Awesome! People don't realise that vegetables are time consuming to prepare, especially if you're also talking stalks - at least half an hour standing at the sink washing spinach, potatoes, beans of all descriptions, legumes, okra (uncut of course!), my God how does my mum do it? We used to make a game out of prepping bunches of fresh coriander. Thank you for outlining this! :)
The stems actually have a lot of nutritional value and should be utilized. The best way is to give a light rinse under faucet then chop then put into a water bath and drain three times. It’s slightly labor-intensive but you can make a large pot of greens at last at least four or five days this way.
Yes this was VERY helpful, especially since I eat A LOT of spinach! I will start washing mine anyway, even tho they say "already pre washed and ready to eat"; great tip at the end too. Thanks!!
Is this way of cleaning spinach okay to clean and use for making smoothies and would you clean kale the same way and cilantro? Thanks for the video it's very helpful
Fantastic video. I used it to prepare the spinach for a Spinach Apple Salad with pecans and blue cheese. (Chris, have you done a RUclips on Artichokes?) Thank you. Nice change of pace. I'll use at the Hollywood Bowl. (Just a tip for anyone using apples in a salad, use a presoak salt water / lemon solution to keep apple slices from discoloration.)
Washing in pure water doesn't get rid of the pollutants on spinach. Rinsing the leaves with pure water then soaking in water with a table spoon of baking soda for at least 10 minutes ,then discarding water and rinse leaves properly make them free from contaminants.
Watching it again and again. Best video on how to prepare spinach. Spinach is a good change of pace to get away from the same old, same old. Thanks!

The stalky bottoms are great good fiber.

Such a helpful video! Thank you!
Thank you brother ..helpful video👍
may i ask why cold water to wash the spinach instead of warm or hot water?
+MrAustinValentine
It might start cooking it a little, and you will lose some of the flavor
so that they vegetables will taste crunchy
He said the cold water was for spinach that had begun to wilt. The cold water would freshen up a bit and bring back some life into it
thank you!
sir please tell why wash with cold water...why couldn't hot....as hot can kill more bacteria ?
how can I get the water out of it without a salad spinner??

thanks man for the tips
Thanks, I wasn't sure whether this type of spinach could be eaten RAW.
Bitter is very good for us diabetics. Opposite of sweet. 🙋👍🏻
Is it obligatory to remove the stems ? I don't want to.. is it bad if I eat it with the stems ?!!
nope. I eat with the stems too!
Removing the stems helps get rid of the grit, a lot of it gets trapped in stems!
Thanks!
Why did you dump the water save water for a garden
kang vbc well said
If you're not doubtful about chemical pesticides or fertilizers affecting ur own garden then yeah that's a respectable move to reuse and save water.
Chris meh bregrin big upp!
