- The year 2023 would be undoubtedly remembered for the comeback of King Khan with TWO 1000 crore blockbusters like Pathan & Jawan. But with the return of lover boy Raj in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki might not give SRK the perfect closing he was hoping for.
There are numerous issues with the movie - despite all the good parts and great intention - the biggest one being that Dunki does not belong to this decade of cinema.

Dunki.. I could not control my tears.. I’m living in Toronto and watched on Friday afternoon show.. almost 90% theatre was full.. people were literally crying. Even at exit gate I saw many people had wet eyes..

Toxicity exists in various forms from useless to violence to promoting stalking which is present in many many Indian movies. Just because wholesome movies are what you look back on doesn't mean that only those existed.
Anyway, their presence and influence are partly the reason our conscious as a people isn't exactly dead yet. They are the reason we can tell the difference between a meaningful and a toxic film. They are a reason why influence and popularity of indian films in various countries is so large despite the limited finances.

Haven't watched Animal yet, but it's so hilarious and sad at the same that our current gen has became a bunch of soyboys who only wants to be spoonfed movies of a particular genre. Anything gory, brutal and graphic will be discarded as being harmful even if it's an A rated film.

Gory😂😂. I was crying laughing during some of those wannabe badass scenes. Anyone who idolizes that film as a gory violent masterpiece is a teenage boy or a wannabe gangster who imagines the reality to look closer to the film.
Anyway, the film is controversial simply because of casual misogyny in a mainstream film (It's India, we are already living in the 19th century in terms of gender equality we don't need more such normalisation). Violence just adds to that. There are many many more films made on much darker and real themes which have more disturbing and real gore.

I watched dunki today with my whole family, they loved it, even I loved it and cried multiple times, the messaging is very good, those who are saying comedy is forced and not that good, my hall was filled with families and they laughed at those gags, overall it’s a good watch. people who are disappointed are those who want twist and turn every few minutes to remain hooked, and others who had extremely high expectations from Rajkumar Hirani. Otherwise it’s a good watch

The main problem is comparison . People were expecting 3 Idiots level film but I knew it would be different . Secondly , I think people could not have related to the concept of the films . See , films like Munna Bhai MBBS and 3 Idiots were classics because the topics it deals with were kind of Familiar and we have experienced them in our day to day life . But the topic Dunki deals with is not something that we are kind of Familiar with and that is Illegal Immigrants and how their life's are badly effected . But , there is a saying " It's not possible to hit Six of every ball " . Sadly this film will suffer massively because of Salaar .

I went to see the movie because it's the Rajkumar Hirani's movie and he showed his magic. He showed how much we are obsessed for better life and want to go to foreign and how will it turn out. I like the storyline, music, emotion, drama and fewer action.

I totally agree with your opinion we expected something we could relate and change our thoughts from this movie, but it failed to fulfill that emotions because the story is outdated or for labours. That's why we couldn’t feel the emotions due to high expectations.

Great idea to review movies from Mumbai film industry. We really do need a platform like this to talk about what is wrong, right and incomplete with the production of an intensely influential creative art form. They need this feedback and people need to wake up to what they are subjecting themselves to passively, in the name of entertainment. Please do think of reviewing some of the common themed but popular movies that do great disservice to the society in the name of fun.
Movies can be a powerful medium to draw the attention of the public to the situation of health security in the world. The global north enjoys free and universal healthcare not because they had all the money and means to have this system but because people came on the streets demanding free healthcare covered by taxes. Would people in India not find it strange that this hasn’t happened in India? Why not have a movie about it? I challenge the Mumbai film industry to get into the history and politics of health and make a movie, educate the masses about their right to health to be able to make a legitimate demand.
In today's age of Mass Cinema and Masculinity , this film will also fail . Sadly 🥲🥲

I cringed when you mentioned Sanju as one of those movies where you can't leave your brain at home. It was clearly a Dutt-funded autobiography that whitewashed his criminal past. Disappointed in Hirani. Disappointed in you for not calling it out.

I saw dunki and i loved it alot for the fact in today's burning india this movie had such a mature and daring concept 🇮🇳
It was a great movie highlighting how our brothers and sisters are still struggling like this to make a better life not just in the 90s they are doing it and struggling until this day I think everyone should watch it

😅 true. Movies like animal shouldn't be allowed to be released by the censor board. It's so true that a film shows the mentality of the filmmaker. Dunki shows the mentality of Rajkumar Hirani and Animal shows the mentality of whoever it's director is.
I haven't watched Dunki yet, but saw Animal. My head is definitely still reeling weeks later. I am traumatized with the senseless violence and exploitation of women. How did Censor board pass this movie and how is it such a hit?

Aakash it might be possible that this movie will also earn 1000 crores at the box office and to understand this we have to go in the year 1995 So in that year DDLJ opening day collections was just of 55 lakh at the box office On the other hand other top movies of 1995 like Rangeela earned 71 lakh at the box office Coolie No. 1 earned 74 lakhs and SRK's another movies like Karan Arjun and Ram Jaane which were full of action sequences earned more than 60 lakhs at the box office but we all know at the end DDLJ emerged as the highest grossing movie you know what this happened because movies which are full of emotions sustain more at the box office in comparison to those movies which have nothing but good action sequences

One of the worst movie of the year, cringe dialogues, forced comedy, and forced social message. Everything is shown too easy. Didn't connect at all. Movie should be about entertaining people, if in doing so you can give social message like you did in 3 idiots, pk, and munna bhai not the other way around. Raju hirani was somone i used to look up to, now i know it was all vidhu vinod chopra who was behind everything.

Don’t worry budget is very limited for this film .. we are happy that there is a “Social message” .. fun, love, emotions , & hard hitting facts.. we were already ready for this.. but this film success, failure decided many things. SRK was & is the best.

To be honest dunki reviews are mix but all depends on salar, if salar could connect, then they will win but its Christmas also which favours family movies so cant say anything now... But yahh in overseas, Dunki will win easily for sure
1. It's not a Raju Hirani signature movie. No punch in acting or in any scene.
It's more line an OTT movie....
2. SRK is not Rahu's cup of tea. Tapsi is not a good actress 😕 😒
3. Too many flaws, like in today's current GCC world. One does not need a passport to prove their identity. BIOMETRIC AND FACE RECOGNITION is what is required. 2 days is enough to get a person identification. Not 2 weeks.
