And thats the reason why the movie is earning less.Its not for everybody especially with the kind of political environment we live in.The makers knew that.That is why they didn't dub it in other languages.Yes it is not perfect. If immigrating outside India is bad,then is migrating within India good?think for yourself.The movie can be extrapolated to migrating within India too.
Another observation is that even if they were 30 when they went to London, how did they end up looking like they’re 65 in 25 years? They are shown way older than they should be.

Bro the message you have mentioned is very well executed in the movie and illegal immigration is the very crux of this issue as mainly poor and incompetent people choose such a dangerous path/route in hope of a better future. If they had to elaborate each and every issue in detail then they would have made it as a OTT series. And the fact is that its a very dark movie as compared to other Raju Hirani movies. May be these negative reviews are coming out due to that. The movie couldnt have been made better with such a dark topic. In fact its a boldest Raju Hirani movie till date and an absolute masterpiece which some people may take time to resonate with. And almost every Raju Hirani movie had a love story as a sub plot which didnt dwelled deeper on their relation but just provided as a vehicle to carry the story forward, for eg. 3 idiots, Lage Raho Munnabhai. So imagining or assuming that someone is interfering in a movie making process just to prove his or her point sounds childish and shows the lack of maturity. These are all professionals and know better than us.

I think the point about illegal immigration which they wanted to prove wasn't convincing enough, compared to his other movies like 3 idiots, Pk which were very convincing in putting their viewpoints across. The topic of Dunki itself is not known to mass audience. Previous films of Hirani had relatable subject matter, Doctors and medical system in Munna bhai, Gandhi in Lage raho, Education system in 3 idiots, Religion in PK even Sanjay dutt life is well known. Also, Raju Hirani himself said that he wrote this film with SRK in mind which he had never done before. As you guys said, Hirani's last two films doesn't have rewatchable factor.
Actually this is no less than other Hirani movies. The difference here is 2 things: 1) The theme is darker than other movies which makes the second half more serious and doesnt give us a fully happy climax. But this was needed for a film with such a theme. 2) The subject is not relatable for many people within india who haven't considered leaving India. This is super relatable for those who have moved out of india/home for better opportunities. This is especially hard hitting for many who travelled out of india for earning and supporting their families but even after many years just able to do enough to send money back home to families. While still being just living a bare minimums abroad.
The main issue with this film was its final message was not clear I mean. First they showed dunki is a risky process but once they did the dunki successfully they were actually able to support their families they all achieved their goals like we saw in the end they even got the residentship and they were even getting the visas back to home just after 8 months but tapssi’s character was dying so they had to do something to get to India early even though that doesn’t make sense for other two characters they could just have come after 8 months legally secondly poor can’t get visas but at the same time one of their friend got the student visa even though he was not well off so when he cleared an exam he got the opportunity despite being poor so the makers themselves was not clear about the message.

Screenplay is the reason. Editing, screenplay and direction was the reason they worked. Here the writing was clueless. SRK had no character arc whatsoever unlike previous hirani movies where each and every character had depth and were iconic.

Dunki may not be perfect but it's a definitely a recommended watch, my two cents is that the struggle and journey of Dunki route was shown quickly and wasn't explored enough, the issues faced living in foreign country as an illegal immigrant could've been explored more, instead the focus shifted to love story in the end which was unnecessary and not needed which took up enough screen time. Also, both of them not marrying for each other's sake was too much filmy and not realistic. Calling it Dunki and then not showing the theme itself and then making it into a romantic story in the end was a big stupid mistake. I guess had it been Aamir Khan he would've never agreed for this ending.
you are right.....deviating from the topic didn't work for the movie and the love story seemed like replica of veer-zeera....it ended up being a mix of rab ne bna di jodi and veer zaara.....love story could have been more subtle....I think rajkumar hirani should keep Aamir khan as first choice for all his movies, unless he doesn't fit the role.....they complement each other......srk didn't look right fit for this role

