You really NEED reflective foil on the wall behind these, so the heat is pushed back into the room and not absorbs by the wall.
It does make a difference, you WILL be glad you did. Good luck for the future.

Just a little tip for you for the coming winter- make sure you have 6 buckets keep them filled in a spare bedroom if any freezing weather is forecast. It's essential for flushing toilets and washing pots and plates if your pipes freeze. Even if pipes are lagged, in very cold weather your incoming water pipe can freeze underground, then you can finish up snookered.

Sounds like a good plan mate, take the chill off a room you aren’t always using but really warm the room you’ll spend the most time in, a cool bedroom is nice anyway and makes it nicer to snuggle under the covers. Might I suggest some kind of thermal reflective sheet behind the panel and the wall

@kevpage i saw a reflective steel square placed on back area behind the flue in a mobile home which had a multi fuel stove placed in it and it had radiators with the back boiler feeding the radiators and it was lovely and warm and homely

My brother in law had something similar in his house but ultra thin.He changed to gas central heating so I took those to my caravan that was 20 years ago.they did have a timer on them but not digital was so light I glued them to walls. But ho my god the caravan was so hot when they was on it was brilliant hope yours are the same

We live in a bungalow and have our heating automatically regulated by the Hive. Have rads in all rooms but rarely have our heating on in our bedroom. At night the temperature is set to 16c when we have hive switched on, so heating only comes on if temperature drops to that figure. The heating is also set for a time and temperature to automatically come on in the morning and a time for it to go off. At the moment it’s all off as it is not needed, unless the temp drops dramatically. As it’s a bungalow and all the rooms are on one level we leave the individual room doors open that way when it’s on we get an even temperature throughout the bungalow.

Great video, early days I know but perhaps next year when you have added it all up is it worth thinking of over wintering somewhere warmer abroad? A camper in Spain is surprisingly cheap when you take into account food / heating costs etc and it would solve the occupancy problem, a nice holiday guaranteed as well. Just a thought, subscribed and on your side mate.

What's the maximum output your caravan can handle? Mine was 3.2kw and it didn’t leave much room for manoeuvre when i had a 2kw heater on. I kept tripping the electrics, having to turn the heater off when using the dryer etc. Hopefully yours has a bigger output. Great video 👏👏

Just check with the site owner how many amps you can draw - may have to stagger the timing on them to avoid tripping the site or your own supply.

Looking forward to hearing the electricity running costs. [We are on a 0.30p per Kw tariff which isn't too bad.] Do you have a small generator, just in case of power cuts?

  • @davidfisher3142

i still think oil filled are a lot cheaper to run and stay warm for ages after being turned off

That front window will lose a lot of heat , use full length thermal curtains with radiator free standing . In my caravan , we had a small oil filled rad in the bathroom , you'll be surprised how warm it is , especially if you fit a long length window blind . Use the same length blind in the toilet room & your bedroom , there is a lot of tumble down of cold air in cold nights .
Another tip for you is to replace all your light bulbs in the van with LEDs, you can run all your lights for the cost of a 100 watt bulb . I did that in our 3 bed static . There are slim line low wattage rads with a towel rail available . Have a look in caravan reclamation place . To winterise your pipes under the van I used the normal HD foam & foiled bubble wrap 4" wide wrapped around that . Leave your bathroom & toilet heaters run overnight the heat will transfer through your pipes to help againt freezing

The best and cheapest is diesel heaters and run them on heating oil . You will have to run them electric heaters constantly and will cost you a fortune, I have done 2 years in my van and it's winterised and it gets cold quickly if heaters go of for short time

I wouldn't worry about running the panels 24/7. Not with site fees and having to replace caravan every ten years. That is what would concern me.

Just be careful that all your pipes are well lagged for winter..We had no water or heating for a few days the winter before last because of frozen pipes..We do have calor gas central heating , Shower and cooker. The biggest gas tank lasts about 3 weeks in winter and about 3 months in summer...Also be aware of mould and dampness in wardrobes and outside walls..Its not easy but hopefully you will manage winter well..Good luck, Stay warm...x

Wow! You’re going to be roasted alive.
We live in the balmy SW England now. Used to live in large stone house in Lancashire, where the weather came direct from Siberia. No heating in the huge bathroom, waves on the bath water BEFORE you got in😂😅❤

Ouch! That’s going to cost running those.
Issue with living in a caravan only designed for 9 months of the year is the cold. What ever you do it will cost, it’s just that way unfortunately. Ask Starmer for some winter fuel allowance?

I've got wall mounted electric oil heaters that are of a similar size, I plugged them in to a WiFi plug so I can connect them to my phone and Alexa to set timers or turn them off and on, just can't adjust the temperature. Our site will not allow diesel heating.

Can U not have a wood burner in the caravan. Or a diesel heater what campers tend to use. It's very cheep to run. I keep thinking for in my room as I got a new TV and me older 1 would keep my room at a nice temp the TV and my skyq box I only had a freezer

Ivan, buy yourself an Energy Monitor, it's a plug with a display that shows your consumption and your energy costs. You can add your unit price and it calculates the total proce. Buy just one and put it on each device you want to monitor. then you can see exactly where your money is being burned.

    • @visiblekoment
      @visiblekoment День назад

Hi just watching ur video. I did some research a few months ago for a mate living in a caravan. Just a few things for you to look at. On the out side walls where u are put the rads. Why not get some 50mm polyurethane insulation sheets with foil backs. Cut them to the size that suits ur wall. Then wall paper them and mount ur heaters to it. Then mout the sheet and rad to the wall. Be easy to do and relatively cost effective. Second my u get door blankets on Amazon that are well insulated blankets that u can then clip around the door and windows using the little pop clips u see on clothings. U can get them to mount on hard surfaces too. Around the caravan out side u talked in another video about Cling film, good enough ideas but it won’t last in the wind. Maybe better to use urathane sheets which are tidbit and get a good seal between the van using foil tape. Supper foil make great insulation in blanket form too. Enjoy ur videos here good work

Excellent plan. Completely agree with you. The time settings will work well for you. And they will take the chill off and actually heat a room, and you'll be able to change as needs and the winter move on. Warmest wishes for a cozy winter.

We had those panel heaters in a holiday flat we stayed in recently. They worked well. It will be interesting for us all to see how the running costs work out for you. I agree with you about the oil filled heaters - too bulky for most rooms in a caravan.
