Yes! This project is going to be gold! Automotive work, metal/iron work, wood work, most likely some leather work inside! I LOVE IT! Nice thing about it being a hearse is that it likely led a gentle and slow life.
From building a basement door, to metal/leather stools, to stained glass and refurbishing cars. So inspiring. Never stop learning. You feed the desire to give almost anything a try. Thanks for the content and the inspiration.
"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."
Great reference Jimmy!
At my uncles junkyard, we used to cut up washers and dryers to make floors for our field cars. Great video. Thanks.
thats an exciting project jimmy... im looking forward to the metal fabrication work and the woodwork... much love xxc
Getting those rusty lugnuts off - can't be stuck if they're liquid! Can't wait to see what comes next! Thanks for sharing with us, Jimmy
I am so excited for this build. I can’t wait to see mechanics and woodworking come together. Jimmy is the best man for the job.
If there was ever anyone who could actually do a Woody right, Jimmy, I think it's you mate! Also, an excellent subject matter. Will be watching is one for a while I think.
What a fantastic repurposing of an old vehicle Jimmy! Looking forward to the follow up video of how this all turns out. 👍👍🚛🚛
Bless you for leaving that scarce flathead in! Too many of us would have replaced it with a 350 out of habit.
Five years later, your show still brings me joy! Thank you!!
“A little bit of movement leads to more movement” good words to live by
That puller you used to remove the brake drum was a serious beast! I have to assume that was an antique, I've never seen anything quite like it.
I love old cars and motorcycles and it's awesome seeing you tackle this project. I really love the simplicity of those old flathead engines. They're not much more complicated than a lawn mower and can be rebuilt over and over again so long as the block isn't cracked. Can't wait to see how this turns out!
@nathanfisher7264 That's the biggest puller we've been able to find at the flea markets. WELL worth the money!
I like Jimmy’s car projects, he makes good decisions.
*usually 🙂
I gotta say, Jimmy, i was always a critic of your work, but this is absolutely awesome. I love that youre saving this car.❤
Why always a critic?
Can you imagine a Diresta and Vice Grip Garage collaboration!
Yeah jimmy should haul it down to TN and let Derrick tinker on that engine
@bill40bates It was talked about it bit... Might still happen in the future, but who knows 🤷🏻♂️
Learning is everything for me Jimmy and in this respect you are a great inspiration.
Turning it over sounds good buddy! Put more oil in it though. There isn't enough to reduce any friction in the engine. The oil pick up can't grab any. Its just sitting in the bottom of the pan! Also put a second battery on it. For the first few start ups it will turn it over easier with out killing the battery. 12 volts isn't enough when those old engines have been sitting that long! Loving it Jimmy! Keep it up buddy!
@greatitbroke Definitely going to put more oil in it and drain it another time before we fire it up for real! 👊🏼
Also great tip on the 2nd battery!
As a woodworker and lover of vintage American custom cars - this is one of my dream builds - we don't have anything remotely like this car in the UK - OK well TECHNICALLY we do, but the Mini Clubman woody which at best is a "walmart mini me" version, 'scuse the pun and I've not seen one on the road for decades.
Love the idea, especially because you figured exactly what you wanted to do and done started from scratch. This one's going to be fun!
I've been excited throughout this whole process. I can't wait to see this thing chug and what it looks like in its final glory.
I am in for this. PLEASE keep showing this project! Good, bad whatever you are going through with this project.
I think your headed down the right path ,I really like your methods although reinforced by Robs experience the blend of you and your friends is spot on gonna be a great build thanks for allowing us to be a fly on the wall 🤗😎🤗😎

Every video from Jimmy is better than the one before it. awesome content. always.
Good job Jimmy Diresta beautifully restored
Grave yard car meets Grave yard house.
I can't believe nobody has been all like, "eRr MaHh GeRrD iTs MuStIE"
Love your range of skills, and how you just jump in to a project, always fascinating.
You certainly have a lot of drive 😁
This is a fun one! Looking forward to seeing it chooch!!!!
I really like your approach of being hands on and letting your mind wander through your creativity as you work. That's how I make, too!
To resurrect the dead & part decayed gives such a titanic biblical feel to this great adventure. Thank you for sharing!
Diresta Auto Restoration. Just what we needed!
Yet another cool old car in the Diresta collection. Flathead Caddy. Learn something new every day.
Hockey pucks make good body mounts... Very nice work J.D....
@@garyjones2582 I've used hockey pucks on two occasions now 😂
What a vision to see the potential and digging into all of that rust.
Really looking forward to the rest of this series! Thanks Jimmy 👍😎👍
I’m all in on this project! Taking me back!
Whoooo…. Love this build… Keep up the good work Jimmy!
Shoot you get that thing fixed up you will be driving it all the time because it will ride so nice and be a looker. I suspect it started life as an ambulance since it was white. It looks like after that life it got one of the very common motor home conversions. Those cars were super popular for that because they could handle the weight and had the wheelbase. That piece you broke out of the head appears to have been the heat riser which is designed to send some exhaust heat to the manifold to prevent carb icing in cold weather. Normally they use a spring tensioned flap so when it warms up it cuts the heat off.
Beautiful car 😮 thanks Jimmy for what you doing for us ❤ very best to you and your family.
The music editing this video was hilarious 😂
That hood and fenders is shaped just like a 1947 Hudson.
If it will turn, it will turn over. Off to a great start with this one!