Movie is made on a budget of 85 crore so it won't be a flop might even become a superhit if it touches 200 crore in India. But it is true that he movie didn't give full satisfaction like previous Raju Hirani movies.
It is a satire that they have defended the plot of Animal various times which was not practically illogical but are bashing the plot of Dunki and stating it to be analytically illogical. The message from the film was to aware people about their country and enjoy there instead of aspiring to live abroad and living in rags. It showed how it's not worth to go all through because at the end you will not get what you aspire and people would think a thousand times before taking the donkey route.
I feel 1. Dunki as a concept is not known much and hence not relatable also esp for those who never considered going abroad to support family or got their visa rejected. 2. The jump to 25 yrs later also was too fastrack. Showing glimpses of struggles in those 25 yrs, inability to come back home would have strengthened the storyline. 3. Other characters wanted to earn in UK hence giving IELTS. But sukhhi (Vicky) just wanted to get his girl back. He could have applied for a tourist visa. (NRI marrying girl from village and mistreating them was also another issue faced and once in news for a long time. )
This is the first Hirani movie which I think does not have any repeat value. This would have been a good movie if made by any other director but by Hirani's standard, it's a miss.

DUNKI is a good movie. But there are few things, if they would have added then it would have been a superhit movie like 3 idiots, munna bhai series 1.More logical reasons for Manu,Balli,Buggu to travel outside india. Sukhi's reason to travel was a great example. 2.Adding few more scenes related to dunki travel might have helped the audience to connect more emotionally to the movie in 2nd half. 3.Few more edge of seat moments(like underwater scene) also might have worked. Like they have shown scenes but in few seconds or minutes. People didn't get time to connect to those scenes. When this movie will be released in OTT then you will love it more as compare to current scenario in theatre.Same thing happened with swadesh. People didn't accept the movie in theatre but started acclaiming when they started watching in their home alone. If we keep the comparison out and just watch the film for what is it, I think it was an enjoyable watch. Me and my family loved the film. The emotional scenes were really heart touching. And I think the movies is growing on the audience with every passing day.
According to your thoughts about, why you went to abroad and saying that you miss your country you can come back and do in your own country. Yes as a living in abroad that doesn't mean we don't miss our country. We miss and sometime it feels very lonely but we know our responsibility for our family. We came here for better life and better opportunity than our country which we don't have there,and we can do, we can invest some money and we can start something to do in our own country but that didn't give us that, our business will work and we can earn money every month because some families can afford losses and some can't. That's why we choose abroad thinking about return of investment that, at least we invest some money and go to abroad, after it will sure that we will get monthly income and that thing we can't sure in our country.

Dunki is a good movie but this time i don't get emotional connect with characters which i think is a setback for me, i had very high hopes from RH and SRK, SRK has been under utilized in this movie, Boman Sir character was unnecessary, Dunki has a potential to become one of the greatest movie of Indian cinema but it fell short in many term, I think they made this movie in some hurry this movie can be easily made for 3 hrs, if they showcase the pain of tapsee, and other 2 guys and SRK journey after he deported from London, it has gain repititive value, I feel this time Raju Sir not at his best, Maybe in next week he back with a bang❤❤❤❤

Are Baba Salaar, Dunki, and Aquaman 2 saath main release hui hai... And there is a way of storytelling. Rajkumar Hirani has presented illegal immigration - the Dunki concept in its best form. So, from my side, it's an amazing concept but obviously, when some big pictures are released simultaneously earnings will be impacted.

At least keep it simple, it's a movie with some shortcomings but offers substantial knowledge about issues. Don't go into too much logic and intricacies, everybody is intelligent and don't need your guidance to understand the issue. Bro the message you have mentioned is very well executed in the movie and illegal immigration is the very crux of this issue as mainly poor and incompetent people choose such a dangerous path/route in hope of a better future. If they had to elaborate each and every issue in detail then they would have made it as a OTT series.
And the fact is that its a very dark movie as compared to other Raju Hirani movies. May be these negative reviews are coming out due to that. The movie couldnt have been made better with such a dark topic. In fact its a boldest Raju Hirani movie till date and an absolute masterpiece which some people may take time to resonate with.
And almost every Raju Hirani movie had a love story as a sub plot which didnt dwelled deeper on their relation but just provided as a vehicle to carry the story forward, for eg. 3 idiots, Lage Raho Munnabhai. So imagining or assuming that someone is interfering in a movie making process just to prove his or her point sounds childish and shows the lack of maturity. These are all professionals and know better than us.

