In this action packed episode, follow along with William as he installs the grips and controls, replaces the throttle, choke and clutch cables, replaces the incandescent bulbs on the voltage meter and clock with new LED bulbs, exchanges out the old faded instrument housing with a brand new one, installs a new Kat Dash LED light board in the instrument housing, installs the Siebenrock S windscreen and adds mirrors to this R80 RT conversion. Thanks, William. Your expertise and manner make these videos very enjoyable and informative indeed. Nice work, Sir! 👍
Thank you! We really appreciate the positive reinforcement.
No, very cool! Best viewed in full screen mode. Thanks William, your videos are always enjoyable to watch.
Thanks David. We are really happy that you are enjoying the videos.
Thank you William for your much looked forward to videos! Really appreciate the time and effort you do to help us be able to have more confidence working on our own bikes. It's also nice to know where one can buy high quality parts for them also.
Hi Mike, thanks very much. We are very happy when we can be of assistance!
K1002 valve BMW Restoration & Parts videos... I´m waiting for the day! Meanwhile, I enjoy these series... Congratulations, once more.
We will either do a series of videos with either a K75 or K100, hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks for your interest!
Very enjoyable! I had an '84 R100 for many years. Airheads are the best!
Couldn't agree more!
Nice work William. It’s always very interesting to watch you work on this project. I have a 1979 r100rt that I will convert to rs this spring.
Hi, Thanks for the positive comment. Very cool and good luck with your project!
How timely. My fairing will be returned from the painter shortly, and when I affix it to my R100S, I'll be doing it in a rather smart pair of overalls.
Fantastic! You'll be stylishly comfortable! Enjoy every minute!
What type of handlebars did you use on rt conversion
Wish I could see exacrly where you measure the clutch 102mm!
From the rear of the gearbox houing (where the clutch cable is) to the clutch release lever at the rear of the gearbox
How can we change the windows of the speedometer?
strange how the RT's get no love! I am keeping my 86 RT as it is. I love the Coveralls, at our factory in Erlangen Germany everyone wore the exact same coveralls . not making motorcycles only Cat scanners!
Hello William !
i have the same model that you're repairing but with high handlebars.
There are two different length for accelerator bowden cables, one is: 1118 mm an the other 1158 mm is it for left and right ?
or which ones should i get ?
Thanks !
Sorry for the late reply. The left and right are different lengths. The right one is 1120 (part number 3273585) and the left side is 1160mm (part number 3273584) You will need one of each.
Next time I would put a stopper on the 3mm push-through bolt. I pressed too hard with a rivet. *seufz
If someone need to change the Copper hollow rivet in the instrumentholder, ask your BMW Dealer. He should have a nice tool for that
Like to have an un-edited version w/o the fast forwards. The relaxed nature of the work and associated sounds are enjoyable and can be relaxing, when in the right mind.
Hi, we appreciate your request, but we feel that speeding up the repetitive tasks leaves more time for what we hope is useful content. Thanks for your interest!
Sorry - the 202mm !
