Spent years learning this area...one rule NEVER NEVER go back there if it is raining...or there is any mud........just don't.....

It rained hard on us for 2 days. The roads out were not bad except for a couple really bad spots

@@redrockoverland You were lucky.....many of these areas have a special grade of dirt that turns unto chocolate glue when wet....will stick to your tires and clog your tire tread making a slick tire worthless and then you can't move, even on a smooth road. I got trapped in one just 100 yards from the highway.. it took an hour in reverse to get to the pavement....if you are miles away from the pavement in mud like this you are stranded....no way to tow...no way to get out until the road dries..that could take days. 90% of the time I went back there by myself, so I try to be extra careful, but had some close calls with other issues. Nothing is worse than having TWO flat tires with one spare....twice was enough. I was lucky to get out alive. Since I have been everywhere at the strip I don''t have much need to go back, seen it all.

I have the exact same 2012 TTSE with 133k miles and it runs like butter. Are you having any issues with your built out FJ with your current mileage?

Great choice on your truck. No, it runs great. Other than replacing a cv shaft because of a ripped boot. I have only had to do maintenance items on it. I'm at 122k miles on mine
