I have a R65 monolever, and it's difficult to find the good specs to torque properly. Sometimes I use specs for R80, sometimes other bikes...

    Besides volt meter What other gauge to install instead of clock?
    I Also need the bushings and grommets to fit the turn signal stalks to lower fairing. Do you have?
    Thanks

    Just a quick question. Was the Avus black on /5 /6 etc single stage (no clear)?

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, Honestly, I'm not 100% sure however I believe that black was single stage and that clear was not used until the 80's. This is what I have heard but again, not positive.

      Hi and thanks for your kind comments. The lifts that we use are Handy Lifts www.handyindustries.com/ These are all that I have ever used and they are solid and indestructible.

    William: do you understand history of blue colored bib overalls? Is it related to Bavaria and blue in flag? I admire the look and wonder where to purchase.

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  5 лет назад

      Hi Shack, we will soon have the blue overalls in stock. We have ordered a full range of sizes and they are in transit from Germany right now. We should have them in early February 2020. We will send out a newsletter when they are available, so make sure that you are subscribed.
