The sole reason our founding fathers decided on religious freedom in the first place was because they didn't want a required "State religion" in the first place. So many of the colonists had come over here because they were being heavily persecuted in their home countries for believing differently. Some of our Fathers were not even Christians, they were Deists. We have soooo many freedoms in this country, and religious freedom is one of many. So essentially, McArthur wants everyone to not have a choice in what to believe or not to believe. Sounds like State religion to me.

When the Flu Pandemic of 1918 happened in March, the symptoms were exactly the same, and it also killed many people in that year as well.
The people were also mandated to wear masks and to keep their distance from each and to stay home to protect themselves and others.
This was exactly the same thing that happened here again in March of 2020 and people also died in this year just like in March of 1918 but the people from 1918 were more afraid of the virus than the people of this generation were.

    • @Eyrrll

Generally speaking, countries with people that actually wore their masks had lower deaths per million than those that didn’t.
Not surprisingly, the US had a fairly high deaths per million total when compared to other countries… which is particularly bad when you consider that the US has far superior healthcare than most countries.

Thank you Owen for this video. John McArthur was well respected and preaching the Bible accurately, in the 80’s. I remember parents used to listen to him on Christian radio growing up in that era. I lost all respect for him when he condemn Biden inauguration as President, for one saying that the President is wrong for welcoming Muslims in the United States, because their religion is evil. But he was silent about the evils of Trump, not condemning him for his sins. This breaks the camel back. He doesn’t support religious freedom? That’s a guaranteed right in the US Constitution. Since it enacted, there was never any religious persecution i against Christians the US.
If freedom of religion is taken away, then there will be Christian persecution!! What is he talking about!?!? With all due respect, MacArthur needs to retire as Pastor.

A truly adamant believer would absolutely say that freedom of religion is untenable. The bible clearly states that salvation is ONLY through Jebus. Given enough power I am dead certain they would enforce a christian only world firmly believing that they would be saving everyone in the end. The means to that end would be debatable but given how history has played out I would not be surprised by anything done by a zealot. This man really is saying the quiet part out loud, people should see it for what it is, dangerous thinking that nearly any religious zealot would or could espouse.

King most certainly did NOT have a good reputation among White fundamentalists when he was alive. He was repeatedly criticized a a communist, a rabble-rouser and a threat to the American way. Many of the celebrated his death.
It took about 10 years to start, but King's reputation was effectively whitewashed by American Christians. He was recast as a champion of assimilation, a pacifist who opposed militancy and (eventually) a good Republican. Secular media helped: it emphasized his commitment to non-violence while de-emphasizing the role of Christianity in King's message.
MacArthur's take on King is outdated to be sure, but it is no less distorted than that held by other evangelists who claim to be his inheritors.

A lot of Christian Nationalists tout how the "religious freedom" was from "nothing but a letter Ben Franklin wrote". They dismiss the importance this letter had that was actually related to the Constitution itself. They dismiss religious freedom altogether. And then they say how persecuted they are. Well, are they forced to be Christian? No. They have religious freedom, just like everyone else. They want and have the freedom to worship how they want, because there is no State religion. But people like Bobert believe there should be a "Biblical Citizenship test" (her words, not mine), which is an existing program in many churches, that she thinks everyone in America must take in order to be an American citizen at all. Honestly, since I've left the church, I don't really see much religious persecution, toward any religion. It exists, but only by a little. And the only religion in this country, that pushes it's religion onto others, is Christianity.
