NOT COOL! Us as reviewers need to be aware and transparent about these issues, also I get almost 20+ emails a day, this had to be covered! As a reviewer our focus has to be the viewers/consumers not out relationship with companies and free products!
Hmm. I certainly agree that transparency is key above all else, otherwise why review something.... but I didn't take the "inspection" thing as being negative. I can't imagine a company sending out a brand new product, likely from the first batch produced, without looking it over. That said, if my interpretation was wrong and they were in fact hand-picking units from a retail batch to avoid known issues from surfacing in reviews, then that's definitely a problem.

I just got my preorder yesterday (white) and these are my thoughts. The good: absolutely love the shape, and the skates are maybe even better than prime wireless, better than my gpro core pads too. The bad: my mouse 1 and 2 have a ridiculous amount of wobble, and my side buttons are just awful, it’s like they are sticking inside the shell, not responsive at all.
I've always liked Fnatic's products, but they definitely need to change this "controlled review" aproach, better to be open and honest to the community. Thanks for bringing transparency, Great review!!
As a viewer I appreciate your 100% transparency as I have watched 3 reviews so far today on this mouse and you are the only to bring an honest review to the table. Personally this mouse is too small for my large hands, I daily the Xlite Wireless and it just barely fits my hand. Endgame goal for me is getting a Starlight Phantom medium but I have yet to try the shape in my hand, one day...
I found it funny that most people that preordered it got it 2 days before reviewers could post reviews, but as consumers technically we could have made reviews/initial impressions. When I got my black copy the left click was loose so I contacted support right away and trying to get a replacement. I haven't even used the mouse yet and also didn't want to use it without having the software for it to change debounce time and what not.
Dude the tv review world needs more people like you in it. Literally KG and quantum tv are the only ones you can believe at all because of tons and tons of them are simply ads not reviews like it’s pretty dam bad honestly. Wish you got into the tv world so bad man. It appears that the white edition has the faint rattle, as seen by a few reviewers and my brother got the white too which also had a slight fain rattle 😢 …….. maybe the tolerances were altered slightly to cater for the white coating ….. ? Maybe the QC was done as it’s not factory done on the first run just to get them out on the market 🤕🤔? Tbh thou, Fnatic bringin their A-game once again!🥰🤩🤯 with its mouse design. Wow, a new lightweight G502 would be nice. I love that mouse, used the wired and the wireless version for many years. I hope they put new switches too, maybe GM 8.0 :)
I would imagine quite a few vendors will pre-inspect and say nothing, and so you'd never truly know. I agree with your points, but them suggesting they won't do this in future doesn't actually mean they won't do it - just that they might not tell you that they're doing it. All it takes is for the manufacturer to ship without seal, and for them to apply it after inspection. That's conspiracy theory territory though, but still. I guess my point is that everyone should always consider this as a possible case with non-purchased product reviews. Often you can tell when the package arrives as to where it's come from by an included invoice, but not always. The only fool proof way to do this is to have enough disposable income (or support) to purchase all of the products that you review, or just shamelessly buy and return products which I do not endorse at all (bijan on youtube comes to mind for this).

I don't have a huge problem with them inspecting review units. They want to make sure the unit they send you is consistent with their normal production. If you get a dud, you call them out on it but it's not indicative of the product really, so how does that serve anybody? And if you have an issue with this, you should order one on Amazon so you know you're getting the exact same as the rest of their customers. On the embargo thing, if you preorder something ahead of reviews, that is on the consumer. Fnatic does need to send review units ahead of the release. In fact, no one needs to preorder a damn mouse. Just wait until the reviews are out and then decide. The other two things....eh, yeah that's pretty scummy.
First time viewer. Preordered mine, but I had a bit of trust in their brand and process for this mouse seeing the end result of their pads, headset and keyboard. The controlled approach is weird, and I wonder if it's a cultural thing.
Besides the grip width, the dimensions look exactly the same as the za13. Za13 already has a pretty narrow grip width (62mm) and the bolt has 55mm, that's crazy.
Boardzy also had problems with the buttons but on the black one. But more serious ones. I think it had a lot of pre travel and one of the triggers there was grinding. So them saying it’s acceptable is kind of a yikes
Sucks that companies still have to do tactics like this. It's like they have no confidence that the product is even made or packaged well to arrive intact from the factory to the regular people. QC issues are unfortunate but people can reconcile with that imo with ensuring the process for supporting people affected properly exists. Not this

I think there also needs to be a balance of thought process right? Imagine they had 1 broken mouse in a box out of 200k perfect mice, and the reviewer happened to get the broken one. This would be very bad luck and unrealistic for the average consumer, so the review would be really bad by a strike of luck, The inspection could have been super basic check e.g. are all the bits in the box etc, especially as they didnt pick up on the button wiggle, if they were cherry picking the best of the best, that wouldn't have made it through, so think it needs to be be considered a little more. So without knowing what the inspection entails its hard to truely judge. e.g. cherry picking vs double checking

Honestly I'm waiting for Pulsar to release their X2 sym, heck even the Xlite V2. Right now the only company in my book that gets a lot right and so little wrong. As most people I'd love to see some Zowie wireless, but they're so (SO) incredibly slow, I've kinda given up on them. Great shapes, but I feel like all they want to focus on is medium weighted, rock solid mice with safe well known shapes. That's fine, but it's outdated and boring IMO. I don't think Fnatic is to be considered a trustworthy go-to option for most people in terms of peripherals as of yet. No grudge though, I haven't tested out the Bolt. I can just tell it won't be my cup of tea.
Its not to stop you bringing up negatives, its so they can time the release with reviews all going out at the same time to create hype. Flooding socials and youtube on one day vs drips of reviews over weeks.

Its not to stop you bringing up negatives, its so they can time the release with reviews all going out at the same time to create hype. Flooding socials and youtube on one day vs drips of reviews over weeks.
