  • Jon Faure gives you a few pointers on how to ride dirt jumps even if you suck. Jon is a smooth rider who didn't come to BMX until he was in his late 30's. But he has good points for everyone who wants to ride dirt jumps for the first time or wants to get better. Jon wishes to thank Sunday Bikes, IXS Protection and Linq components. I don't care how people judge me for riding at 38. I've lived enough to know you have to do what makes you happy in life!

I'm glad I found this. At my age (48) I thought it just wouldn't look right me being on a bmx. Now I know better. Thanks for this. Now I know I can crash into my midlife crisis n look good on the way to the hospital.

I'm 54 and ride a wolverine. Mostly around town and bit of parkland in the city. Never could get into the bike your riding. Simply cause my old legs can't stand riding upright. Love a bike I can switch the seat down..or up when heading to the Timmies. Love the video Brother.

Thanx for the video. I use to ride dirt jumps all the time until I had a bad accident when I was 18. I'm 38 now and ready to ride again. Going to ease into it. After seeing this video, it did motivate me even more. Here's to a 20yr break from BMX, LOL

I'm 34, soon to be 35 in a month... just bought a house and in the process of building dirt jumps now. Also building a mini in the basement to skate in the winter and rainy days... I don't know if it's juvenile or if I just never grew up!

This video inspired me a lot. I'm turning 30 soon, started riding at 18 (mostly street), practically stopped when 21 and maybe rode only a dozen times after that until this day. I was always afraid that I'll never be able to ride like I used to and never really tried to re-learn anything again. Thanks to your video, I picked up my old bike and hit indoor jumps this week. It feels great to feel alive again. Cheers!

Im 38, started 4 months ago. Love it, but it will be a long time before Im ready for that. Yesterday i did the sissyline for the first time, wow, so fun. At my local spot its 4 tabletops with steep landings, so pushed me right out of my comfort zone haha...Its true with the BMX, it makes a big difference even if you only do regular MTB trails.

Wished RUclips and this video was around in 04'! Was the last time I was at a spot(9th Street) and it had been 4 years since riding any trails. As the saying goes "if you don't use it, you lose it" and at 9nth if you are lost, you can literally be in the sauce, your blood sauce!! Tried hitting one of the main sets which had a technical first set, nose cased the back of the knuckle, and landed on my face. Broke my nose and rashed up my mug. Saw Joe Rich and Chase Hawk ride the same set like a walk in the park but it was during a time I was just visiting. I digress, good tips, and now that I'm back on a bike again, I'm definitely taking these tips to heart(and not pay for my face again!)

All I can say about ageing is don't fear it, keep very active (no, golf is not active!!!), get waaaay out of breath regularly, do yoga, stretch after every day playing and take warming up seriously. Act your shoe size....
