@@mishimoto being a thermostatic housing I would of thought just cranking it wouldn't prime the new cooler, due to there being no heat in the oil? Based on the above I will follow your advice in a normal start up and drive process.

If you want to run multiple coolers 1 for oil, 1 for transmission and 1 for power steering will the radiator be effective?
If you were going to be running additional coolers you would just want to make sure to leave room so that they can each get enough air flow.
