I'm hoping to get a van and do BOTH. Set up camp and take short rides in the area I set up camp. Then take down camp. load everything in the van and relocate to another location that I want to explore and set up camp there and repeat with more short rides on my motorcycle to explore that area. Having the van to do the traveling from one area to another and staying dry and warm in the process is important to me. It's kind of the best of both worlds.

Just get out there and live your best life buddy, be it truck or bike camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, cycling , what ever makes you happy , I'd recommend a rack on your bike though, just a little bit of camping gear in a rucksack soon sucks the power out your arms under acceleration and braking even if you just get a soft bicycle panniers set to throw over your saddle it all helps get the load from A to B if you are on a small bike or dirt bike. Because I have the British army Honda XR250R I just use two army gas mask bags connected together and that gives me 60L of space then a bungee around my tent and rear fender to hold it all because that bike doesn't have a rack of very strong subframe .I put a bit in a rucksack though like a sleeping bag or blanket and maybe my bread rolls so they don't get squished on the bike. But yet do what makes you happy rather than what you think people want to see because then you are living their lives.
