Anime in general holds honor very highly, but Bleach is one of the best depiction of that. As soon as Byakuya heard Ganjus from the Shiba clan, dude was about to ask for forgiveness for not taking Ganju seriously. So he shows him respect and offered a real warriors death. Showing what type of character Byakuya really is with just one scene
It’s not in the dub but in the sub when Yoruichi speaks to Byakuya she says “Byakuya-boy” implying not just a decent age gap between the two but also some familiarity
I hadn't watched much of the dub, so watching them react to it is kind of cool. I loved the sub, but I do enjoy the dub enough to not cringe at the voices (a lot of 90s dubs were ON POINT, this included; minus a few translations which they eventually fixed). But NOT HEARING "Byakuya-boy" or at least what a lot of translators made it as "Little Byakuya" in this episode is so sad! I probably only have two complaints with 90s dubs: their lack of attention to detail sometimes (like here where they drop the boy completely) and their decision to constantly use the translated version (like how "Shinigami" was "Soul Reaper"). Keep Shinigami, explain it in a small note somewhere, and move on! GOD I miss fansubs so much. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's smart like translating Reiatsu into Spiritual Pressure, but as you watch a show you learn terminology. Plus, fansubbers breaking down the first time a term was used and showing you how to pronounce it too? So good. And jokes being explained to help understand why it's funny, there's just no soul in subs anymore.

@@wymg4480 I think what Carries a lot of the bleach dub is that the main cast is general is well acted like Ichigo, Rukia, orihime, Uryu, Chad, Renji since you see them the most. The villains are well voice acted as well I really like Riruka’s English voice cristina vee
You got pass this already but 12:44 in this episode Ukitake feels like Ichigo resembles some one they already know, its the second mention of that person who Ichigo looks like, and i love how Kubo left those clues in there

Captain level fighters can control their spiritual pressure output as an intimidation tactic etc. So it's cool that you see it from Byakuya here & involuntarily from Ichigo.. But Ukitake & Yoruichi are giving off nothing. The clue for this was when Byakuya thought Ganju was someone suppressing themselves. Also why Byakuya was approaching with caution.

Spiritual preassure and reiatsu are not the same thing. Spiritual preassure is like an aura or exertion of reiatsu used for making your presence known or intimidation.(side note if the gap is too big you might not even be able to sense the bigger Spiritual preassure)
So you might have figured this out already, but basically the soul reaper's swords (Zanpakuto) have a true name and a release command, which is spoken before the true name in order to release the sword's true form and abilities. The release command can be anything, but often has to do with the sword's abilities. In Byakuya's case his Zanpakuto's name is Senbonzakura and 'scatter' is not the name of a technique, but the release command. In Renji's case, I believe he says either howl or roar (I watched in Japanese, so I'm not sure which word they chose in the dub), followed by his Zanpakuto's name, Zabimaru. For Ichigo we know that his Zanpakuto's name is Zangetsu, but since his sword is constantly in its shikai (released state) we never hear the release command.

I love this episode so much. We get Yoruichi's real form aka one of the best characters, ichiruki reunion and the way they move so effortlessly between hilarious and heartwarming. Also Ganju bleeding out while they're having their banter like guys please. Luckily Yoruichi is a badass because otherwise things could have ended much uglier. Great reaction!

And yes, Senbon-Zakura is indeed the name of Byakuya's sword, meaning basically "thousand cherry blossoms". The "scatter" that he said before intoning the zanpakuto's name is something like a code-word or incantation to unlock its powers. Whenever Soul Reapers use their swords' powers, whether for 'shikai' or 'bankai', they'll start with a one-word command, in Japanese a verb in the simple imperative (Byakuya says "chire"). That command is different for each zanpakuto, and is based upon its individual powers.
Talk about a cat scratch fever... and the crew finally gets to witness one of my favorite Shikai releases... SCATTER, SENBONSAKURA! ONE more thing... 🎶if you want to see some action... 🎶

Also, every shinigami (with some exceptions i won't mention 'coz of spoilers) have a release command for their zanpakuto, in Byakuya's case the command is "scatter" for a certain character the release command is "Burn all creation to ashes" names in bleach are extremely important btw.
The reason Ichigo x Rukia is so heavy in the anime is because apparently the studio shipped them and went out of their way to cut down and/or remove scenes with Ichigo and Orihime as well as adding and over-romanticizing scenes between Ichigo and Rukia. So much so that after this arc if I recall correctly Kubo would read over and approve the anime scripts before they could send them through because it was bothering him that much
There is absolutely no difference between how this scene played out in the manga vs the anime, and absolutely no scene added between Ichigo and Rukia. The only additional scene was a filler character commenting on them being together, which the normies already knew was anime only. Kubo never said he started supervising the script because of shipping.

The filler I think you’re talking about was praised directly by Kubo and he was actively involved in the anime by then, and there are additional ichihime scenes in the anime/hell movie too…and the thing about him participating in the anime because of shipping is straight up false

Now whether he chose to switch course during the last arc or was simply leading shippers on the whole time is left to speculation, but there’s no denying he knew what he was doing by giving Ichigo and Rukia the strongest bond and chemistry of the entire cast. I read the manga and I honestly don’t know what you’re referring to with added depth for Ichiruki and removed scenes for Ichihime in the anime. In both the anime and manga Ichiruki got serious buildup whereas Ichihime was portrayed as a one-sided crush rather consistently.
I have never heard someone here Ichigo's theme and think it's silly 🙄it's one of the best MC theme songs in anime. Is it a little cheesy? Sure. But it's still fantastic.

Anyway, the point of Hanataro's inflection, as you all discussed, is that he's determined but frail. When serious things happen, he's often stunned more than incensed. His "Oh, Ganju..." to me is shock/horror. There's another thing that it seems you guys may be confused about. PROPER NAMES = JAPANESE, DIALOGUE = ENGLISH. The activation command for a zanpakuto is dialogue, and the name of the zanpakuto being commanded is a proper name. Same for everyone. The reason why Orihime says the name of her technique and then "I REJECT!", is the same reason Renji says "ROAR, ZABIMARU!"

There's another thing that it seems you guys may be confused about. PROPER NAMES = JAPANESE, DIALOGUE = ENGLISH. The activation command for a zanpakuto is dialogue, and the name of the zanpakuto being commanded is a proper name. Same for everyone. The reason why Orihime says the name of her technique and then "I REJECT!", is the same reason Renji says "ROAR, ZABIMARU!"