Soooooo close to vroom! I sounds like it wants to though. Very cool project, Jimmy!
@@GaryOshust She wants it!!
Wood fab, metal fab, auto rebuild, all on a 1947 Caddy former hearse, it doesn’t get any better!
😂jimmy your funny brother your delivery is epic.
Love this episode! Can’t wait for part two please don’t make us wait too long!
ahhhh i love a good project series. First the graveyard house, now this ambulance/part time hearse
THIS IS WHY GRAND DAD DIDENT GET RID OF OLD 🔧, JIMMY ANOTHER EYE OPENER AND MASTERCLASS. 😮😊
I’m so in for this build!!!! Go Jimmy Go!!
Wow Jimmy, you are Fearless! What an ambitios Project!
That's quite the Massive Puller! Wow, again!!
Good Luck on this Woody.
Hey Jimmy (or community guys), the youtube channel SimonFordman is really good on the subject, just sayin.
And thank you, as always a pleasure to watch !!!!!!!
Wow you did a ton of work to already. Look forward to seeing your vision come to life.
Было интересно посмотреть новые конструкторские и технические решения по восстановлению данного раритета. Жду продолжения...
Interesting project.
I just discovered Anchorlube a couple of months ago. I like it a lot for drilling and tapping.
Even though that looked like a lot of work, I’ll bet it was fun tearing that all down. It’s also a great learning process. That’s what I love so much about my bus project. Don’t ask me how it’s coming along, lol
Awesome project, I can't wait for the next part👍
Fantastic, soooo looking forward to this.
Love a long Diresta video. Can’t wait for part 2.
Holy shit, this is gonna be a great series!
Looking forward to the rest of this. You should have called Vice Grip Garage! lol
Eric the Car Guy is one person that I would like to see back on the air, RUclips channel I mean.
@@woodsontr he is posting again recently
Rob, you are a legend!! Love this project!! This is going to be great.
@@Batti2323 I started my maker journey on vehicles! Love working mechanical things!
Nice video. Cool project. There's not a lot of wear and tear on it. I'm amazed you can buy parts for it. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Full stuff. can't wait to see the wood work. I bet you'll either love it or hate it many times beofroe the end.
I want to binge this series now.
So excited for this project
Lovely jubbly project Jimmy.🤗
Love Jimmys content, he’s a very talented artist, but my OCD is going nuts watching this. I’m praying he sends the frame off for stripping and new powder coat. 🤞😂🇺🇸🏴
@siharrop5055 Spray paint is the best its gunna get 😂
the exhaust and intake would of had porcelain on them and all of the wires would of been in a nickel plated wire loom it would of looked spectacular good job not of fan rat rods but glad your bringing it back to life Jimmy.
And here I thought the graveyard house was going to be my favorite series on this channel.
I’m sure it would not be anywhere near as entertaining or enjoyable, but I don’t think I’ve seen a video from you where you take on simple tasks… looking forward to the next instalment!
Lovely Woody car ! 😊
*Yess... Restoration episode, come on . .*
16:25, Diresta equivalent of Pete Townsend smashing his guitar.
Very exciting!
Looking good so far, just needs more tack hammer!
Watching you cut all the rotten stuff off, I'm reminded of a thing years ago I watched of a car restoration and at one point he said something like "so after cutting out all the rust and junk parts (then panned to the shop floor where it was laid out) what we managed to salvage was - the hood, a door, the steering wheel and 2, no 3 wheel hubs...., so now we'll rebuild the car" - he was joking ofc, but not by much LOL.
Very nice project Jimmy I Have a 48 Caddillac Hearse it had the same color interior
I don’t think I’m gonna use the seat so if you know anybody that would want it, I’d hate to throw it away
Body mounts like those are almost exactly how I built them to mount ambulance boxes
Ansioso pelos próximos episódios 👍😎👍
She definitely wants to go Jimmy 🎉 awesome old gal
you know, you have the leather skills, do a brown leather interior with the wood stain and colors, and a blue paint? oh man, you could make this thing pop.
Big Jimmy,the king!!!👍💪👌👋
Liking this project already
yeah Jimmy!!!!! fun project too
Приветствую. Удачи вам в этом проекте.
Yup this is cool! I have put about 15 million wheel studs in and always use a hammer or the nut and the impact to install them. Dude I can't believe the driveshaft was 1300! Man... i feel bad i never spent that much even on a high performance driveshaft. 🤦♂️
@@clementsmallengine4833 I know it was a lot. But this entire project will be $$$. I consider it cost of production
Great video
Would be cool as a pick up!!
Hey Jimmy, If this was my project, I'd go with a newer style GM platform with LS engine, full running gear on a rolling chassis as this chassis is already too long. Having a newer chassis would take away from everything, brakes, wiring, getting it running, exhaust.., you'd already have the whole shebang! If you had a full chassis, you could send the body part out to shop and then get working on the wood. It could cut the build time down to a bare minimum and save a ton of money while the car could be still moveable. This allows the time where you shine, can't wait to see it finished.
Awesome. What a beast
Need a Vice Grip Garage colab for this one!
Looks like a fun project
What a neat project! You said you wanted to learn and with this, you will be learning about what it takes to basically build a car from the ground up. You've made great progress. It sounded like the timing was off when you were cranking the engine over. Is this the beginning of Diresta Coach Works?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love that dash
Nice.
genial jimmy!!
Watching this reminds me working on drum brakes is the devil.
It was fun
A hearse, a graveyard house....