Being a huge fan of Rajkumar Hirani and SRK it is very hard to accept this for me, but still I agree with you.
The topic of Dunki itself is not known to mass audience. Previous films of Hirani had relatable subject matter, Doctors and medical system in Munna bhai, Gandhi in Lage raho, Education system in 3 idiots, Religion in PK even Sanjay dutt life is well known. Also, Raju Hirani himself said that he wrote this film with SRK in mind which he had never done before. As you guys said, Hirani's last two films doesn't have rewatchable factor.
Actually this is no less than other Hirani movies. The difference here is 2 things:
1) The theme is darker than other movies which makes the second half more serious and doesnt give us a fully happy climax. But this was needed for a film with such a theme.
2) The subject is not relatable for many people within india who haven't considered leaving India. This is super relatable for those who have moved out of india/home for better opportunities. This is especially hard hitting for many who travelled out of india for earning and supporting their families but even after many years just able to do enough to send money back home to families. While still being just living a bare minimums abroad.

The main issue with this film was its final message was not clear I mean. First they showed dunki is a risky process but once they did the dunki successfully they were actually able to support their families they all achieved their goals like we saw in the end they even got the residentship and they were even getting the visas back to home just after 8 months but tapssi’s character was dying so they had to do something to get to India early even though that doesn’t make sense for other two characters they could just have come after 8 months legally secondly poor can’t get visas but at the same time one of their friend got the student visa even though he was not well off so when he cleared an exam he got the opportunity despite being poor so the makers themselves was not clear about the message.

I think the main message of the movie is that how some people are mad about going abroad and have misconceptions that everything will be great there, but after going and staying there they realise the importance of home and why there can be no place like home and the happiness you get there is unmatched. 1. 3 idiots (nothing can beat that)
2. Munna bhai mbbs (it was a breath of fresh air)
3. PK (incredible concept great message)
4. Laghe raho munna bhai (wild concept got too preachy and little messy in the end but still was entertaining
5. Sanju (a great one time watch but biopics have a shelf life but still one of the best biopic ever made in India was really manipulative but still the way it was portrayed and the media manipulation angle was really genius)
6. Dunki (hirani lowest point in his career jokes was hit and miss, message was not clear, topic was not relatable, it was a good film not great)

Dunki may not be perfect but it's a definitely a recommended watch, my two cents is that the struggle and journey of Dunki route was shown quickly and wasn't explored enough, the issues faced living in foreign country as an illegal immigrant could've been explored more, instead the focus shifted to love story in the end which was unnecessary and not needed which took up enough screen time.
Also, both of them not marrying for each other's sake was too much filmy and not realistic. Calling it Dunki and then not showing the theme itself and then making it into a romantic story in the end was a big stupid mistake. I guess had it been Aamir Khan he would've never agreed for this ending.

Movie is made on a budget of 85 crore so it won't be a flop might even become a superhit if it touches 200 crore in India. But it is true that he movie didn't give full satisfaction like previous Raju Hirani movies.
It is a satire that they have defended the plot of Animal various times which was not practically illogical but are bashing the plot of Dunki and stating it to be analytically illogical.
The message from the film was to aware people about their country and enjoy there instead of aspiring to live abroad and living in rags. It showed how it's not worth to go all through because at the end you will not get what you aspire and people would think a thousand times before taking the donkey route.
I feel
1. Dunki as a concept is not known much and hence not relatable also esp for those who never considered going abroad to support family or got their visa rejected.
2. The jump to 25 yrs later also was too fastrack. Showing glimpses of struggles in those 25 yrs, inability to come back home would have strengthened the storyline.
3. Other characters wanted to earn in UK hence giving IELTS. But sukhhi (Vicky) just wanted to get his girl back. He could have applied for a tourist visa. (NRI marrying girl from village and mistreating them was also another issue faced and once in news for a long time. )
This is the first Hirani movie which I think does not have any repeat value.
This would have been a good movie if made by any other director but by Hirani's standard, it's a miss.

