"When Firebird entered the budget market with their £1.99 Silver range, they really upped the quality, releasing some highly playable games that offered great value for money. One of the best releases was Proteus Development's Warhawk, a vertically scrolling sci-fi shooter with an amazing Rob Hubbard soundtrack. As I loved drawing spaceships, the game really played to my artistic strengths, so inspiration for the loading screen was easy to find, and it became one of my most famous pieces. I remember this took about 14 hours to draw, compared with six to eight hours for my previous screens." -- Stephen Robertson, graphic artist
why don't you get the star when you destroy the spécial spaceship ?? when you collect it, you have rapid fire !! DEVASTATING !! I love this hard game ;)
Aaaaarrgghh!!! When I played this game around 1988, I had autofire hardware enabled. After colliding with the star, there obviously was an interference between the two autofires. So I always thought that the star was evil and I tried to avoid colliding with it under all circumstances.
I managed to get much further than this on the C64 when I was young. Eventually the big round balls you can't shoot start coming down ridiculously fast. Got very sick after finally dieing on level 21, I think it was.
