In terms of shear power of spiritual pressure kenpachi is the strongest but since he doesn't even knows his zanpaktous name he hasn't yet really exploited his real shinigamis potential.which in perspective is scary to think how strong he is without his zanpaktous help.
Besides, Kenpachi was not serious for 95% of that fight. He allowed himself to get hit, wore bells and left his eyepatch on. ichigo may have won that battle, at least according to kenpachi, but you can't say ichigo was stronger than kenpachi. Especially since the hollow mask keeps protecting him from fatal injuries.
Well spoilers I guess: Kenpachi only fought fodder characters up until now so that nerfed him really hard. Soul Society intentionally never let him learn any sword techniques, mainly Central 46, but Yamamoto did try to teach him some basic kendo (as shown with his Nnoitra fight). Kenpachi also wore his eye patch, where his spiritual pressure was hugely nerfed, and had bells on his hair so the enemy knows where he is constantly and never risk a sneak attack. Lastly, even if he had no restraints, during his first fight with Unohana Yachiru, he started nerfing himself so he's either equal or weaker than his opponent so that he can enjoy his fights more. Dude lost to Ichigo after a 'small' powerup. He barely won against Nnoitra. And almost died fighting Yammy on his resurrection with Byakuya (it got off-screened but it was stated so). The limiter that he puts onto himself makes him relatively close to the power level of his enemies, this is proven in the SAFWY novel and the TYBW. Zaraki fought Azashiro who is the 8th Kenpachi (currently sealed in Muken with Aizen) and lost the first battle really hard, but during their second confrontation, Zaraki was bodying Azashiro after he removed some of his limiter. Keep in mind that Azashiro was the guy who one shot the 7th Kenpachi, who was so strong he can one shot the entire Seireitei, got his bankai banned, and got invited into Squad 0. Azashiro also made the entire Squad 0 descend into the Seireitei so they could capture him, since no one in Soul Society had the strength to do so. He's also immune to Aizen's Kyoka Suigetsu which is a big feat. He can also spam hundreds of Kidos at once, including Aizen's signature Hado 90 and Yamamoto's Hado 96. Zaraki as a KID was stronger than Unohana at her peak, but still had to kill Kenpachi hundreds of times in order for him to completely remove his limiter in the TYBW. Keep in mind that Aizen trapped Kenpachi inside Hueco Mundo, THEN actually went to invade FKT. Before Kenpachi's removal of his limiter, he was enough to be considered as a war potential by Ywhach, that alone speaks volume. So theoretically if Zaraki never nerfed himself ever since he was a child, he could've bodied most Bleach characters before the TYBW. If anything Zaraki was like a protagonist from another anime that got a sequel and had to get nerfed really hard. (AHEM Boruto). In the end you can argue that it's plot armor that beat him, but that's just saying that it was part of Aizen's plan.

He is an absolute monster in terms of raw strength, possessing easily more than double the power of the average captain, but he doesn't yet have any of the techniques that would let him effectively utilize that power. Also, he has no control (and thus his sword is stuck in constant release).

Keep in mind Kenpachi likes to limit himself to truly enjoy a fight and if u watch his fighting style he is less worried about parrying hits as long as he can deal greater damage which is shown when ichigo cuts his face and he runs into it. Basically kenpachi is reckless and loses a lot of blood in battles due to this.
zaraki Kenpachi loves to fight he’s not one to Dodge attacks and he was holding back so with these two things I wasn’t surprised that he went down knowing how much blood he lost in the fight but Kenpachi still won ichigo was the first one on the ground so.
I would say in just terms of sheer raw spiritual pressure kenpachi outclasses a lot but when it comes to other captains especially Byakuya, skill, harnessing a zanpakutou's true power and a wide array of attacks that are dynamic comes into play and changes the meaning to the whole captain level status, love the reaction, next episodes are gonna be fun

don`t use ichigo's victory on zaraki to mensure his power level, because later you guys gonna understand how protagonist that battle was. Zaraki is way too stronger than that "version" you have seen. Also learning Aizen was behind everything, i.e Rukia's execution, and all that "law" he was upholding was just a ploy, was the last straw, as we saw he was the only one to come and save Rukia from death when Gin was going to kill her. Telling Rukia the truth about him and Hisana freed him from all his burdens, and that's when we started to see his real personality. I could go on for hours but unfortunately don't have the time, like him sending Rukia and Renji to hueco mundo, his fight with Zommari, Tsukishima, As Nodt. His "dying words" to Ichigo at the start of TYBW. Him finally acknowledging Rukia when she uses her bankai. etc. way more moments than "2". Anyways, you should pay close attention while watching/reading the series.
I know you're ahead and probably already established it, but ichigo is not currently Captain level. Kenpachi's fight shouldn't be used to scale Ichigos power. One of the "requirements", beside some exceptions, is the ability to use bankai. That already excludes ichigo from Captain level. Ichigo is just no where near as strong as any of the captains yet. He lacks the skills and experience.
You should watch the fillers, even though there’s a chunk but at least the filler has some good story and decent relevancy’s to the bleach universe. Highly recommend and it’s a better filler compare to Naruto
Kenpachi cant hear his sword because he constantly weakens himself, he was always better killer than anyone, but then he finaly found great oponent and became afraid of losing him that became his trauma, thats why he cant hear his sword, he must overcome this trauma in order to be stronger