DUNKI is one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen. From its emotions felt and its reality shown, this is a masterpiece. It shows the actual world of how immigrants are treated, and portrays it very well. I love the acting in this, so though out and nicely done. Another one of srk’s films that make me entertained and relaxed. I loved this entire movie, the laughs I had from this is just too many to think about. It’s hilarious, fun, and a good family watch. It also has heartfelt moments that make your eyes tear up. Overall, this is amazing and I’ll forever support Rajkumar Hirani’s filmmaking. So incredible and remarkable. This film will keep you going and more interested for more. I highly recommend it for any family watch, any person that likes emotional/funny films and most importantly the reality kind of films that really show how it is and the way the world portrays us as. Such a fantastic film released for us. Srk has done it once again, made me surely proud with his work of art and his acting. I can tell you as a fellow watcher, this is so much better than his other past films in 2023. This one really hit it for me. Srk Always knows how to reach the audiences interest and get them into the film. Incredible work to the whole cast, and for the other actor shown Vicky Kaushal. All acted so good and it’s one of those films that you want to watch again and again, especially the trailer! It’s the type of movie you wish you forgot about it and rewatch the whole thing as it excites many like me. Again, brilliant and amazing film. Not only was the film phenomenal, but its songs was phenomenal as well. So joyful and lively. It really makes you want to dance out just as the other films srk does in. Deserves more than 5 stars if I could give it more. I absolutely loved it and will be waiting for more of srks upcoming films. Long live India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

DUNKI is a good movie. But there are few things, if they would have added then it would have been a superhit movie like 3 idiots, munna bhai series
1.More logical reasons for Manu,Balli,Buggu to travel outside india. Sukhi's reason to travel was a great example.
2.Adding few more scenes related to dunki travel might have helped the audience to connect more emotionally to the movie in 2nd half.
3.Few more edge of seat moments(like underwater scene) also might have worked. Like they have shown scenes but in few seconds or minutes. People didn't get time to connect to those scenes.
When this movie will be released in OTT then you will love it more as compare to current scenario in theatre.Same thing happened with swadesh.

The budget of Adipurush and Salaar was very high. Dunki's budget is around 120 cr including promotions. So the movie should atleast be superhit.

But, Dunki is abt to cross 300cr too. 3 blockbusters in a year for the ageless and peerless King Khan 👏
I loved the movie.. because of reviews i wasn’t planning to go to see this movie.. but thanks to my wife i went for the movie ..after a long time i watched a hindi movie which have a emotional content and great story line which is not explored much.. if you are skeptical go for it ,you will love it.. its a great great movie compare to jawan pathan .. just my take

Dunki is a good movie but this time i don't get emotional connect with characters which i think is a setback for me, i had very high hopes from RH and SRK, SRK has been under utilized in this movie, Boman Sir character was unnecessary, Dunki has a potential to become one of the greatest movie of Indian cinema but it fell short in many term, I think they made this movie in some hurry this movie can be easily made for 3 hrs, if they showcase the pain of tapsee, and other 2 guys and SRK journey after he deported from London, it has gain repititive value, I feel this time Raju Sir not at his best, Maybe in next week he back with a bang❤❤❤❤
I dont think this will even cross PK collections...that itself proves its not connected as expected ...people can call it a hit as per the budget and collections but the expectations haven't been met for sure

Are Baba Salaar, Dunki, and Aquaman 2 saath main release hui hai... And there is a way of storytelling. Rajkumar Hirani has presented illegal immigration - the Dunki concept in its best form. So, from my side, it's an amazing concept but obviously, when some big pictures are released simultaneously earnings will be impacted.
Illegal immigration from bangladesh has ruined Assam. So I cannot in my right mind support the sentiments of this film.

At least keep it simple, it's a movie with some shortcomings but offers substantial knowledge about issues. Don't go into too much logic and intricacies, everybody is intelligent and don't need your guidance to understand the issue. Every common Indian settled in foreign face the consequences of being third person and sens of non belonging but couldn't come here and become senseless youtubers. The movie is good and offers entertainment although not one of the best work of director and having a weaker ending plot.
True 'Dunki' is a serious and life threatening process many people die and even their dead bodies are not even identified. It includes going through various countries where some might get caught up and sometimes even trafficking also happens.
